NFT: New York Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning, Game 7, 8:00pm

arcarsenal : 5/29/2015 8:36 am
This is what it's about, boys. Doesn't matter that we trailed this series 1-2 or 2-3. Doesn't matter that we won the last game or scored 7 goals. What matters is winning one hockey game tonight. That's it. Win one game and give ourselves another shot at taking care of what we couldn't last year.

I don't need to pump anyone up for this shit. If you love this team, your heart has been racing since the second you woke up. You know what's at stake, you know how unbelievably huge this game is. You know what's on the line.

If you're looking for a good omen, today's date is May 29th. On May 29th, 2014, the Rangers defeated the Canadiens at MSG to punch their ticket to the SCF. It was exactly a year to the day. Same venue. Let's get the same result.

Let's fucking do this.

Since last night. Damn near impossible to get anything done at work today. Just find a way tonight boys. Dont care if its 1-0.

#game7day
Rangers -165, Tampa +145
MetsAreBack : 5/29/2015 8:46 am : link

The non-empty net goals in this series are NYR 20, Tampa 19. Tampa is 2-1 in this building in this series, and 4-1 on the year.... despite that they were an under .500 club on the road during the season.

And you're getting about 1.5 your money to bet on them.

Vegas is begging and daring people to bet against Hank tonight.
Lets Go Rangers. Going to be a tough one.
Victor in CT : 5/29/2015 8:48 am : link
Hank has to be stellar. Brassard/Nash need to be dominant again.
I sure as hell wouldn't bet against Henrik Lundqvist in this spot.

an ice hockey match tonight?
Can't lose 3 on home ice
averagejoe : 5/29/2015 8:54 am : link
Rangers are overdue for a great game at home. If they can test Bishop early I think it will be over quickly. He is ready to collapse from the pressure. Tampa can score and Rangers can't make mistakes in their own end. Play solid defense and put the puck on Bishop from any angle until he blinks.

Let's Go Rangers!
Hopefully the Hank stuff is in people's heads
MetsAreBack : 5/29/2015 8:55 am : link
but as Brett likes to say, 'clutch' is overrated. Why would Hank be super focused in a game 7, but not in say a playoff overtime where his track record certainly before this season was mediocre at best (?) Was he not focused in game 3 of this series when he let in a soft one in OT?

We need to score 4 goals tonight - can't rely on Hank every game 7. We need other heroes too.
I'm going to see Brit Floyd tonight in DC..

mixed emotions about missing the game...
I had a dream last night
NewFakeDannyHeep : 5/29/2015 8:57 am : link
That the Rangers won in overtime, like 3 seconds into it. I was really annoyed when I woke up and it hadn't actually happened.

But I'd still rather see them win easy.
Pump up time...

we've got this...if it's still 0-0 midway thru the 2nd, then it's anyone's hockey game

Get. It. Done. Let's Go Rangers!!
Fucking A..

Yeah, nice goal
Wuphat : 5/29/2015 9:12 am : link
But I don't want this thing going anywhere near OT
Lets Go Rangers!!!
MadPlaid : 5/29/2015 9:13 am : link
Clap Clap ClapClapClap!!!

More D. Slow Tampa down and unleash the beast! More Nash, Miller and Brassard. I'd love to see a goal from Glass. Wouldn't that be a kick to the head?

It's time for our best defenders to bring their A game
Torrag : 5/29/2015 9:28 am : link
Hank, Mac, Staal, Girardi all have another level we haven't seen from them in this series. It's time. Our physical play sparked the victory in games 4 and 6. We need to take the body and finish our checks all night long. LGR!
The last game 7 was almost too intense to watch

Can't imagine what tonights gonna be like.
You can quibble about the details
Greg from LI : 5/29/2015 9:38 am : link
But Henrik's record in elimination games is fairly amazing, and it's more than just a few games. I have no doubt he'll be at the top of his game tonight.
So. Fucking. Pumped.

I'd have a heart attack before I ever lived to see another 2OT Matteau moment tonight so let's just steer clear of OT altogether please.

Fucks sake.. is it 8:00 yet?

Stufftherun : 5/29/2015 10:15 am : link
has been up exponentially since last night, it ratcheted up through the morning hours and awoke me at 6am ...it's D Day boys!

As Brassard so aptly put it in the Game 6 post game interview, "we've been working all year for home ice and our fans deserve a Game 7".

Let's all do what we can as fans to be the very best we can for the team we bleed blue for. Get it done, any means necessary!

For those who are going, see you at MSG and Let's Go Rangers!!!
.

congrats
Fish : 5/29/2015 10:26 am : link
Fuckers. I know it's hard to feel comfortable when your team is in the game. From an outsider, I have called it every round. This one is in the bag.

good grief, waiting all day for this one is brutal

Mats Zuccarello skated in a non-contact jersey this morning at #Rangers' optional morning skate. He will not play in #Game7 tonight.
No surprise there
bigbluehoya : 5/29/2015 11:14 am : link
And no disappointment on my side...I would consider it an incredibly stupid decision for them to trot him out in game 7 sight unseen if he had been cleared.

Having said that, I'll be hoping he's good to go for Game 1 of the SCF.
least surprising news of the day
Greg from LI : 5/29/2015 11:14 am : link

I just want to tell the boys good luck. We're all counting on you.
More than Hank
Matt M. : 5/29/2015 11:18 am : link
I think the D has to be stellar. If Hank gets decent D, I have no doubts about his performance. I also think the Rangers have to be aggressive on O and force the action, like they did in Game 1 and Game 6. that includes getting people in front of the net for the plethora of rebounds Bishop has given up.
Im more interested in our fowards
Deej : 5/29/2015 11:28 am : link
still disgusted by the total unwillingness to get to the slot in Game 5. Every rush was up the boards.

The dmen will do what they do. Tampa is just fantastic at passing within the offensive zone. There is only so much our guys can do. Again, the forwards need to be on the ball there, because they are the ones who can really clog things up (since they dont have to guard the net mouth).
Wish they could bottle the first 10 mins of that last third period
Greg from LI : 5/29/2015 11:31 am : link
That kind of aggressiveness is how the forwards have to play.
.
arcarsenal : 5/29/2015 11:40 am : link
It probably means nothing in the end but there is just such a stark difference between Vigneault and Cooper and their approaches.

AV remains even-keeled at all times regardless of circumstance and he always seems to be a calming presence. Never panics, never gets ahead of himself. The focus is always on the task at hand.

With Cooper, you can just tell the guy has never been here before. He just seems very defensive and "yeah, well! We'll show them!"

Tampa is an excellent team, they're dangerous, they're going to be very tough to beat.. but I am very comfortable knowing who is behind our bench and also in our net.
the first 8 minutes
MookGiants : 5/29/2015 11:40 am : link
of the 3rd period in game 6 was probably the best we played all season
I don't know about all season
Greg from LI : 5/29/2015 11:43 am : link
They had some really dominant performances during that Feb-Mar. hot streak, but I do think it was easily their best play of the playoffs.
arc, I don't remember if it was you who made that Harbaugh comp
Greg from LI : 5/29/2015 11:44 am : link
for Cooper, but it seems very apt. There's definitely a lot of Harbaugh to Cooper.
.
arcarsenal : 5/29/2015 11:50 am : link
Yeah, it was. Cooper right now reminds me a lot of Harbaugh going into the NFCC Game against us in January of 2012.

I think he can become a really good coach and maybe he is right now. But you can just tell this is new territory and he's kind of ebbing and flowing with the outcomes of the games whereas with AV, he's just one guy regardless of the outcome.

Like I said, it may mean nothing at the end of the day. I just thought Cooper really let his frustration show after Game 6 and he looked like a kid who didn't get what he wanted. It just didn't look professional at all.
my heart is already racing
Sonic Youth : 5/29/2015 11:52 am : link
please get us back to the finals tonight, guys. please please please please please please please

I know the numbers point to us, but something about the Rangers makes me never confident. Tampa is a fucking awesome team, and they are fully capable of beating us handily - let alone winning a close game.

We need our king to go into god-mode. Cmon Hank, cmon...
