NFT: Underground passageway from Penn Station to the PATH?

bigGMENblue0891 : 5/21/2015 3:28 pm
I'll be commuting from Long Island to Hoboken for work, and have heard from a co-worker from New Jersey that there is a tunnel that connects Penn to the PATH station at Herald Square, but he can't seem to remember where it is. He did recall using it just a few months ago, however.

Google searches turn up that there was such a tunnel in the early 90s, but it was shut down. The alternative is not too bad, walking only about a block, but it would be much more convenient to just stay underground and avoid the Midtown hoards in the evening rush hour.

Anyone have any idea what he is talking about?
There used to be an underground connection

to the Herald Square subway station

The Hilton Passageway also gave access for commuters between Penn Station and the N/R/Q and B/D/F/M trains until the 1970s, when it was closed off due to security reasons.
