NFT: Finally, a fertilizer I love...milorganite

banks58 : 5/27/2015 7:21 pm
It's the slow season and I love BBI's opinions off topic. I'm a lawn junkie and I swear by this product. Never would have tried it if I didn't just recently get a dog. I'm an older guy and put a lot of effort into my lawn. The last thing I swore by was Webber grills. Amazing how things happen by accident. Smells awful for a week but it's better than anything I've ever used and cheap. Totally shocked!! Anybody else use this?
havent used it

Glad to hear the lawn looks great! Honestly, as an older dude, I've tried it all. I enjoy the challenge each year. I've read every article and idea I can get my hands on. I only posted this out of surprise. Unreal product. Like I said, the last time I said something like this was about Webber grills.
Spell check!

Really? That's a huge challenge for me
I use it a lot

it used to have a lot of heavy metals in it (not surprising given where it comes from) but they have taken care of that.
when/how often do you apply it?

I know nothing about lawns.
you better stick to Scotts...

and feed it!
I would feed in the spring and fall

It really doesn't need more than that.

If you are mulching your lawn clippings, that is also food for the lawn.
Milorganite is the only fertilizer I use

The stuff is absolutely amazing. Doesn't burn the lawn, doesn't need to be watered in. I know some lawn nuts that put down 2x bag rate EVERY WEEK.

Check out what it's done for my lawn:

I am moving from a home where I have maybe a 15'x30' lawn

to a home with 1.5 acres...and I haven't the first idea on how to maintain a lawn properly.

I figured I would build off this thread -- anyone have any websites they recommend for learning how to properly maintain a lawn for all the various seasons?
