NFT: Amazon allowance.

wgenesis123 : 5/28/2015 9:26 am
Got an Email from Amazon about setting up an allowance for someone you would give gift cards. I pay child support for my 18 year old daughter but its not even lunch money. Its $8.15 per week. Thinking about setting up one for my daughter for say $100.00 per month. What do you guys think of this Amazon idea for of course Amazon to make money. I know my daughter would love this idea.
How about you put that money
spike : 5/28/2015 9:27 am : link
In an investment account
For my daughter, no way. The state would take that money from her.
wgenesis123 : 5/28/2015 9:31 am : link
They might take this once they get wind of it.
My daughter has behavior issues resulting from her mother
wgenesis123 : 5/28/2015 9:41 am : link
drinking alcohol during pregnancy. The state took custody of Grace a couple months ago and have labelled her Bi-polar and retarded. They drugged her to get her to fail an IQ test and she still passed, so they broke her glasses and gave her the test again and she failed. This granted stae and federal money for her. Now they plan on buying her a house and paying someone 24/7 to watch her. Its crazy.
gosh that's a lot

I'm sorry your daughter and you have to go through all of this.
Thank you Spike but everyone has their problems.

I just am looking for a way to provide my daughter some spending money that the state doesn't have say so over.

Wait, what?

How do you know this? Do you have evidence? Can she live on her own or are the results something you/she wants?

You're right that is crazy af.

The state is PA.
wgenesis123 : 5/28/2015 12:45 pm : link
Grace was born with alcohol and other drugs in her system and suffered withdrawal as a newborn. Had to give her Phenobarbital for about 6 months to ween her off it. She has had problems from birth and can not be left alone. Her behavior is both anger and destructive. I myself have a spare bedroom and would love to have her here with me. I can't get any help from the state in pursuing that option. Lehigh County had custody when they broke her glasses to fail the IQ test. This thread did get much more complicated than I had intended and I am barely scratching the surface of the issues.

Yes. This was my first thought. I could certainly be wrong of course- if the information is coming from the daughter, he's only gotten one side of the story. As the saying goes, make like a tree and split. Or something, something lies somewhere in between.

It HAD to be the state. There is no way it was his daughter who has "behavior that is both anger and destructive"

They did it to get the funding. As to the drugs, that is done quite often to control children like Grace. Giving her the test while they had her all drugged up was was, well draw your own conclusions. I do know firsthand from talking to them that they were desparate to somehow get her to fail the test. My daughter claims they broke her glasses. I had to buy new glasses. They gave her the test while her glasses were broken. Last time we were in court Grace complained to the judge(or whatever they call them in Pa.) that she was not mentally retarded, that they tested her with no glasses, and no one disputed it.
I know I'm missing something but.....

so she didn't have any representation at a hearing with a magistrate(?) that was trying to determine if she was fit to take care of herself?
I had an attorney and that did not help.

But now I have my own home with a room for Grace, so I want to try again. Problem is I have no way to take care of her while I am at work. Got to get that problem figured out first. Seems to me if they are willing to buy her a house and give her 24/7 babysitting than it would be cheaper for them to help me take care of her. I just don't believe they will do that. They lose that precious control that seems so important to them.

You're claiming that they've purposefully set her up to fail two IQ tests. What evidence do you have to support that other than your suspicions?

To assume your conclusion without evidence is conspiratorial thinking.

OK wgenesis - you've opened a pandora's box; Questions:
kinard : 5/28/2015 3:16 pm : link
1) How old was Grace when the mother died?;
2) Did the mother have custody of the Grace up till the time she died?
3) Were you ever married to the mother? Did you ever participate in the custody hearing? Assuming that for state or county to be given custody of Grace there had to be a custody hearing at some point?
4) Grace must be on a ton of meds....Where is social worker in all of this?
5) Has Grace been declared legally incompetent by a Pennsylvania court?
6) I'm guessing there are hundreds of PA attorneys (including legal aid lawyers) who would take up your cause in an instant. Spend $50 for a consultant sit down with a good atty. Call the PA State Bar Association - They'll recommend a reputable domestic relations lawyer. Go from there....

I think I'd defer to his 18 years experience with his daughter over your 5 minutes of thinking about whether she can handle getting $100 a month.

Can I ask why cash isnt an option? Do you see her? It strikes me that papering the transactions is not preferable if you think the state will just seize funds.

Amazon's program provides the ability to use parental restrictions. At the most restrictive, every purchase must be reviewed and approved by the parent before it goes through.
I don't know..
FatMan in Charlotte : 5/28/2015 4:16 pm : link
about that. I mean we have a situation where a girl passes an IQ test drugged, but fails when glasses are broken. Has slight behavorial issues, but is kicked out of 17 homes she's placed in. Dad doesn't seem to be an option to leave her with permanently for some reason.

He provides $8 and maybe a Big Mac in child support a week (still say he should invest in carrots). State has intentionally wanted the girl to be a ward of the state even though she now of legal age.

So much doesn't make sense here.

My take is that wrestling with the issue of $100 should be about 478th on the priorities list here.

You guys are asking fair questions
wgenesis123 : 5/28/2015 4:43 pm : link
but some would take a lifetime to answer. The mother died 6 years ago. Mother and Father have never had custody of Grace since birth. I paid huge child support while she was a child. The current weird amount for child support was decided without any input from me. My mother had custody of Grace for 17 years and lost her to the county, they immediately took $663.00 per month in child support plus Grace's Social Security that she recieved after Mom died. This lesser amount is as a result of her being 18 years old.
thanks for the clarification
