NFT: Router help

Okay I have an old router I have updated the software but its still only pushing 20mbs while my cable modem is bringing in 60mbs

I hooked my computer straight to the modem and got 60Mbs then tried wireless right next to the router and only got 20Mbs

SO I figure its time to get a new one it is about 4 years old

Can someone tell me is the tri band the way I need to go or is that to much for what I am doing. Typical house Netflix on one TV and wife on the ipad probably facebook.

Also can you recommend any router that might be well priced and what I need

coverage. Granted, the bands used will be dependent on the clients in your home, and not all of them may be able to use the extra bandwidth (and if you're only streaming from the internet and don't need much internal LAN traffic, you won't even need it).

If money isn't a primary consideration, look at the Nighthawk 1750 from Netgear and the RT-AC66U from Asus. Two excellent routers around the $150 mark.

Nighthawk 1900 from Netgear and the RT-AC87R from Asus. Both are excellent, and their connection speed is outstanding. I replaced the Netgear with the Asus because the Asus has features that allow me to control when my teenagers' devices can access the internet. We often have multiple movies and online games streaming at the same time, and you would not know anyone else in the house was online,the connection speed is that good.
