@TomRock_Newsday: Am told Will Beatty just went in for surgery on torn pec at HSS. Recovery said to be 5 months. That's back on the field around November.
hurt us in run blocking. Pass blocking I am not worried about. This new system we will get the ball out fast. We can also move the pocket with spring out right, or roll out right. So I am not worried about the pass blocking aspect. Run blocking is where i hope the OL would improve as a unit and do some things.
with half of their oline injured? They must have had better depth. I just do not have any confidence in the candidates due to all the uncertainty. I just hope somebody can step up and fill that void. It's a canyon right now!
Did the Tear happen at the beginning of lifting a set or at the end?
was beatty lifting free weights or did he do this with a bench press?
where was the weight coach. If the tear happened at the end of the set..the conditioning coach has to answer some questions here.
I used to be able to bench 305 (2 sets of 10) with free weights, I am wondering if his hands were properly spaced on the lift, if he was doing free weights.
Picking up right where we left off last year with these fucking injuries. Let's see if we can lead the NFL with the most injuries for the third season in a row.. Whose next????
Another soft tissue injury. Another torn pec for the Giants
I think this happens way too often for our team. Once again, it makes me wonder WTF is going on with our strength and conditioning program.
Heard an interview with Bill Cowher last year. He said that he gave strict instructions to the trainers that under no circumstances would he accept injuries that occur during the training process.
"We spent so much time last off-season addressing that and talking about how we are going to fix that going forward. We made adjustments to what was being done in the weight room. We had the GPS tracking system," Mara said. "For some reason, here we are again leading the league in that category.
"We cut down the number of soft-tissue injuries and then, all of a sudden, we get all these broken bones and torn tendons and torn biceps. I just don't have an answer for that right now. Obviously we will spend a lot of time on it this off-season, talking about that and looking at ways that we can improve upon that."
That is the statement I took from that entire press conference. Same S&C guys around the team though.
How can you be so heartless? If the Giants fire those guys, where will there children go to school next year? You have to worry about those things when subscribing to the Wellington Mara philosophy.
We were never going to win with Will Beatty at LT. Beatty has no grit. I saw him abused in Carolina in 2013. I mean ABUSED. You can't have a player with no toughness in such a premium position. Our coaches have a terrible weakness of going with mediocre to awful experience over mistakes and upside. I will take the latter any day. Put Flowers in there. That is what he is supposed to be! If not him, finally give Pugh a chance to play his natural position. Bring in another young talent to compete. Give the kid from GB a shot. Once again, we weren't going to win with Beatty. He still can serve as depth when he gets off PUP. Let's go for it. This team is trying to win a championship.
The guy started a full season for GB when they went 15-1, and played 13 games the previous one. Does anyone know why he lost his job and also what happened with the Bengals? At least we know he's held up against some top DE's over the years.

he will never be back. He gave us a few good years and we over paid him for those. Another Poor pick by Reese, who is untouchable, and the beat goes on and on. Sorry if I offended anyone but the record speaks for itself. This GM and his staff have buried us these last 10 years with their personnel selections
Yeah, we should give those two Super Bowl trophies back .
Unfortunately for Beatty, this season could have saved him for next season......depending on how he played, would determine if the status quo remained, or he would have to accept a restructure, or he would be outright cut...
This OL had to remain injury free, or maybe have minor injuries where they miss a game or two.....to lose Beatty before the season starts, is a huge blow......and it shows you how fragile this line is......While not a great LT, he was the one, for lack of a better term, "constant" in this line......with him out now, there is a possibility of 5 new starters in the positions of the line, compared to last year......how in the world do you gel a line like that, quickly?
Reese is not responsible for injuries.....he is responsible for creating a good OL and having adequate backups .....the fact is, it could be Beatty, Pugh, Richburg, Schwartz or Flowers that could go down, and there is not presently, an adequate backup to replace either one of those guys......and this goes back to 2011, when the OL was ignored or not stressed as a huge problem....you have a franchise qb....you protect him first, and give him time to hit good, not great receivers.........you create a line that can open holes, that an average back can run through......instead, Reese put the cart before the horse many times......
Yes, this team, won two SB's....with the right players and moves, it could possibly have won more, and not have missed the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years....
It's a shame we have not concentrated on putting a line in front of Eli.....things could have been a lot different....
Flowers is the RT and we're still weak inside at Guard. We all better hope the CFL kid is the goods or our running game is fucked yet again. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They sure as hell didn't waste any time getting him into the OR.
Collins was at his best doing what he did for the Bengals in 2013 as a reserve/rotational guy on the offensive line. He gave up no sacks in 673 snaps in that role.

this year. We have plenty of time to replace Beatty before the start of the season because we are still in May. Reese needs to earn his pay now. Plus, we had to think one or two of these guys would get hurt because it happens every year. What was our plan for WHEN this would happen, not if?

He got signed by the Bucs in 2014 and was awful. They tried to trade him, couldn't, so they just cut him.
Personally, I think their plan was Pugh at LG, Richburg at OC, Schwartz at RG, and Flowers at RT. Scwartz is a risk of injury and may cause further shuffling. So, I am not a fan of moving anyone out of these roles, unless another injury dictates it. That means, I am an advocate of either findsing another LT on our roster or going out and getting one. This may ultimately spell the end of Beatty's Giants career.
Who is a realistic option? Is it Newhouse? Is it the Canadian? Are they more likely to shift Pugh to LT and find a guard, like Hart?
is a penalty making machine - hence the reason he keeps getting cut. I can't imagine TC's blood pressure having a tackle that gets a penalty every 5th or 6th play.

A dirty little secret about those packer teams is that the offensive line wasn't much good. But, they didn't have to be since Rodgers is as mobile as they come.
Newhouse lost his job when they drafted his replacement. He didn't win a starting job in Cincinnati. He served as a backup swing tackle for 1 year.
that my rants about trading down and getting multiple offensive and defensive linesmen were not so crazy after all.
that said, I am not as worried bout this as some.
jones might be a player:
Pugh/Jones/Richburg/Schwartz/Flowers
is still an improvement over last year, with pugh healed, at a more move oriented less power oriented spot, and possibly improved play all the way across from there.
David Deihl played by far his best football at left tackle, it was not the case that he played better at guard..or that guard is 'easier'.....it's different.... possibly pugh is a better left tackle than right tackle.. possibly he is better left tackle than a guard.
he moves fairly well. let him play left tackle, flowers right tackle. Schwartz right guard.
mosely is a tackle to guard conversion as well, I am thinking the canuk gets left guard, mosely backs up left tackle, and some fat slob backs up right tackle.

Brian Stork played very well last season
Added two more this year including huge Tre Jackson from Fla State

lol. True.
not too shabby, not too old, only schwartz being old, and he REALLY owes the league a respectable year.
This is our best starting line. I would rather put FLowers at LT day 1 and leave Pugh at RT though. I hope we sign Jake Long now.

He got injured at the team facility with team trainers, they didn't have far to go to evaluate.
