He needs to fix his mental inconsistency

Holy crap!

18 more pounds? Hope it doesn't affect his speed....Sehorn wasn't the same player after he "bulked" up.....yes, it was more the knee, but the extra weight didn't help....
Sehorn became LB size, up from

a weight that was fine. DRC moved into lighter-safety weight which MAY be a bit much, but he started off pretty skinny and needed at least some weight.
That seems like a lot.

Hope he doesn't start pulling stuff now.
Whatever he gains
Big Blue '56 : 6/2/2015 10:43 am : link
will sink to the required level once training camp starts for real, imo

Huh? i dont get the "mental lapse" but the tackling is such an overrated thing for a cornerback. Very few cover corners can help in run support especially the smaller ones and specifically DRC since hes built slight. If you want him to play 16 games i suggest you be okay with his tackling ability. He may have added weight but his frame is still on the smaller side. For example, prince is built much better for run support. look at ross, his body was destroyed all because of run support. He wasnt built for it.
Tuckrule, do your homework
JonC : 6/2/2015 10:51 am : link
He frequently makes mental mistakes, gives up on plays, blows off contact, uses the incorrect techniques, etc. He came here with these as known issues, and was called a frontrunner who tended to get down and check out mentally when things didn't go well. This has been reported by the media as well.

ive watched him a ton before he came here and he had a really good year last year. I think you and many here let one singular play last season skew your view of what kind of player he is. He was never known as a tackler and the knock was always his run support.
I've watched him a ton
JonC : 6/2/2015 11:06 am : link
and posted the above before and after NYG signed him. My perspective isn't skewed by one play, that's patently ridiculous.
He can be electrifying one play
JonC : 6/2/2015 11:08 am : link
and look like a Pop Warner kid the next. Hopefully some consistency in his mental game will develop.

he was one of the top cover guys last season as far as yards allowed and receptions against him. He was middle of the pack as far as missed tackles. Also, he played with a terrible injury last season which obv limited him. Im not saying he is great and doesnt need to work on anything. He can improve like anyone can but let him be healthy first and i believe if spags asks him to help more in run support he will not see the field in 16 games. I can live with him "slacking" off in run support to be healthy for 16 games and cover opposing teams 1
Perhaps I'm selectively remembering,
Big Blue '56 : 6/2/2015 11:10 am : link
but the mental gaffes seemed to abate to a large degree with Spags during his first tour here..

Hopefully, THAT part of his magic is still in tact
DRC wasn't here then

Oh,
Randy in CT : 6/2/2015 11:12 am : link
you mean in general--my bad.
Ross's biggest problem was his hamstrings.
Klaatu : 6/2/2015 11:45 am : link
Yes, he had a shoulder injury late in 2007, and a season-ending back injury early in 2013, but the hamstring injury in 2009 and its lingering effects was the real killer. I don't think you can attribute that to his play against the run.
Spags
area junc : 6/2/2015 12:47 pm : link
involved his CBs in run support much more than Fewell
Sehorn never had DRC kind of speed AND he was coming off the knee
Stupendamatic : 6/2/2015 2:05 pm : link
The extra weight shouldn't be an issue. As it is, he will likely lose a few pounds during the season like most players do.
Sehorn was asked to run back kickoffs
BobOnLI : 6/2/2015 2:54 pm : link
because he was so slow?
