1. Screenshot it. They need to know what ads are causing issues AND where on the page they are coming from.
2. E-mail Eric/Gary/Mods. Include said screenshot, any pertinent information about the ad, what browser you are using and on what device (laptop vs phone vs tablet, operating system as well) so they can try to replicate the problem en route to getting it solved.
Without the above, there's not much they can do. The more details you send them directly (just posting it here is NOT enough) the more likely things can be solved. Just an FYI.
Vertical the ads push all the posts to the extreme left and each post only contains a few lines making it very annoying to read. It's happening with a few different ads not just one. I've seen others say they had this issue too, not sure which phone they had been referring to. Someone advised flipping the phone horizontally, but in that case the ad covers up some of the text of the first 3-5 messages in the thread.
Thanks! I see switching to landscape as less of an issue. Not ideal, but workable.
If I understand what you mean here correctly (and I might not) you are dead wrong.
Almost NO ONE wants to use landscape mode on their phone. It doesn't fit right in your hand. It's a very big deal if you can't view the site properly in portrait.
Well, right now there is no way to fix the landscape issue.
We're doing the best we can. The only other options are (1) to dump the forum and go with an out-of-the-box solution (similar to other forums on the net), or (2) get rid of the ads - which will also close the site.
....you may want to switch to a out-of-box package. Will make your life easier. Then everybody can wax poetic about the good old days, and you know people like to do that. Plus they can tell the noobs how things were better when.....always a popular pastime.
If you're using an ad blocker,

you'll see the space since that's where the ads are located at the moment.
However, when Gary showed everyone a test model of what it would like, the reviews were all negative.
Complaining is also a popular pastime. With that system they can still complain and yet your life is easier. Look up, they are complaining about a few inches of blank space, they will always find something to complain about.
I tried it without the ad blocker, and the white space below the last post was gone! ....and replaced by ads. So there's still a big gap between the "add comment" button and the post above it. I guess that was a newly designed ad layout?
what Gary did is if you are viewing the site on a screen of a certain size, the ads are moved so they don't mess with the text. So if you are using an ad blocker, then the white space is most likely the moved ads on your smaller screen.
...a lot of mouses...mice...whatever, they come with a scroll wheel between the 2 buttons. Flick that an extra time with your finger and it will move right past the ad or blank space.
FYI, as I mentioned before, we are working on more mobile friendly tweaks, but that will take some time. We hope to roll out some new things this offseason.
That's two comments of that nature you've directed at me now :)
I'm not speaking on behalf of myself with my "complaints." I've told Eric on these threads recently that I'm a reader and frequent visitor regardless of how he fixes these issues, if he even decides to fix them at all. I'm in.
So take my feedback as constructive criticism. I work in web management so I constantly receive this type of feedback when updating the site I work on. I'm just trying to help.
Eric, it is on a desk top computer running explorer 9. Not the worst but just bothersome.
1. ads overlay far right of posts.
2. left side is off screen, this is just first letter of posters.

Don't take it personal. I can't be snarky and sarcastic to my customers and clients, so I take advantage of it when I can. You should hear what I say to unreasonable people complaining to some kid behind a counter just trying to do their job when I am out shopping.
Anger .

Joke?

That said, I just checked out the site on Chrome on these three devices:
My desktop.
Mini iPad
Kindle
And did not see an issue.
1. Overlays post on the far right
2. pushes post to left, I usually miss first or second letter.
Oh I am using Explorer 9
Running iOS 8.3 safari

As for the landscape issue, really? It's too hard to turn the phone horizontally?

The white space issue is happening for a lot of us.
And yes sir... landscape is a major pain in the ass. I don't think it's nitpicking to say many would be very annoyed by it.

At least that worked on my chrome.
However, when Gary showed everyone a test model of what it would like, the reviews were all negative.

Unfortunate that the new layout has ads in that spot now.

I've actually seen zero problems on desktops, both MAC and PC, and on Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari.
That's what is frustrating. I can't even see the same problem.
I don't know why any text would be blocked on a desktop...that doesn't even make sense to me.
But I'm on my work computer, also a mac, but with a gigantic monitor, I have the huge areas of white space.
Hope that helps.
