NFT: iPhone 6 died- Five weeks old

jc in c-ville : 5/24/2015 7:12 am
I'm with Verizon and won't expand much regarding my past 6 months only to say I had a Galaxy= died, and a replacement- died also.

Now this, died in its sleep.

So, when I walk into Verizon today, how much BS am i going to go through to have one of them go in the back and get me a brand new phone or do I have to play this game where they send me/factory replacement via FedEx.

I have the insurance and am on the edge program.

Part of me wants to walk in there and act as a customer who is interested in the Iphone 6 and ask a bunch of questions leading up to, so, if it breaks, do you folks simply replace it with a brand new phone, or a replacement via FedEx?

Three fucking phones within six months just dying?

Well, you can't blame verizon

unless it is their software in the phone that is causing this. I find that certain Verizon stores are better than others at resolving problems. If you have Apple Care, you may be better off going to the Apple Store vs to Verizon.
You don't need apple care...

You have a one year warranty on your phone. Walk into any Apple Store and they will give you a new one. I just did it three weeks ago.

But have them run diagnostics on your old phone. Sounds like you may have a corrupted software program running in the background and it's killing the phone. That was my issue.

Good luck.
My phone didn't die

but I dropped it and cracked the screen. Went to Apple Store and paid the $129 for a new screen. They couldn't fix it, so they gave me a brand new phone for the $129. You shouldn't have to pay anything. I agree going to an Apple Store is your best bet.
I'm Sorry for Your Loss

killing three phones in 6 months -- I go through 1 phone every two years -- and they are all still alive -- I'll sell you one of my veterans.

Apple doesn't allow the wireless companies to put software on their phones.

If that is true, then it sounds like it is the result of an app or site that is causing some damage. In that case, it's hard to be mad at Verizon or Apple.
Verizon may have a bad batch of iPhones?

i too got an iPhone 6 from Verizon and it completely died in 5 weeks as well...odd. First wifi capability disappeared, then LTE went, after multiple tries at restoring to factory, totally bricked. Went to the Apple Store and they gave me a new one without even doing much diagnostics.

How do you come to that conclusion? I can't see how any app could cause physical damage to a phone. This is hardware failure.
3 phones in 6 months died on you?

Could it be something on your end? That seems like an awful lot.
They were able to fix it

3 phones in just about 7 months- that is correct.

The dozen or so years before this these episodes, not one problem with any phone.

The original galaxy just died after charging in early Oct. The replacement, died down here in Florida in Mid April, same issue, different charger at the office.

This one, I was on the phone with my manager last night, and poof...dead.

Unfuckingbelievable.

I bet it just needed a reset

My last apt I had tons of weird power issues with computers, a mixer, speakers, even smaller stuff like an iron. Speakers had a pwr buzz b4 failing, mixer powered on if you flipped the switch a bunch b4 failing (repair guy said the pwr section was fried), also needed a new pwr supply for my desktop. Now I'm the ass who didn't use a UPS, but still assume it was the craphole bldg. I'm no electrician and my stuff took a while to fail (nor did I have cell issues), but its just a thought to consider the power source, be it the area, your house, or the specific circuit / outlet

Not that it's highly likely but this is an odd one if not just 3 random bad luck units
I think you'll be ok, but as other posters have said

Your issue likely should be handled with Apple. About a month into getting an iPhone 5 mine died. I went to the Genius Bar, and since all iPhones are guaranteed for up to a year, as long as there was no water damage I was entitled to a new one.

I definitely was scared that when they opened the phone up, they'd find a tiny insignificant droplet of water damage on something and blame the entire failure of the phone on this, screwing me in the process.

Luckily this never happened. They said it was the phone and I got a brand new one that day.
RIP

under one year warranty. If you go to the insurance process, be careful what you get back. My rec is to cancel your insurance.
