Had forgotten that they all picked the Bucs. I can understand the Cowoboys because they were the #1 seed but the Bucs were not very good. You'd think at least one guy would have picked the Giants.

Even though it is funny, it kind of burns me up a bit because it played a part in the narrative that the '07 Giants were a fluke. Compare this to the 10-6 Packers who won in 2010. They barely made the playoffs but were media darlings so when they won no one considered it lucky or even a surprise but years later and another SB people still act like the '07 Giants just "got hot" at the right time. You don't beat teams as good as the '07 Boys, Pack and Pats without being a damned good football team.

I broke two lamps during the Green Bay game.

One each for every Tynes miss.

When we talk about the Giants' greatest games, most people bring up that NFC championship game, or the game in Dallas the week before, but I think more attention should be paid to the Tampa Bay game. We got revenge on Garcia, we "had" Ronde Barber, and Eli got the playoff monkey off his back.

I was so drained and so scared to feel any hope I just sat there and didn't move a fucking muscle, didn't breathe, before tynes belted it 47 yards. But it was weird right before he kicked I remember thinking If the ball trajects a little bit right off the kick its gonna be good... That shit was perfect.

That kick was much tougher then he has been given credit for. That ball had to have felt like he kicked a rock given how cold it was.

I remember at the start of the Bucs game I was getting pissed off and thinking WTF? to myself. Then I just reminded myself to be patient and our Giants would win the game. I settled down and then the Giants did to.

During the Dallas game, I felt like if the Giants could just beat these arrogant cocksuckers, the season would be a HUGE success. I almost forgot about cry baby Owens. "My quarterback...waaaahh."

run the Giants made., I know New England was 18-0 and all that stuff,. but that home loss to New England left me confident that the Giants were good enough to beat them. Eli in the frozen tundra was a scary thought for me. Eli outplayed the Green Bay legend Brett Farve on his home turf. Amazing game by Plax and a truely remarkable kick to win it. Wow what a game.

saying the Giants had won their 3rd NFL Championship (not 3rd Super Bowl)?

Why does the NFL go out of its way to ignore its history prior to the Super Bowls?

It's the Lombardi Trophy not for the two Super Bowl wins in SB I and SB II, it's because of all the NFL championships.

Best thing about watching that Tynes video?

But equally annoying was all the talk about how the Giants were just lucky, how they just seemed the play the best ball at the end !

Duhh, Isn't that the whole idea - Isn't that what separates champions, to able to get a little more out of the gas peddle than everyone else at the END.

The Giants beat two great Patriots teams (better than the team that just beat Seattle). No "luck", just better, when it counted.
Jeez...

Truly one of my favorite games cause Jerry Jones really looked stunned that they lost @ home to the NYG's - especially since Dallas pretty much had the first 3 quarters in their favor.

2007 was amazing. The Giants DL dominated the day against the world's greatest offense up until that day. Now, remember Plaxico was hurt before the game and was a "decoy" - catching only the game winning TD. We weren't lucky but rather we were poised, well coached and just made the plays we needed to that day.

The Tampa Bay game and four years later the ATL game were in the bag as far as I was concerned. There was never ANY doubt in mind going into those. Now the rest of 07' run I was just happy to be watching my team, no expectations. The 11' run I was sure the Packers would drop us, after that win though I KNEW we would play and defeat the PATs in the superbowl.

Those SBs were so great, the 07' was the start of the best times of my life. And the 11' was a nice break in one of the worst times in my life. They really mean a lot to me.
I remember in 07

Feeling like it was just a good step that Eli won a playoff game, but it was NE's year. Then it was gravy that we beat Dallas. And beating GB was crazy, and fantastic, but I had little logical hope we'd beat 17-0 NE. What a run!

Eric and Trainmaster: The lack of respect for the pre SB (and from many pre 1980) really bugs me too.

Yep. The f'ing PAckers only got in because of the f'ing loss to the Eagles in the Desean Jackson game.

are partially to blame too. In all their video promotions, they only show SB trophies. Big banners around Quest seem to be only SB wins.

One funny thing was, the Tampa Bay and Green Bay games weren't as close as the final scores. The Giants kicked some ass in those POs. As far as the prognosticators go, no one believed yet that Eli was a good QB. Many still didn't believe it until 2011...
can someone post the thread to the bbi thread for this game?

i felt a quiet confidence in the 2007 Giants
xtian : 6/8/2015 7:50 pm : link
Tampa Bay: i was pretty positive we would be beat them. even though we were the #5 seed and first wild card, we had a better record in a much tougher division: 3/4 teams made the playoffs with only the eagles at 8-8 not making it. i cannot believe not one of those guys would connect those dots.

Cowboys: had beaten us twice and were very good. i can easily understand them picking the cowboys, especially jimmy johnson. i knew we had a chance, a decent chance, but we would have to play a mistake free game.

Packers: after beating the Cowboys, i felt it was reasonable to think we could win the Packer game because the weather was historic cold and we had better run game [4th compared to 21st] and better defense [7th to 11th yards wise but remember we got off to a slow start]. our specials were a little bit better than theirs. also, even though the Pack had the better passing game, as we all know, Favre was prone to errors. plus we had just beat the Cowboys who i thought were better than the Packers.

Patriots: no one in their right mind would bet on the Giants to win, except there was this nagging knowing that the Pats barely beat up at the end of the season when we had nothing to play for and had actually blown the game by allowing 1 bomb for a TD, an interception that lead to a TD, a big KO return by hixon called back with a penalty, etc. we would have to play an almost perfect game. and we did!!!!
