When will it make any sense to cut Will Beatty? I'm only bringing this up because I don't except 8 games out of him this season. I expect him to not be 100% for any game this year, he won't be back to form until week 1 2016. With that said and with our first round pick being a Left Tackle. When does it make sense cap wise to cut him? We need Eli, JPP and Prince much more than Will Beatty in my POV. Thoughts?
I think he's an immediate fit for RT or Guard while LT isn't a given IMO.
Pugh was a LT at Syracuse for three years and a damn good one. He has two years of experience at RT in the NFL. Flowers as most Tackles coming into the league needs to start out on the right side to develop.
Uhhhh, Pugh was the starter at LOT for all 4 years at Syracuse.

Yes, it would be a ton of dead money.
May the best men win though.
Relax, snapperhead. There will 100% for sure be competition for that very important slot. If the Giants believe Flowers is ready this year to guard Eli's blindside, he'll start. If Pugh is better, he'll get the nod.
Beatty was very good in pass pro. He only fault and it is considerable is that he didn't have that nasty streak you'd like to see to really help in the run game.

Has to be rooting against Ereck Flowers. Beatty getting cut can save us how much exactly? We need to resign Manning, JPP, and Prince
If you cut him next year (as a Pre-June 1st cut), then the Giants will gain $4,175,000 in cap savings. If they designate him as a post-June 1st cut, then the Giants will gain $6,675,000 in cap savings.

You are probably right. I thought it was three years but I am probably wrong. Good catch mrvax.
Of course all this assumes he comes back and gets his old job this season. I think his chances are about 50/50. If it doesn't happen (either because he never makes it back healthy or when he does come back the line is functioning well without him and he can't find a starting role), I agree he won't be back next year.
But I guess my point is I believe he's a starting LT somewhere in NFL next year. Why not here?

Where do people get that above average OTs generally play into their mid 30s. And at what level. Name the 5 mid 30 year old top tier LOTs playing today at 32-33
Beatty is not and has never been above average. How many pro bowls has he made? All pro never a shot. Other than some subjective PFF rankings and here BBI no one else in the NFL would classify his body of work as above average.
Doesn't mean he should be cut but there's a cost benefit to every player in the NFL. The question is is he worth his contract price. A year off and he will be 31. Pretty much same age as DD and McKenzie when their started deteriorating. If Flowers or Pugh are better at LT Beatty should be gone. If they can't then he stays one more year.

I think that $6,675,000 savings is based on 2016.
It is possible for Beatty to return late this season and we've all seen how additional injuries occur during the season so Beatty could get a shot at playing time.
He's very cuttable next yeat but I think he stays this year. No way he's here two years from now.
