You're kidding, right? who do you think would be realeased that could help this team at LT? Even at Guard? If there's no confidence in the guys we have, they might just have to bite the bullet and make a deal with some team possibly willing to part with some solid depth.

Probably not much, but they could make it if they really want to though. There's a guy named Eli who could benefit be a new contract and the team too.
Actually,

when you think about, it could have happened to any of the fab 5, and we wouldn't have a replacement for him.....no depth on this team....

If Harrison, ever becomes a good guard for the Jets, I will absolutely flip out....

My guess is that this very likely ends Beatty's career w the Giants unless he restructures and takes a big pay cut. He will be 31 coming off a year off of football. His bonus hit if he refuses is much less of a factor. He's never been more than a JAG at best even before this.

BTW the running game just got
LauderdaleMatty : 5/20/2015 6:26 pm : link
Better. Every year he's been the starting LT the running game sucked. Including the last SuperBowl run when he got injured. The minute DD went to LT that year was when Run game improved. Not a coincidence IMO

Depth? Our starters are shaky. No proven LT. A C who was shaky at G last year. At one G we have a guy who missed all of last season and at the other we probably have John Jerry.

No way anyone can feel confident about this line going into the season. Maybe it will come together but you'd be crazy to put money on it and that's before any more injuries.

belief bad. His season may already be over. And it's not even Memorial Day. Is any of this on the S&C coaches? After what we the projected five starters, Beatty, Pugh, Richburg, Schwartz, and Flowers, we have a bunch of JAGs.

Until proven otherwise, I have zero confidence in Newhouse, Jerry, Mosley, or Herman. Hart is a rookie seventh round pick that everyone admits needs to play guard in the NFL.

No Flowers was drafted to be our LT of the future. It is true that he is going to start out at RT but in a year or two he will likely shift over to LT.

actually Eric Moore was drafted in the first to play LT and Elliott in the second to play RT. Turned out Moore wasn't a good tackle and Roberts was better at Guard also so Elliott ended up at LT and the rest is history.

not too shabby, not too old, only schwartz being old, and he REALLY owes the league a respectable year.
I'm still more concerned about who will play LG
Stupendamatic : 5/20/2015 8:37 pm : link
One of Pugh or Flowers will be on the left, while the other more than likely mans the right side next to Schwartz. One of Jerry, Mosley, Jones, or Hart need to step up big time and earn the job opposite Schwartz.

This will

hurt us in run blocking. Pass blocking I am not worried about. This new system we will get the ball out fast. We can also move the pocket with spring out right, or roll out right. So I am not worried about the pass blocking aspect. Run blocking is where i hope the OL would improve as a unit and do some things.

Did the Tear happen at the beginning of lifting a set or at the end?

was beatty lifting free weights or did he do this with a bench press?

where was the weight coach. If the tear happened at the end of the set..the conditioning coach has to answer some questions here.

I used to be able to bench 305 (2 sets of 10) with free weights, I am wondering if his hands were properly spaced on the lift, if he was doing free weights.

I think this happens way too often for our team. Once again, it makes me wonder WTF is going on with our strength and conditioning program.

Heard an interview with Bill Cowher last year. He said that he gave strict instructions to the trainers that under no circumstances would he accept injuries that occur during the training process.

"We cut down the number of soft-tissue injuries and then, all of a sudden, we get all these broken bones and torn tendons and torn biceps. I just don't have an answer for that right now. Obviously we will spend a lot of time on it this off-season, talking about that and looking at ways that we can improve upon that."

That is the statement I took from that entire press conference. Same S&C guys around the team though.

How can you be so heartless? If the Giants fire those guys, where will there children go to school next year? You have to worry about those things when subscribing to the Wellington Mara philosophy.

Injuries can be opportunities.....
Dry Lightning : 5/20/2015 10:28 pm : link
We were never going to win with Will Beatty at LT. Beatty has no grit. I saw him abused in Carolina in 2013. I mean ABUSED. You can't have a player with no toughness in such a premium position. Our coaches have a terrible weakness of going with mediocre to awful experience over mistakes and upside. I will take the latter any day. Put Flowers in there. That is what he is supposed to be! If not him, finally give Pugh a chance to play his natural position. Bring in another young talent to compete. Give the kid from GB a shot. Once again, we weren't going to win with Beatty. He still can serve as depth when he gets off PUP. Let's go for it. This team is trying to win a championship.
So can someone tell me about Newhouse?
PatersonPlank : 5/20/2015 10:29 pm : link
The guy started a full season for GB when they went 15-1, and played 13 games the previous one. Does anyone know why he lost his job and also what happened with the Bengals? At least we know he's held up against some top DE's over the years.

Yeah, we should give those two Super Bowl trophies back .

Unfortunately for Beatty, this season could have saved him for next season......depending on how he played, would determine if the status quo remained, or he would have to accept a restructure, or he would be outright cut...

This OL had to remain injury free, or maybe have minor injuries where they miss a game or two.....to lose Beatty before the season starts, is a huge blow......and it shows you how fragile this line is......While not a great LT, he was the one, for lack of a better term, "constant" in this line......with him out now, there is a possibility of 5 new starters in the positions of the line, compared to last year......how in the world do you gel a line like that, quickly?

Reese is not responsible for injuries.....he is responsible for creating a good OL and having adequate backups .....the fact is, it could be Beatty, Pugh, Richburg, Schwartz or Flowers that could go down, and there is not presently, an adequate backup to replace either one of those guys......and this goes back to 2011, when the OL was ignored or not stressed as a huge problem....you have a franchise qb....you protect him first, and give him time to hit good, not great receivers.........you create a line that can open holes, that an average back can run through......instead, Reese put the cart before the horse many times......

Yes, this team, won two SB's....with the right players and moves, it could possibly have won more, and not have missed the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years....

It's a shame we have not concentrated on putting a line in front of Eli.....things could have been a lot different....
