They are essentially rewriting everything for TV but that said, I thought this was a good episode. I like the Tyrion storyline and that was a good cliffhanger. Good to see story lines start to intersect.
Everything with Bronn is entertaining.
I knew what was coming with Cersia but it was still well done. Tommen is a total pussy as king.
The Bolton stuff was good to a point, seeing the woman flayed but the way its been written for HBO it has to come to a head this season, and he has to die or suffer immeasurably. But has to happen this season, we get it, he's a sick F, lets move on.
Everything with Jon Snow and Baratheon is great, the two best characters this season. Preparing for war, winters arrival, Stannis' decision to attack at all costs vs retreat to the wall until winter passes lest he be deemed a pussy. I even liked the Tarly stuff, as he is now the odd man out. Plus the death of the maester.
is not an action movie. Every episode can't be filled with battles, fights and beheadings.
Kinda reminds me of the days when "The Sopranos" would get criticized because no one got whacked.
I read a couple of the books and never minded the slower chapters. It's the writing that is lacking. They've deviated from the books and are now forced to write their own story and they aren't doing a good job. The fight with Braun and the Sand snakes last week was a prime example. It was almost comical.

I agree, but it also can't be an hour full of conversations either. You can't say this season has been an exciting one. it has plodded along and been filled with some real head scratching moments (How they did the scene where Jamie strolls right in to rescue his sister like it was simple shit, Brienne's 10 min long boring discussion with Pod, etc..)
The show comes across as floundering at this point and very similar to the Walking Dead's "Stuck on the Farm" season

It's partly because, although they did deviate from the books in certain instances, it still mirrors the arc of the books. Books 1-3 (which is basically season 1-4 for the TV show) were more exciting, where as book 4 and 5 (especially book 4) meandered through lots of side-stories. Some of these stories have been cut from the TV show: there were characters that were never introduced in the show, but the books spent a significant amount of time on. Basically, it could've been a lot worse if they followed the book more this season and there are still some big moments that the show will get to. That said, I wonder what they will do with season 6. They are getting mighty close to the end of where the book has left off and the 6th book is nowhere near completion.
watched all 7 episodes over this extended weekend, including the last 3-4 today. I love this show but I also loved binge-watching the first couple of seasons so I wanted that feeling again. Waiting and avoiding spoilers really wasn't that hard if you're careful about it.
I noticed a lot of "Meh" comments on this thread. I wouldn't go that far, but I also think this season has been weaker than the last 2 seasons.
It feels like a transitional season. I see a lot of you guys expected Cersei's master plan against the Tyrell's to backfire, which I also saw coming from a mile away. Come on, as soon as you saw Lancel back in town you knew Cersei was going to be in trouble.
I need more Dorne. I need Tommen to grow balls or atleast become more interesting, Joffrey was entertaining as hell. I need Bronn to stay alive because he's by far the most entertaining guy on this show. I need less political BS and more action.
Compared to the last 2 epic seasons, I'd give this season a "B" thus far. But I do get the feeling that things are going to end with an absolute bang in the finale/penultimate episode.
I hope Cersei dies. I don't know the book but I'm tired of her. Without Tywin's brilliance, she becomes a lot less interesting.
If we go by how the show has been set up in the past
Episode 9 should be the long awaited bloodbath between Stannis and the Boltons meaning the other two episodes will have to focus on all the other storylines meaning alot of movement (hopefully) coming in the next few weeks
They don't have the books to fall back on.
Fuck waiting for help... Sansa should just strangle Theon and put him out of his misery. What a pussy.
Those white walkers are having one heckuva smoke break.
The Sand snakes are the only thing that was bad this season really.

That's not the point. There are too many boring or silly scenes, and too many storylines are dragging or going nowhere.
The first couple seasons didn't have action in every scene. And those seasons were great.
