Damontre Moore has worked hard this off season

OTIS70 : 5/27/2015 8:31 pm
I remember a while back it was mentioned that he went back to school. 2 A's, 4 B's & 1 C. Today the reporter from Newsday (Tom Rock) mentioned he came to camp weighing 256lbs up from 248lbs last year. Body Fat was lower as well.
I believe you add that up and it shows discipline and focus. No doubt much has to be demonstrated on the field before he gets an opportunity to start, but I'm excited by what he might bring to the table this year. This D-Line is heading in the right direction, and I think he can be a big part of it.

Tom Rock also said this of him... "said Spags' system is more similar to what he played at Texas A& M. If given opportunity, he believes he will thrive."

Dicipline, Focus, and Confidence...nuff said

Let's see it!

256 vs 248 - Is that what Moore came into camp at both years?
Damontre Moore's issue hasnt been gaining weight

its actually keeping the weight on..
DeMontre Moore's issue

has been that Perry Fewell is an idiot.
His shoulder issues...

..probably have a lot to do with keeping the weight on and with another surgery this year I'm sure he's not yet where the coaches want him weight wise (I'm sure they're targeting 260+). Thankfully he's still very, very young.

I'm hoping they can carve a niche for him that plays to his strengths and use that to bring him along as he's beginning to mature as a Pro. Unfortunately situational pass rushers suffer in terms of opportunities when you're a team that plays from behind as much as we do.
With JPP as his mentor

how could he go wrong?
Didn't they say

Moore hurt his shoulder back in his rookie season when he blocked a punt in the pre-season in Pittsburgh? He fully extended his arms on the block, instead of keeping them lower and when he dove and landed, he messed his shoulder up. I have high hopes for him this year to be a break out guy, if he can stay healthy.
totally impressed

dude showing some major maturity.

Made a big impact when he did see the field last season. If you look back to some of JPP's sacks you will see Moore first causing pressure from the other side. If healthy,Moore will play a huge role in the defense this year.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. When your team sucks ass, throw caution to the wind and let the dogs off the leash.
He is going to have

15 sacks this year. Going to be a monster against RTs. Had very little playing time last year. Only played like 30% of the defensive snaps & had 5.5 sacks along with 32 tackles. Thinking he's gonna see somewhere between 75%-85% of the snaps this year barring injury.
I really think he's primed for a breakout season.
j_rud : 5/27/2015 11:26 pm : link
He should have been playing over Kiwanuka last year. These numbers are mind numbingly frustrating...

Kiwi- 558 snaps, 28 tackles, 2.5 sacks
Moore- 302 snaps, 32 tackles, 5.5 sacks

First of all, how do you manage just 28 tackles in over 500 plays? That truly is pathetic. Despite playing a little more than half of the snaps Kiwi did Moore managed to put up better numbers. Break it down a little more and Kiwi was averaging a tackle every 20 plays, Moore averaged a tackle every 10. Twice the production with half the opportunity.

Barring a truly special performance from Odi I'll be very surprised if Moore isn't starting. He'll be 23 and already entering his third season. Turn the kid loose. Considering who was playing in front of him last year it's passed time.
DaMonster.

I'd love to see him live up to that name this year. God knows we could use it.

has been the forgotten gem on this team. A lot of things have to break right, but there is serious potential there. The mere notion that he was the #2 pick on some early mock drafts after his final season indicate serious on-field production potential. Spags's success here could hinge on whether he breaks out.
Moore
Mr. Nickels : 5/28/2015 1:08 am : link
was a projected top 10 pick too originally. He has a ton of talent. I really love our top 3 talented DEs in JPP Moore and Odighi (and Ayers).
we tend to forget how young he is

He has talent. I hope a bright future due to growth.

He's younger than Owa.
He's built differently from OO,
DG : 5/28/2015 8:12 am : link
i hope i'm proven wrong, but i think he's too light in the pants to be an effective starter.
He may be a classic tweener, but as a 3rd rounder, if he becomes an
Victor in CT : 5/28/2015 8:20 am : link
effective pass rush specialist, situational player and continues as a special teams contributor then it was a good pick. And he's a good kid too.
Even if Moore
Glover : 5/28/2015 9:23 am : link
is a little light in the pants there will be plenty of opportunities for him to play as a pass rusher. Its like having Jennings, Vereen, and Williams, they all have different strengths, and they will all play. And if teams want to run hurry up to keep certain personnel on the field, they usually pass, to keep the bigger linemen and linebackers on the field. He's not that guy, and it might not be OO either, probably be Ayers, but Moore has just as much of a chance to be the starter.
I think that Moore
gmen9892 : 5/28/2015 9:45 am : link
Can excel as a pass-rush specialist on 2nd and long and 3rd down and could easily hit the 10 sack mark this season.

These factors alone, should make him better:
1)Experience
2)Better Def. Coordinator
3)Another year in the weight room putting on both more weight and muscle.

Thanks, you made choke on my soda. Comic relief to start the day. Nice.

Good signs
JonC : 5/28/2015 10:34 am : link
now eliminate the mental errors during practice, and it will carry over into games and more reps for him.

It will be interesting to see how Spags deploys him, as he might be athletic enough to play some Elephant looks (5th DL), but he's got to demonstrate mental grasp and consistency versus the rush.

Spag's, these are your DE's....
Doomster : 5/29/2015 1:50 pm : link
JPP....he will eventually sign the tag, but don't expect him early for camp, unless the Giants cave in....

Harrah....Hurrah?

Moore......design some shoulder pads with A/C units built in...

Double O.....design some hip pads with some A/C units built in....

Selvie.....will not make you forget Tuck, or maybe even Kiwi...

Stanton...another UDFA and he was a Tackle last year...

Wynn.....UDFA.....he is what he is...

Jenkins....a wish and a prayer....

Only JPP and Selvie have real NFL experience......Jenkins is old....the rest are basically rookies.....and some come with A/C baggage.....

Spags, keep an eye on that waiver wire....
Spags, this is Doomster.
