Saw Mr. Harvey on the Daily Show last night. While it was a really short interview, what stood out to me was how in tune he was with what people in the media were writing about him. Stewart asked him about Syndergaard, and he noted that twitter had taken a screen shot of his reaction to his homerun - he was in awe. Stewart went on, in jest, to put a pillow and police blockades around his elbow, but the discussion turned to Joel Sherman's article that the Mets' should abuse Harvey because the assumption is that he will leave the Mets in 3 years. Harvey didn't say anything to quell or dispute that assumption. As a die-hard Met fan, I love Harvey's competitiveness, he has brought life back to the franchise, but I find it really obnoxious how much a "me" guy he is. He doesn't have to be David Wright-loyal, but at least be somewhat like Jose Reyes - excited to be a met, thankful for the opportunity, some degree of appreciation. I wasn't around in the 80s, so i don't know if gooden/strawberry/hernandez/darling/carter were any different. But the last big star we had, Piazza, he embraced being a Met,it just doesn't sit well how much it feels like he just doesn't want to be a part of this organization. Maybe Jeffy is to blame, but the Mets IMO have treated Harvey fine, even Boras think so too.

Someone the other day brought up offering Harvey to the Cubs for Bryant. Not sure either Mets or Cubs would do the trade, but something that at least made me think for a bit.
The guy is fantastic to watch and I hope that maybe if the Mets can at least come close or possibly win championship while he is here he will want to stay a Met. Of course the Mets will have the opportunity to offer him a large deal at some point prior to his becoming a free agent and if they do he will have a bigger decision to make.
But to your larger point as a fan I would prefer players on teams I root for would at least seem like they are 100% "all in" and desired that it could work out to where they could play their entire career with the team. Harvey hasn't come across that way to me, at least in my opinion others may feel differently.
I'll at least enjoy him while he is here.
I hate dwelling on the past, that team should have been a dynasty so many self-inflicted wounds.
but today at least guys are mostly clear about it, they go almost 99.9% of the time to the team who pays them the most. you have an opportunity pre-free agency to avoid it with some guys, and maybe post TJ Harvey is one even with Boras as an agent, but it won't be cheap.
Even more staggering deGrom, Syndergaard, Matz won't be free agents until 2021-2022. We'll be fine if we lose one of our 5 aces. lol.
So just worry about the next 3-4 years. Some other team will probably be paying Harvey for 2 good years on an 8 year contract.
gee, ahhhh? Maybe it's b/c this organization rarely fields a winner and fans want the light at the end of the tunnel to be more than just a flash? They've had a winning percentage of just .479 since the beginning.
Don't you have another journalist to libel?
We all want this team to win long term rather than see a flash or glimpse of success vanish within a few years. Harvey's a Yankee fan and considering this ownership it's pretty normal for the majority to be concerned.
Won and lose what?

We are getting him for the prime of his career for peanuts. If somebody wants to give him a 10 year 300 million dollar deal as he approaches his 30th birthday be my guest. We won. You lose.
Won and lose what?
Who knows what he means? Let's just hope Sandy Fold doesn't pull a Reyes if and when the time comes.
