the exclusive titles that you like. I've always been a Sony Guy. Personally, the last of and uncharted games are unmatched by anything Microsoft has EVER put out. I'd go PS4 for that reason alone. Naughty Dog is THE best studio out there and they are Sony all the way.
and my Xbox One collects dust. Even much more than my Wii U. In my opinion, games on the PS4 look/run better and they have better exclusive games. But that's just me. Really, it just comes down to two things: the games each system will have that you like and what system your friends are playing on. And if you don't play online or share games when visiting someone, you can scratch off that second one and let the games be the determining factor.
I really hope Microsoft delivers with Halo V because they really screwed up the Master Chief Collection. I was looking forward to that so much. One of the biggest gaming blunders ever in my opinion.
and share the same opinion. My Xbone collects dust and is really only turned on when I'm watching TV (connected through the HDMI in). If it weren't for my friends being Xbox fanboys I would only have the PS4. I like the Sony exclusives more, though I did really enjoy Sunset Overdrive on the One. Graphically the PS4 blows the One out of the water but you won't notice unless you have the consoles side by side connected to two different TVs. Xbox does have the PS4 beat when it comes to the whole integrated entertainment thing, but if you're buying a console to game, get the PS4.
One other thing to keep in mind, if your a Call of Duty guy apparently the PS4 has a pretty weak showing of players to play with online and you'll be stuck searching for players more often. At least that's what I've been told.
Besides that, both are fine (I have both, for convoluted reasons). I like the xbone interface better, and use it for streaming watching and such aside from games. Kinect is more developed than the Sony camera.
PS4 has a slight graphics edge in some minor ways, but honestly, I don't notice it.
Both have good exclusives. Xbone has Halo games. PS4 has Bloodborne and Last of Us.
Either way....wait until at least the middle/end of June
E3 is around the corner and both systems are starting to see sales slow significantly.
MS has been getting beat up pretty bad and has already cut prices significantly and bundled a lot of software to move consoles. I'd expect a new bundle in the next few months with better value than what's on the market currently. I don't see a move from $350, but you never know - they're getting outsold somewhere in the 2:1 range globally. If nothing else, they're going to sweeten the pot to move Halo this Fall.
Sony has also seen their sales slow significantly, so I'd expect a price cut and/or a better bundle coming in the near-term future. You can get Last of US bundled right now, but I'd expect another game (likely a AAA title that isn't a remaster of a last-gen) by mid-June and a price cut sooner than later.
my console to play games, prefer PS4 exclusives (Bloodborne/Uncharted etc.), and think that down the line, Japanese developers might not port JRPGs over to XBone. Thus, I went with PS4 over XBone.
I'm happy with my choice. Only time I ever got a Microsoft console was XBox 360 and I constantly had red ring of death problems. Never again.

Apologies if its a dumb question. Helping my 12 year old make this very decision right now.
Electronic Entertainment Expo - basically where all the gaming companies make major announcements for their next 12 months (and beyond) and usually where you'll see things like price drops or enhancements to the product offering get announced.
...they provide a patch that allows you to play video files. I was about to purchase a ps4 (I have a ps3 and owned ps1 & 2) earlier this week, but found out that the console does not allow you to play video files from external drives. That's a bit of a disappointment because I'd rather centralize my media and game player into one console.
I've been a PS fanboy for years, but I bought an X Bone, mainly because more of my friends have an XB1 than a PS4. I don't regret my decision, nor do I think I'd regret my decision if I got a PS4.
I'll say this, though. The TV integration on XB1 is pretty useless without a Kinect.
of Xbox and Playstation and when the next gen came out I went with the PS4 due to the reviews. I have finished the Last of Us remastered, Tomb Raider, and Madden. All the other games don't do it for me. I am saving now for an Xbox one so I can get halo, gears of war remastered, and the next Tomb raider.
I don't think you can go wrong with either device at this point.
I like the Kinect makes remote controls optional....it is an entertainment device not a gaming console
The PS4 is faster and some would say has better exclusive games.
I personally like the XBox, but either one is probably fine.
I think Microsoft is better for online multiplayer, but I like Sony exclusives better.
Everything is pretty much the same, I believe.
Its for this reason I went from the Xbox 360 to the PS4 and haven't looked back.
If I was 15 I'd probably like PS4 more, but as an adult I like the Xbox one.
I really hope Microsoft delivers with Halo V because they really screwed up the Master Chief Collection. I was looking forward to that so much. One of the biggest gaming blunders ever in my opinion.
And what exclusives do you prefer?
I'm an XBO guy, but it doesn't really matter what my preference is. Answer those 2 above and you'll have your answer.

Absolutely 100% not true

NP, it starts June 16th and runs through the 18th - so not a long wait.

500GB PlayStation 4 Batman Arkham Knight Bundle Limited Edition - ( New Window )
To me, PS4 is the way to go. Better exclusives and gameplay IMO. I don't think you can go wrong with either one, however.
Bottom line: choose the system that most of your friends play.
I'll say this, though. The TV integration on XB1 is pretty useless without a Kinect.

yes, it is an exclusive for the Xbox one to counter Uncharted.
Isn't it a timed exclusive? Maybe I'm wrong but my impression is it will be on the ps4 on a later date.
I hate timed exclusives in video games.
