Being the 13th ranked tight end in catches yards and tds is impressive. He was actualy 25th in total catches tied with Larry Fitzgerald
This is interesting considering how we all were melting down at this time last year because the lions had selected Eric Ebron.
He had a total of 25 receptions.
I am looking forward to seeing more of Larry this year.
if I say it's a little grating that an NFL pro needed the offseason to learn about inside hands and leverage? For chrissake I remember my pee wee coaches screaming that when I was 8 years old. Don't get me wrong, great to see he assessed where he needed to improve and went at it, but inside hands? Really? The single most fundamental skill in blocking? Really just goes to show you what incredibly athletically talented guys are playing in the NFL.
on a football message board... of all places. maybe everything said in here should have a disclaimer: *NFL context.
I guess WRs that aren't smart enough to learn routes are really dumbshits in real life. CBs that make "business decisions" are pussies in real life. 230 lbs running backs who shy away from contact in the NFL are bullied in real life. Andrus Peat is a wimp in real life, because some of you have claimed that he is soft...
build up his arm strength so he would stop fumbling!
It might be how he's securing the catch and his arm position. Coughlin & friends should be able to fix that. Every defender the Giants face this year is likely to test Donnell on that.
is in the viewers mind. It gives dopes a chance to be smart (of course I know more than Gilbride and that stupid "draw" play he lost the game with"; it gives wusses a change to grow muscles, it gives squishes a chance to know what strong is.
There has never been a guy who went to an NFL tryout who wasn't incredibly tough, there's never been a guy cut in the first cut who wasn't a superb athlete.
This kid came from a low level college, played big time last year, he's worked like hell in the offseason, worked like hell just to do what he did last year...but let a jerk who is an clerk aspiring to ordinary get off on him.
RE: I would love to see him stop landing on his head...
i expect donnell to improve but their is a dark horse at TE - adrien robinson. coughlin has not given up on him and was starting to eat into larry's snaps at the end. showed well at the GL
He could b just what the DR ordered. Considering our T situation we need a plus blocker that can catch a few balls when hes wide open a lot more than we need a receiving specialist.
on AR. Until he sees the field consistently never mind does something, this guys is and should remain an after thought. I am more concerned as to whether we are wasting a roster spot on him this year. And with this TE, that is an indictment.
I don't think he's soft and don't understand how anybody could call him soft based on what he did on the field.
I also don't agree about the nonsense that fans can't question a guys toughness. "They're all extremely tough"? My ass on that one.
NFL teams evaluate that stuff. How willing a player is to hit and how a guy likes contact. Some guys love contact and would run through a wall for it. Other don't and will watch others make a play.
We had a pretty good example with that softy Demps we had playing S last year. His lack of toughness has followed him since college and it was clear as day last year. The guy did not want to mix it up.
Demps was soft.
Donnell wasn't and I think he'll be a pretty damn good player next year. He just needs to learn a few things about running with a ball. Getting lower. Using his arms to hit defenders before they get to his legs.

I don't know. How do people attack you?
Lol, shots fired.
then he is making the pro bowl this year

I hope so because he's going to probably be helping flowers a lot especially early on

Eh, why? Just deflate the ball a little bit...
Donnell is a keeper and based on what we have at that position, we are lucky he stepped up last season.

he is almost howard cross-like in his size

When you recall that he hasn't been playing this position very long, it might make more sense to you.

7 years isn't very long?
