If you listen to Big Blue kickoff live, they keep saying get the 5 best OL on the field. I don't fully agree with it. I think Put the best player in the best position for the player and the team to succeed.
So when I see Pugh at LG and Richburg at C, I like how that looks because that's where the "prognosticators" think is there best position. They may be wrong, but I like it. I also like that RG is where Schwartz is slated and Jerry is clearly the baclip
With a bad blow that happened with Beaty's injury, I do like how they came out. I hope it sticks and is successful.
Is Hart is 2nd string at OG right now. The reason I like it, is because if he's experienced (in college) , huge and young and if he is that RG of the future it's great to see him second string and then you have plans for 4/5 of that line.
I'm not shocked to see him at 2nd string, but it's nice to see.
Wide receiver Corey Washington made two nice goal-line touchdown catches against cornerback Prince Amukamara.
How is it any different from what he did in the preseason last year and still found him in street clothes for most of the season. They already told him his issue and then went out to acquire people at his position that are capable of doing what they want from Washington.
Also, if their intent all along was for Flowers to be a LT, then I have no problem with him getting moved there now, as a result of the injury. It would be one thing if they expected him to sit for a year or two. But, he was slated for RT from the moment they drafted him. If that was only because Beatty was under contract, then this just accelerates their long term plan. I am fine with that.
I also like sticking to their plan of Pugh at LG. That's obviously what they wanted to do this season. So, why move him to LT or RT if it is a temporary move predicated by the injury.
In this regard, the injury may be a blessing in disguise. The way I look at it, Beatty was a good, not great LT. So, even as a rookie, Flowers just has to be good to play this year. There is no pressure for him to be amazing out of the gate. He just has to fill in. As such, Newhouse just has to be better than an injured Pugh was last year, which really shouldn't be hard for a decent veteran. If guys play to their ability, the OL should be better than last year.

The big "if" here is if Flowers can handle LT early in his career. But if he can, then you have LT, LG, and OC set for a while.
On the right side, you put Schwartz at the position where he is needed most...RG or RT. And Schwartz again said today he prefers the right side.
So the ball is now in the court of Newhouse, Jerry, Bamrio, Cleary, Donnelly, Hart, Mosley.
