“I would say Carmelo [Anthony] … Carmelo is viewed as a top-five player … He has the talent to be able to facilitate … He’s gotta get out of the first, second rounds — he’s gotta get his teams to the playoffs. LeBron, with that [Knicks] roster, LeBron would’ve gotten them to the playoffs. They would’ve been at least an eight-seed.”

Alert the presses!
He's a lock. And I kinda hate him.
So is Tracy McGrady a hall of famer?
I laugh who kill melo for not getting out of the first round when he lost to the spurs and lakerz...
wow that sort of brilliant insight you just can't pay enough for...
actually, Melo and the Nuggets did reach the Western Conference Finals in 2009, but lost to the Lakers in 6 games. That was probably the peak of Melo's career.
He's not overrated. The lack of any MVP-love whatsoever from the media is proof.
But he's overhyped for sure. The LeBron personal rivalry props Melo up by default because of Bron's greatness. Plus, Melo plays in NYC and gets a lot of national attention for his performance.

Melo got plenty of attention in Denver. It's only when player play in NY that they're instantly considered "overrated".
See: Jeter, Derek
Jeter was listed as the most overrated player every freakin year. It wasn't true then and it's not true now. People just hate all things NY.
Quote:
Melo has finished in the Top 10 of the MVP vote just two times. In '10 and '13, with '13 being the only year where he was actually in the MVP mix.

Need we mention Eli as well?
I think he wrestles on TNA now.
When I think about that statement, you're right. I never seen Melo flop. Actually most of the times I seen him bark at an official I always thought he had a genuine beef. I always wonder why officials respect Harden calls. Lebron appears to be trolling with his flops so I'm never sure to take him serious.
I like Carmelo. But I disagree, at this point.

Absolute lock. BASKETBALL HOF includes college... he has an NCAA title + his NBA accolades
8 time all star
39th all-time in scoring
If he averages his usual 1900 ish point per season he's a LOCK to finish top 20 all-time in scoring. I don't even especially like Melo but he's a LOCK. Joe Dumars and James Worthy are HOFers.

Well, you'd be wrong. Melo is 100% a HoFer.
You must not be very familiar with the Basketball hall of fame.

2. Tim Duncan 1.0000
3. Kevin Garnett 1.0000

14. Tony Parker 0.9386
They pulled the same crap with Melo when he was in Denver. No different from what they used to say about Barkley. To some writers, short of picking up an entire team and carrying them to the Finals, they're overrated.
that move was made for financial reasons. They were up against the apron.
Playing with Lebron did nothing for him in terms of statistics. He looked like less of a player than he really is.
agree that he gets overlooked. On the other hand, he makes the all star team every year and has received three max contracts.
No Piston bias there.
I dont get it. This has been Lebron's worst playoff performance in years. Shooting 43% from the floor, 16% from down town, 76% from the line, and averaging well over 4 turnovers per game.
Its commendable that he they got to the finals minus love and a hurt Kyrie, but Lebron has played much better in playoffs than he has this year.

And another reason why BR is the worst webpages on the Internet.
Are you kidding me with Vince Carter??? In what world would Vince make it and not Melo? And I love Vince. Its not like hes ever had playoff success himself when he was the lead man.
Melo already has as many All-Star games as Vince and 3 times as many All-NBA team selections than him and he is 8 years younger. You can go further and Melo has an NCAA Title and 2 more Olympic Medals.
I agree.
