Time to even this fucking series up, boys. A win puts us back in the driver's seat and wipes away the last two horrorshows.

Time for Henrik and the D to atone for their sins of the past two debacles. Come out crisp and take back home ice by force. This fucking team is NOT better than us.

Let's fucking go, boys. Fear the fucking beard.

Lets go Rangers

best of 3 from now on.
great work tonight boys
MetsAreBack : 5/22/2015 11:22 pm : link
got away from the track meet and relied more on our superior two way game and experience. and our big boys FINALLY stepped up. zuccs back Sunday maybe?

best of 3 - home ice means nothing in this one especially since we have excellent presence in their building - so I'm not resting easy yet - n
eed some puck luck and experience to carry us another 2 games

FMIC - let me know if you want to meet up Sunday with BBI rangers fans. I'm down my friend.
observation - Ben In Tampa not active tonight

nor was he game 1

all over these threads game 2 and during the 4 goal outburst in 2nd period game 3 though

maybe the greatest guy in the world and it's just odd 'luck' when one chooses to chirp but it's certainly selective posting

someone on the BSB game thread said that a CBC reporter claimed
Greg from LI : 5/22/2015 11:31 pm : link
That Zucc was ruled out for the series. No idea if true or not.
Jon Cooper is a smarmy douche
dpinzow : 5/22/2015 11:39 pm : link
I called Trotz bad names in the last series but he came off a lot more respectable in the long run. Cooper's the kind of guy who will slink off the ice with his tail between his legs if Tampa loses the series
This Cooper

Awesome win boys!
mfsd : 5/22/2015 11:43 pm : link
Man we needed that all around. Nash went beast mode, MSL played his best game in a month, Hayes was strong, Hank was Hank, our D tightened up...and the best part, we took the body hard and seemed to shake them up on doing so

Just bagged a couple tix to game 5 Sunday, so I'm going to shut the fuck up and save my voice so I can be in full throat that night.

The best part about the Rangers of this era, this crew has some serious fucking nuts when the chips are down

Sleep well tonight gents.
Ha!
batman11 : 5/22/2015 11:43 pm : link
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to get that reaction to Cooper's presser.
Biggest part of this game was shutting down TB...
baadbill : 5/22/2015 11:58 pm : link
After they scored 6 goals in back to back games, I worried that Tampa wouldn't score less than 3 in any game thereafter... to shut down their scoring was just huge mentally - and changes the rest of this series.

if you wanted to script a Game 4 to turn around NY's fortunes, you couldn't have written it much better than tonight. Two goals from Nash, a goal from Marty, and several fantastic saves by Henrik. Hopefully this takes some pressure off of the three of them-- Nash and MSL for not being the goal scorers we have needed them to be, and Henrik for having two really bad games in a row (and a season of Tampa having his number). The only thing missing was several blocked shots and stout defense by Ryan McD.

The only drawback is that Tampa's attack was dominant for many stretches of the game. Being thoroughly out-shot is not a recipe for long-term success. The Rangers defense has to do a better job of preventing Tampa from getting so many great attacking opportunities.

Agreed. But at the end of the day, TB = 1 goal. One. That's huge. Tons of chances. But, 1 goal.
Gotta agree with Paul
redbeard : 5/23/2015 12:16 am : link
The king played an outstanding game but we need the D to improve if we are gonna take 2 of the next 3. Can't expect a team that's been struggling to score to repeat this output

Fuckin fearless! Great job!

How about this Pussy Line lead by Tyler Johnson. Awwww. He didn't like getting slashed, hit, smacked and targeted? Too bad. Don't be a fucking clit. And don't score goals and smirk like your smarmy fuck hole of a coach.

Still, too many chances in front of Hank.

Good win. Biggest win of the season. Stl and Nasher stepped up big time. And Yandle was solid.

Boil still sucks and Evil Strals was not good tonight.

press conference with John Cooper and one of the reporters asked him what he thought of the 2nd period ...Cooper's expression immediately changed and he was clearly ill prepared to answer the question. He then turned it around on the reporter and asked him the very same question not once but twice in a wise-ass tone. He gave zero credit to the Rangers and essentially called them lucky. His response tells me that he belived the Rangers had no chance and had no business being on the same ice as his squad.

This guy is more tightly wound than one might think and he apoears ready to crack. I've grown to despise him and that band of gaping a-holes!

The most nauseating thing about it was how he was just lamenting over his guys missing wide open shots in the first five minutes. Cry me a river. Part of sports is execution, Tampa executed really well in games 2 and 3, they didn't in 1 and 4 and thus the series is 2-2 pal.
His explanation of the first Nash goal was nauseating, too

It wasn't that bad.

He's right about his team's opportunities and we all saw that.

I'm sure he noticed, as did eveybody, his goalie has been giving up rebounds all series long and a bit sloppy.
Rumors out of Tampa about Bishop

he might be dealing with a groin or hip flexor injury and that's why his already subpar lateral movement looked even worse. Increases their doubt

"I don't know, how's you see it play out? OK. Tough luck. I'll start with that."

Your team just got waxed. And it was tough luck? Douche baggery at its finest.
I walked away thinking the Rangers lose this series if they play
BrettNYG10 : 5/23/2015 12:12 pm : link
Like that again. Tampa pushed their shit in during the second. Hit a few posts, etc. they definitely got unlucky.

I'm hoping that this game makes Tampa retreat to a more defensive style which prevents their forwards from hanging.

Heard Yandle was dealing with a separated shoulder for awhile. That 'sounds' believable. He's been our best defenseman this series.

Hudson: My dad said it was a 60/40 crowd split with the Rangers dominating the upper tier. Said the crowd noise was dominated by the Rangers.
Cooper has a very punchable face.

has been a rebound machine these entire playoffs.

The Red Wings took advantage a couple of times, the Habs really didn't.

Glad to see the Rangers convert some of the rebounds. Just fire the puck on net with people in front.
And Callahan's sucked this post-season.
BrettNYG10 : 5/23/2015 12:17 pm : link
Terrible contract for a team that's going to have to pay a ton of guys soon.
I told you guys Cooper is a fucking smarmy douche.
arcarsenal : 5/23/2015 12:17 pm : link
Anyway. Massive win. This team absolutely had to have this one and they took care of business decisively.

Nash and Marty heard us, apparently. Nash did exactly what a few of us had kept noting had been missing from his game. He was just settling for the bad angle shot over and over. This time, on the first goal, he forced his way in towards the net and made a play using his size and his hands.

Good job by Henke to get back on track and just a good game by the boys overall. It's amazing to me how quickly people who have watched this team keep counting them out at the first sign of trouble. Then again, maybe they really haven't watched this team and just hopped on once the playoffs started. In any event, this is just such a resilient team.

Now we've got to take Game 5 and put them on the ropes. Lots of work to do. But last night was huge. Just really love how we responded and how we played. Hopefully Nash and Marty really get going a little bit now. Especially Nash.

I suspect TB may be a bit mentally weak at this stage.
BrettNYG10 : 5/23/2015 12:19 pm : link
They totally gave up with about ten minutes to go. Scoring early tomorrow could make them press and change their style.

I'd give him a pass this round due to his surgery, but he only has three assists in sixteen games. He wasn't noticable in the first two rounds.

Gave up a few soft "posts" last night too before he got back on his game.
Adjustments
Torrag : 5/23/2015 1:04 pm : link
Hank made a couple subtle changes last night. He was slightly 'higher' in his crease which takes away more of the upper net which the Lightning are very good at sniping. He also made himself 'bigger' by being more upright which had the same effect of taking away more of the top half of the net.

Defensively we did a better job of handling their slashing at the net on set plays especially on the backside. There were still some missed assignments but overall the coverage was improved. As the series progresses and we acclimate I expect we'll continue to cut down on their quality scoring chances. The lightning had a lot of shots but they weren't of the same grade as games 2 and 3.

Finally we were more physical and in their skating lanes which disrupted their flow. We took away time and space more effectively. That has to continue as they are lethal when they get North/South with speed.

The coaching staff is doing the right things and you have to love the Rangers commitment to studying their opponent and altering our strategy to fit the opponent. We're mentally tough and battle tested. That will be the difference in this series when all is said and done.

On the ice you could see the Lightning panic a little bit when Henrik became Henrik again and some of the free entries to the Rangers zone were taken away (although there were still too many in the 2nd period). Cooper through all his bravado and arrogance in his press conference is shitting bricks and hopefully AV and the boys see it
