NFT: New York Rangers @ Tampa Bay Lightning, Game 6, 8pm

arcarsenal : 5/26/2015 8:38 am
Sorry, 'Nak.. but this isn't the place to play roulette.

Whoever jumped off the wagon and quit already, stay off. This is a difficult spot to be in but hardly an impossible one. The entire perception of the series changes if we win this one game and get back to MSG for a Game 7.

That's it. One game. Take it one shift at a fucking time. It's not impossible and it's not something this team can't do. Tampa doesn't want anything to do with coming back to NY. They've basically said as much. They know.

We can do this. Let's fuckin' go.

As much as I want him out there
MetsAreBack : 5/27/2015 12:23 am : link
he's not yet practicing with the team and more importantly, he hasn't played in 5 weeks. You just cant put him in there against maybe the fastest team in the league in a do-or-die game.

Especially with the 4th line playing as well as it did tonight. And as much as I'd like to see him replace the geriatric, AV isn't going to bench MSL in an ECF game 7 against his old team.

Probably a moot point anyway - Zuccs still not cleared for contact and doesn't appear particularly close. Today sounded more like an inspiration move for the boys than anything else, but who knows.

At home with henrik in net but we need the defense to improve

Too many chances for Tampa and expecting this goal output in back to back games would be foolhardy

Lets do this boys...one more game and Lord Stanley is in our sights

The same voice gets cold with many teams. The Bruins big comeback in the Finals followed by two early playoff exits was the end.

He's the reason that there will be a Game 7. Without him in the nets it would have been TB 5 - Rangers 2 at the end of the 2nd period. What was the time of possession in the 2nd, TB 14 minutes to the Rangers 6?
Big win. I thought going in that Lundqvist would have to steal the
Victor in CT : 5/27/2015 8:30 am : link
game and it looked that way for 2 periods. Crash the net, score goals. Brassard was stupendous. He was buzzing all night.

I don't know about you guys, but even though it cost a PP goal, I liked that Kreider rammed Stamkos twice. Sends the right message that you can't fuck with our Captain.

I know what he was doing.. we had some outsiders coming in and saying the Rangers would basically win the series no problem, etc. Canceling out the juju...

On a more serious note.. I think for us to see Zuccarello again this year, we're going to have to get to the SCF. I doubt he plays Friday night. Very tough to just throw a guy back into action in a situation like this and there's no way I am breaking up Nash-Brassard-Miller right now because that line might be the reason we win this series now.

I like how the 4th line is playing, too.. even Glass. I thought Sheppard especially had a very good game last night.

It's going to be a hard decision. Marty is the obvious guy to sit if we do advance and get Zucc back but would AV actually do it? I don't know.
rewatched bits and pieces this morning
mfsd : 5/27/2015 8:44 am : link
fucking Yandle is an enigma...we need 2 points a game from him, to make up for his inevitable defensive zone follies...but after a schmaltzy game 5, he seemed mostly solid last night

I'm so fucking pumped about what Brassard-Nash-Miller did last night...the show they put on deserves a place on the list of historic Rangers performances

Of course, all means squat if we don't take game 7.

But you know what - I'll put my money on the fucking balls this Rangers squad has. We've been privileged to see some awesome hockey the last 2 seasons and last 2 springs

LFGR.
It would be criminally stupid if anybody but St. Louis
Victor in CT : 5/27/2015 8:46 am : link
gets scratched to make room for Zuccarello.
Yandle's been great this series.
BrettNYG10 : 5/27/2015 8:53 am : link
He's much better defensively than he's given credit for - he's no Pronger, but he's not the liability people make him out to be. He wasn't responsible for as many turnovers as the other defensemen.

And I'm waiting for everyone to acknowledge how right I was on Boyle. #Norris

I was definitely not optimistic - I rarely am when it comes to the Rangers.
Losing faith seems to work for me during these playoffs
Giants2012 : 5/27/2015 8:58 am : link
while confidence has resulted in a loss everytime.

Kinda confused for Game 7.
Watched parts of the game again late last night
Greg from LI : 5/27/2015 9:23 am : link
That third period was probably their best period of the playoffs, IMO. They REALLY took it to the Bolts early and often. Before they started to go into a shell to protect the lead, the shots were 14-3 Rangers and that was only halfway through. Really wish they would play like that more often.

Game 7 at MSG. Henrik Lundqvist. I think I know how this script goes. To paraphrase Mariano Duncan....we play Friday, we win Friday. Dassit.
Well that's the thing
MetsAreBack : 5/27/2015 9:26 am : link
we have a resilient, tough team. But so do they. We've punched them in the mouth 3 times this series, and the prior two times they came back on the road and punched us in the mouth pretty good. They showed a lot of fortitude coming back a few times in that Detroit series too.

And for some strange reason, despite a regular season well under .500 on the road this year and a bunch of 23 and 24 year olds, they've been outstanding away from Amalie this postseason to the tune of 6-3. They are 4-1 at MSG this year.

This isnt the Caps coming in here with history against them.

As long as the boys get together for a fuckin' movie Thursday night though all will be good.
they didn't play all that well in that Detroit game 7, though
Greg from LI : 5/27/2015 9:32 am : link
And they weren't facing Henrik Lundqvist. I don't care how much success they've had against him this season - Game 7 in the Garden is a different beast.
.
arcarsenal : 5/27/2015 9:35 am : link
Between Bishop floundering last night (injury related or not) and the way Cooper sounded in that post game, I sure as hell wouldn't be confident going into this game if I were a Bolts fan.

There's a lot more experience on our side.

I truly believe if Tampa was going to get us out, they had to do it last night.
Bishop really..
FatMan in Charlotte : 5/27/2015 9:41 am : link
hasn't played that great. The guy gives up rebounds continually. Holtby was much stronger in goal. The difference is that TB's offense is a lot better than WASH's.
Hope you're right
MetsAreBack : 5/27/2015 9:43 am : link
but my pessimistic approach has worked thus far and i'm not changing it now. You go with what got you here.

Hank with the Broadway hat last night by the way - would have given it to Brass Ball personally, but whatevs. Nashty referred to 'it working last time' though (Hank got the Hat game 6 in Washington) - so maybe the boys are a little 'stitious' too

TB
Fish : 5/27/2015 9:44 am : link
hung Bishop out to dry. Rangers were swarming and TB did nothing about it. Bishop had big saves and Rangers kept coming. Killorn flying into Bishop did not help either.
agreed, arc
Greg from LI : 5/27/2015 9:45 am : link
Last night was their moment and they didn't get the job done.

BTW it was so nice to see Miller finally get one. He's been so close so many times, and he had one helluva game last night.
Yeah I figured Bishop was hurt last night
MetsAreBack : 5/27/2015 9:46 am : link
but looking at the replays today, that's the best period of hockey this offense has played in the postseason probably since Game 1 of the Flyers series last year when Emery had no chance back there.

We played great in game 1 too though and the last 10 minutes of game 4... and nothing carried over. Have to correct that and take away their hope early on Friday.
I think the biggest key
Matt M. : 5/27/2015 9:46 am : link
will be putting continued pressure on Bishop. that is not limited to first shots, but getting guys in front to capitalized on the rebounds. Prior to this series, he was pretty good at avoiding tons of rebounds both with his glove work and his stick handling. He hasn't killed the Rangers this series.

The games they lost they did so from a lack of discipline at both ends of the ice. Their D has been porous for long stretches, leaving Hank out to dry. But, their offense has also missed golden opportunities. They have had some excellent chances where they were either habitually wide or did not take advantage of big rebounds. The games they won, these have not been the issue. If they play a sound game on D and play aggressively on O, they should win.
I assume Islander fans are rooting for the Rangers this series.
BrettNYG10 : 5/27/2015 9:48 am : link
This could be the only chance they have of keeping their 19 series straight record since the Lightning will win at least the next four Cups. Probably eight or nine.
I thought about game 4 versus last night
Greg from LI : 5/27/2015 9:53 am : link
And while they scored a bunch in that third period too, the way they did it was different. They got the puck in the net but they weren't dominating the ice. Last night's third period was complete domination. They were beating the Bolts to loose pucks, they were winning the battles on the boards, they were coming at the net in waves. I don't know that they'll play as well as that again, but it was encouraging to see since it's been a while since the last time they played that way.
good one, Brett! Didnt seem forced or anything!!

but guys kept tripping over their own skates.

With two days off can we pretty please make sure the ice is in decent shape on Friday, MSG!? Apparently a concert thursday night (?) makes me a little nervous when it comes to Friday ice conditions. I know they've done it a thousand times... but we've all seen games in recent years at MSG where for some reason the ice has sucked.

We lose and its miserable - but i've got a free vacation at least

IIRC, they did hedge - but the hedges didn't work fast enough and leverage blew them up.

I don't use leverage and am pretty much always right.

I'm actually well on my way to the poor house. I bought a ticket for a show on May 29th when we were down 3-1 to the Caps, thinking we were unlikely to win that series, and even if we did the next one would be unlikely to go seven and/or land on that night.

So I had to take a $7 loss on the sale thanks to StubHub's rapeage.

Staal and Girardi are having issues dealing with the lightning speed. Mac has been inconsistent and a turnover machine at the worst times. The defense has been porous since Game 1 in this series. It's time for our best defenders to show up.

Dont get me started on stubhub. They've made tens of thousands off me the last several years - so what did they do this February to me and countless others who have not given them a single fraud or even minor issue in years? They raised prices by 5-10% and instituted a ridiculous 20% charge if you happen to sell your tickets on two sites near the same time or otherwise can't deliver for whatever reason.

They take 30% of the sales price on every transaction - no matter if the seller is trusted with proven track record or not. Even banks and airlines offer preferred pricing and service -- but these assholes dont.

Unfortunately, I dont like ticketsnow either so I'm kind of stuck.
This was my first time using it as a seller.
