AA-
Cecchini 1-4, K
King 0-4
Boyd 2-4, 2b
Ynoa 5 innings 6 hits 5 runs 3 walks 3 k's (maybe the biggest disappointment of the guys I really liked coming into 2015)

A+
McNeil 2-4, 2b, BB
Conforto 2-5, HR, K
Smith 1-3, 2b, BB, 2 K
Rosario 1-4, 2b, K
Urena 1-4, K
L. Taylor 6.2 innings 7 hits 3 runs 1 walk 7 k's
Morris 1 inning 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 0 k's (has allowed 1 hit in last 12.2 innings pitched)
Secrest 1.1 perfect

Savannah-
Guillorme 3-4 (hitting .320, absolutely zero power so far though)
Becerra 0-3
Garcia 0-3, K
Wieck 6.2 innings 3 hits 0 runs 2 walks 8 k's (should be promoted, too old for the level)
Duff 2.1 innings 0 hits 0 runs 3 k's
The guy in our minor league system that I'm think about mostly
Ira : 5/21/2015 9:53 am : link
is Gsellman. I know he didn't pitch yesterday, but taking a no hitter into the 8th with a record of 5-0 and a WHIP under 1, makes me think that there might be a spot in the rotation for a young pitcher who doesn't have a great fastball.
Apparently
Metnut : 5/21/2015 10:01 am : link
Conforto's HR was off an 0-2 pitch in the 9th inning against a guy who had been straight up dealing all year. Good to see!

I read that was also an oppo homer too.
Good to see some power

Out of Conforto. Also nice to see Dom Smith with another XBH.
does Guillorme

need to hit more than singles? Between him and Cecchini thus far we are deeper at SS than we thought we were in the system

Unfortunately, Guillorme won't be a big leaguer if he doesn't hit for a bit more power. He doesn't add speed and his glove is considered very good but not "special". We've already seen how far that has taken Tovar. Guilliorme has 1 single extra base hit in 34 games, 1.
What is the deal with Dominic Smith
CMicks3110 : 5/21/2015 10:25 am : link
I know he's young, but it's as though he has no power. How did they not see this when scouting him. Trout his 18 HRs in 81 ABs his senior season and was the 25th pick. Dominic Smith hit 21 HRs in high school over 387 career at bats. What makes the scouts think that he woudl develop power. He might have a sweet stroke, and he may hit for average. But he is looking an awful lot like a dave magaden type
Brutal couple sports days
ZGiants98 : 5/21/2015 10:26 am : link
Giants lose Beatty, Knicks get the 4th pick, Rangers play like absolute crap including their goaltender, Mets get the doors blown out in 2 straight games and lose 1st place. Yikes.

They hope/hoped the power would come since he's a line drive hitter with a good approach. To this point he's not looking like much. Still young but disappointing so far.

ZGiants98 : 5/21/2015 10:46 am : link
today. Going to be tough. The Cardinals lineup is on fire and we still aren't hitting.

In fact after seeing a lot of both the Nationals and Cardinals this year there is no question in my mind that the Cardinals are the best team in the NL, probably all of baseball.

I feel pretty good about Thor and Harvey leading off the Pirates series and then we get the Phillies.

We can get back on track here with a little luck.

from what Im reading he is very young for the League he is in and they have no thoughts of sending him to to regular A ball in Savannah. The power has to show itself or he will not play 1b, but they are being aggressive with him

Jose Bautista from the Blue Jays? Toronto's not going anywhere and he'd look great playing right field in a Met uniform. Assuming Granderson as part of the package.

Bautista is a known quantity at least. It would be a little different. Regardless, I don't see it happening.

What would it take to get Brantley out of CLE?

is 4.5 games out of their division lead and JB has a great deal for his ability. He'd cost the moon.

Zambrano redux? "no.. the OTHER Brantley!!"

Matz
DanMetroMan : 5/21/2015 11:44 am : link
or Thor 100% go to Toronto as part of any such deal.
Brantley
DanMetroMan : 5/21/2015 11:45 am : link
would cost a RIDICULOUS package. I'm talking clear out the system type of deal. He's team controlled through 2018. Thor + Matz might not even get it done.
Joey Bats + Reyes
debo_GIANTS : 5/21/2015 11:49 am : link
for Matz, Montero, Plaweki, and Flores
Bautista is too old to be a Mets target unless TOR is dumping
Eric on Li : 5/21/2015 11:51 am : link
which they likely are not. Mets need to target a 25-30 year old player, who is (or can be) locked into a contract that goes no later than their 35/36 age seasons, and can make multiple all star game appearances at their position. Said it on the other thread but it's basically the next Beltran/Piazza acquisition. Right now my top 2 attainable candidates via trade are Gomez and Braun. In the offseason guys like Justin Upton and maybe Heyward or Desmond fit the bill via FA.

Brantley since opening day last season

.328/.388/.511 29/30 SB's. He's the superstar nobody talks about.

DanMetroMan : 5/21/2015 11:53 am : link
not confident Thor + Matz would land Brantley but that's the kind of package you would be talking about. He's a GREAT player for an insane price $$ wise

Both are expected back in 10-14 days. Black and Parnell to AA as soon as this weekend.
The lineup needs to be fixed
debo_GIANTS : 5/21/2015 11:54 am : link
We have too much good young starting pitching to just sit on our hands.
Brantley
Shecky : 5/21/2015 12:33 pm : link
The only question about him, is if this is the real Brantley or the one from his first few seasons. Thing is, with a 4/32 ($11mm is his 4th year OPTION) is that there is virtually no financial risk even if he reverts back to the old Brantley - he's still a good value...

Probably as perfect of a trade fit as anyone in all of baseball when considering the entire package and risk to reward. You trade a Matz, Montero and Herrera for Brantley plus SS/Of B prospect. Do that every day of the week.

Oddly enough he seemed timid for much of the season. Strange considering how much he dominated in 2014 but so many FB's and pitching from behind. Today he looked like 2014.
