NFT: used hot water pumps?

jawebb20 : 5/25/2015 3:21 am
Going through some stuff in my dad's basement, and he's got a ton of used hot water pumps. Like 15 of them.

He tells me that they are all broken but he kept them for parts/scrap/refurbish.

Quick google search doesnt seem to come up with anyone really buying these to refurbish themselves. Is that true? I'm just going to bring them to the scrap metal yard. Just wanna quick check first.
bell and gosset?

the red pumps? I think all the new circulating pumps are self contained and are basically disposible. I haven't seen a bell and gosset pump in a home in a long time.
My inclination is scrap

though you could always try a Craigslist ad for a week.

yes, they are mostly B&G pumps. But there were a few black ones that I saw too.

My grandfather was a total fish when it came to home repairs. He always just let the repair guy sucker him into replacing the entire system. But my research shows that b&g pumps should last decades with basic maintenance. So a lot of the stuff isnt even from my father, who thankfully was much smarter when it came to home repairs/maintenance.
Yeah you could keep those B&G

pumps running for a long time with regular oil and parts but it was actually easier to just replace the pump with a cheap Taco from home depot for $50 and get 3-5 years out of it. So the B&G pumps were getting tossed by repair men.
