went 1 for 3 today and scored a run and by all accounts looked good at the plate.

I hope he gets game ready ASAP. His bat was sorely missed not to mention he seemed to call great games for this pitching staff.
TdA can't get back fast enough
Eric on Li : 5/26/2015 5:47 pm : link
out of all the bad luck stuff that's happened to the Mets so far him getting hit by a pitch has to be the most frustrating considering the circumstances.
For his great batting average in the minors
spike : 5/26/2015 6:00 pm : link
Plawecki just hasn't hit enough in the majors (yet).

No 7, 8, and 9 are typically automatic outs in the lineup.

Catchers just seem to always take longer. I think it's because there's so much mental stuff they have to worry about defensively. Would imagine an offensive player who profiles to be a similar "know the pitcher" type of hitter would have even that much more on their plate.
Montero
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 6:22 pm : link
threw today and is expected to throw off a mound tomorrow. Good news for him.

He hasn't looked as lost as TDA did when he first came up. The Mets asked a lot of him when TDA went down. I will be glad when TDA gets back but this experience will likely be real helpful in Plawecki's long term development.
Harvey had a good bullpen session today.

I agree with this. He actually wasn't really hitting in AAA when he got called up anyway. I think if he goes down and works on some things he's going to catch fire and come back at some point with a whole other world of confidence.
3-0 good guys

deGrom has struck out 7 of his last 9 battters
NewBlue : 5/26/2015 8:10 pm : link
Granted it's a weak hitting team but he is dealing
I don't know about everyone else
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 8:11 pm : link
but the last few games deGrom has looked like the best pitcher in baseball. He has been virtually un-hittable. Shades of 2013 Harvey.
Amazing to hear that
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 8:13 pm : link
Aaron Harang also credits Dan Warthen for teaching him his changeup. He went from scrap heap to flat out good joining and leaving the Mets.

Add him to the very long list of pitchers that credit Warthen for making them a better player.
Just let the met pitchers swing away
PhiPsi125 : 5/26/2015 8:18 pm : link
I've never seen a bunch of pitchers worse at bunting than the mets. JFC

Its so weird because they all seem like they can hit a little too.
There you go..
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 8:25 pm : link
Since June 26th of last year... deGrom has the lowest ERA in the league, better than Kershaw or anyone.

Degrom should always be swinging. Dude can hit. It's like having a DH when he pitches. I hate watching him bunt.
It's not just the pitchers
steve in ky : 5/26/2015 8:26 pm : link
This team is bad at bunting as a whole. Probably just a sign of the times where less time seems to be paid to the small details of the game. I bet if we watched other teams as often as we do the Mets it wouldn't be all that different.
Way to go Robles
PhiPsi125 : 5/26/2015 9:09 pm : link
Completely fucked up degroms night with four pitches. This team is sooooo hard to root for.
LOL

job by the pen tonight. Disgusting.
If there is a God
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 9:25 pm : link
the Mets will lose tonight. They don't deserve anything other than to choke on this loss all night after that pathetic display.
Citifield
spike : 5/26/2015 9:28 pm : link
is going to be empty in a month.
Unreal Cuddy
Rflairr : 5/26/2015 9:34 pm : link
You got to get the sac fly there. Unreal. Good hitters come here and can't do the fundamental shit right.
The Mets
spike : 5/26/2015 9:37 pm : link

Unfortunately at the cost of THIS season. He should have been gone last season.
Black and Parnell
spike : 5/26/2015 9:46 pm : link
can't get here soon enough. Hopefully they are healthy
Collins is a joke
Chris L. : 5/26/2015 9:53 pm : link
but remember he is cheap so therein lies the key to his longevity. I swear the guy would make Barry Bonds bunt. When was the last time we actually scored when he tried to bunt a guy over. It never works because we have such horrible hitters in the clutch but Terry just keeps on trying to bang a circle into a square hole.
black and parnell
Tanker20 : 5/26/2015 10:02 pm : link
each with a scoreless inning tonight in AA

Sorry if this was mentioned earlier in the thread

Also Matz pitching now
Flores
spike : 5/26/2015 10:29 pm : link
with the game winner!!
F U Collins!
Flores again baby.
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 10:29 pm : link
This dude is starting to get that clutch reputation he had in the minors at the major league level.

First with the clutch sac fly and then with the game winner.
Flores
spike : 5/26/2015 10:31 pm : link
is the perfect no 5 / 6 hitter. There is no way he is getting out of the lineup.
I really like Flores' bat
Eric on Li : 5/26/2015 10:36 pm : link
I think he has as much upside as any hitter in the system.
Its really too bad
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 10:40 pm : link
Wright couldn't be a part of this lineup. Some of the bats are finally coming around. Have to think with TDA and Wright we would have had a really nice lineup going right now.

Oh well. I'd look to go after a Zobrist if Wright isn't coming back and we'll be close to whole again.

Sources: #Mets insured Wright contract. Once he misses 60 days, team would recoup 75 percent of contract while he is unable to play.

Zobrist is 34 and just got off the DL himself.

He'd be a nice bandaid. Not a permanent solution. Better than Cambell/Muno thats for sure.
Matz looking good early
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 10:50 pm : link
No hits through 3.
They need to get Matz up with the big club
Eric on Li : 5/26/2015 10:53 pm : link
I know there's a numbers crunch, but Gee should be in the BP.
Yup. Its Matz time.
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2015 10:57 pm : link
Trade One of Colon, Neise, or Gee and put another in the pen.

Parnell and Black might actually make it back and reinforce the pen soon. Mejia will be back in a month. Pitching is gold.

TDA is coming back. If Wright isn't coming back trade for a bat. If he is coming back... great.
Blevins too
