anyone who studied game theory knew his contributions to the field, but most knew him from the Best Picture film starring Russell Crowe. He was 86.

Wasn't he notoriously anti-Semitic?

Regardless, the man was clearly ill in the head, but clearly a genius. R.I.P. to him and his wife.

Sad. I don't know much about the guy other than what I saw in the movie but I loved that movie as it was an incredible story. RIP.

From the author of "A Beautiful Mind"
Quote:
And a letter that a newspaper cited, saying that it revealed him to be a ''rabid anti-Semite,'' was written, she said, after his doctors had diagnosed his condition as paranoid schizophrenia and when he ''also believed himself to be Job, a slave in chains, the emperor of Antarctica and a messiah . . . ''
everyone is "anti"

a hell of a lot more than usually gets admitted to. No need to waste time yammering on about it after someone is dead.
Maybe he should have been

Let's beat up on a dead man with a well-documented mental illness for saying nutty things.

a far more interesting comment about human beings

Is found by noting what a great mathematician, maybe one of the top 5 of the last century; a pathfinder of the great advances we have made in Probability and Risk Analysis did not believe in the risk versus comfort tradeoff of wearing seatbelts.

When the limo hit the guard rail on the NJ Turnpike the driver survived but John Nash and his wife were thrown clear out the open windows and died.

What are the chances of that? Why it would take ground breaking work on partial differential equations or just accepting the risk analysis of Lesser Minds.

He was in the back of a limo with Jennifer Connelly. He was probably getting busy
