NFT: Lightning vs. Rangers. Game 7 PREGAME Thread

Anakim : 5/28/2015 11:22 am
I'll spare you all from the snarky jokes.

Few notes:

Rangers practice at noon and whether or not Zuccarello will play in Game 7 hinges on his ability to practice.

Darren Rovell & #8207;@darrenrovell 19m19 minutes ago
Avg resale price for Game 7 Rangers-Lightning is $922. Blackhawks-Ducks? $299, according to @TiqIQ.

Our most likely newest Ranger for next year:

Seth Rothman & #8207;@RothmanHockey 14h14 hours ago
#Rangers prospect Oscar Lindberg had breakout postseason for HFD. 3 goals, 13 assists, 16 points in 15 gms. He went 28-28--56 in reg. season
Keep this thread going tomorrow!

I'd be surprised if Lindberg doesn't make the team next year
Greg from LI : 5/28/2015 11:29 am : link
He's got a really solid two-way game.
Where would Lindberg fit in
Sonic Youth : 5/28/2015 11:30 am : link
Or rather, where should we pencil him in? I don't know a lot about him, but does he have top 6 potential?

I'm hoping we see a similar trajectory as JT.
Lindberg should take MSLs place
MetsAreBack : 5/28/2015 11:33 am : link

the extra room (Cap looking to be $71.5 million next year) should enable us to sign some guys. I'd also move a RHD to open space for one of the rooks we'd otherwise have to waive.

Key question is what Talbot could net in a trade. I have my doubts that a guy with limited history and one year left on his deal could net a #1 or solid top 9 player in return... but if offered by St Louis or whoever, you have to consider it.
I think that both Lindberg and McIlrath would have to clear
yatqb : 5/28/2015 11:37 am : link
waivers to stay at Hartford next year, so I think Lindberg is a lock for a roster spot. Dylan's another story; not sure what they'll do with him.

Personally, I would move Hayes to the Wing and slot Lindberg in to the 3rd or 4th line C. That would give us Center depth of Brassard/Stepan/Lindberg/Moore. Extremely solid. He's more of a defensively responsible C, but he'll be able to pot a few in the NHL.
Can we just sticky this thread so I don't have to search

Klein has an extremely reasonable cap hit, especially for a 2nd pair guy (3 million). I wouldn't move him. I wouldn't mind moving Girardi and then having Staal and McDonagh pair up. However, I think McIlrath is done with us. I just don't see him fitting AV's up-tempo style with D-Men being good skaters and pitching in.
I view

Lindberg as more of a Moore replacement and think Buch and/or Tambellini as an MSL replacement.

Well Zuccs was never going to play tomorrow

I'm kind of surprised you have to bother with the non-contact jerseys this time of year... is there any hitting whatsoever in a late May practice? These guys are so sore.

But whatever. Hopefully we win tomorrow and see him out there on Wednesday.

Maybe, but Lindberg is a much smoother skater and more Brassard like than Moore. Then again, I never thought Fast would be so good in his current role.

Could be, but Tambo probably starts next year in Hartford and Buchanan will still be in Russia. Moore will still be under contract.
this was a truly awesome pass

The pass itself was beautiful. Could not have been any more perfect.

Hard to believe that Miller was actually a healthy scratch not so long ago. He and Fast have really had coming out parties in these playoffs. I expected really good things from Miller, though.

That line was just killer. Brassard has become a big time player. Can't wait to see them back at it tomorrow night.

I haven't seen him play, but an old friend from high school is the Wolfpack's PA announcer (and he works Ranger games from time to time too, the lucky bastard), so my comments were based on what he's told me. I haven't asked him about McIlrath though.

My concern with McIlrath is that having him, Girardi and Staal would mean half of the defense is really slow.

He has. But to be fair to the crtics, he did also build up a healthy reserve of deserved shit over the course of the season.
Glass has played very well for Tanner Glass
Greg from LI : 5/28/2015 3:51 pm : link
By the standard of the average NHL 4th line player, he's been OK. Definitely has played better in the postseason than the regular season.
Lindberg
Deej : 5/28/2015 3:54 pm : link
I've been riding that horse forever. I think he'll be a great 3rd line center in a few seasons. Lindberg-Hags-Fast will be an all Swede shut down line with surprising offensive production. Book it.

He's also a playoff performer. When he was in the top Swedish league, he won the equivalent of their Conn Smythe.

If by "very well" you think 1 point in 18 games, a minus 1 rating overall, and about 14-15 sheltered shifts (9-10 minutes) per game is good..... then that's fine..... but your bar is set very low.

I actually think he takes less shit than he deserves. He was absolutely horrific for most of the regular season. People havent been shitting on him much during the playoffs, but more often than not he's just been good for Tanner Glass, not good overall.

He was a -12 in the regular season on a Presidents' trophy winning team. 5 on 5, the opposition outscored NY 2:1 when he was on the ice. He flashed a pathetic Corsi% of 43.5.
Glass

I havent gotten on Glass
gmen9892 : 5/28/2015 4:28 pm : link
Too much this playoffs. Hes hasn't been terrible, per say. That said, im still really not sure what he brings to the table. He will NEVER score a goal. Doesnt do much board work. He will throw his body 3-4 times a game. The puck is rarely ever on his stick for more than a second. And he is not needed for fights.

What exactly do you do here Tanner?

I'd love to hear his thoughts on McIlrath. I suspect he'll be the 7th dman next year unless he's traded.

Well, Glass did make his presence felt when he leveled Coburn.

(Hagelin also knocked Brian Boyle on his ass LOL)
BTW, it's totally fucking ridiculous that teams ask for compensation
BrettNYG10 : 5/28/2015 4:35 pm : link
For a fired coach. Penguins got a third for Blysma from Buffalo.
Hagelin is a guy who is not making much of an impact
Deej : 5/28/2015 4:38 pm : link
dont hear his name called that much. 0-1-1 in 12 games. Only 4 shots in the last 4 games.

Well in fairness the Penguins are still paying him a good amount of $
MetsAreBack : 5/28/2015 4:39 pm : link
I'm sure if Buffalo had agreed to pick up more of that tab, a draft pick would not have been exchanged. But Buffalo probably in an effort to save some money agreed to hand over the pick.
You'd think that Buff would call Pitt's bluff
Deej : 5/28/2015 4:41 pm : link
No way Pittsubrgh wants to keep paying Bylsma (who they should have never fired)

Hagelin could do more
MetsAreBack : 5/28/2015 4:42 pm : link
but I just remember plays like that game 2 beautiful feed to MSL that was inexplicably muffed. He's made some other plays with his speed too.

It can't be overstated how much MSL has brought down other members of his lines. It's not coincidence that Nash is playing better now that MSL is finally gone.

If its an offseason hire for either a president of hockey operations, a GM or a head coach, its a third-round pick that goes the other way for a guy thats under contract. If its an in-season hire, its a second-round pick.

For a coach, the season ends as soon as his season ends but for a GM or president of hockey operations, the draft is the cutoff for in-season/offseason.

It's ridiculous. A third round pick is still a good draft choice. To get it for a guy you fired is ridiculous.

Coaches get paid after they're "fired" because it's a guaranteed contract. So technically they still work for the team and have just been relieved of HC responsibilities.
that's ridiculous
MookGiants : 5/29/2015 12:22 am : link
no other sport treats a fired coach like that. If the other team wants to have any control over them, don't fire them.
