Simple: played a down for TC as a Giant you are eligible, you didn't you're not.
I. Eli manning
2. Ahmad Bradshaw
3. Victor Cruz
4. Michael Strahan
5. The 2007 OL
He might be my favorite modern era Giants RB ever. I liked to joke that he ran like a garbage truck with no brakes. Remember him throwing the ball into the Cowboys gameclock after scoring a TD and breaking a bulb? Man, that was awesome!
The reason why I posted thread was because how much I loved AB
The dude was all heart, played through so many injuries, never quit on his play (to a fault-many of his fumbles were after so much extra effort). I am
Last had him ahead of ELI, but I admire Eli so much for the way that he handles himself with the ridiculous microscope he played under (which breeds terribly unfair criticism).
Tuck and Jacobs, I liked a lot, but there were some issues I had. Sometimes, I felt like Jacobs didn't play in control and Tuck got frustrated at points of his Giant career. No issue with him leaving, he did all he could do here and he got a payday, take it.
so with the exception of Michael Strahan, who inarguably sits atop my list, in no particular order...
Rich Seubert
David Diehl
Bandon Jacobs
Ahmad Bradshaw
Justin Tuck
Hakeem Nicks
Victor Cruz
Honorable mention to Michael Jennings, who in addition to working his tail off to improve in NFL Europe and finally making the 53 man roster was an endless source of entertainment .
Bradshaw
Tuck
Eli
Brandon Jacobs w/o a doubt
Snee
MacKenzie
Diehl
O'Hara
Pierce
Rolle
Webster
Cruz
Tynes (Kickers are people too!)
DeOssie - Snappers matter
These all represent cornerstone Giants.
Now, upcoming cornerstones after this season, I hope we add in terms of long term Giant greats:
Beckham (Odell) :-) - knock on wood
Richburg
JPP
Williams (I feel like he will be Jacobs light - that said I believe Vereen has a monster year - Go Bears.)
Benson
Prince
-and-
wait for it
Landon Collins - Prediction - HOF Safety and ring of honor for NYG. I just have a feeling he's going to be one of those guys that is everywhere and also one where everyone is saying, "how/ why didn't we get him?"
...but until the premature retirement announcement in 2006 and the idiocy that followed, he might have been not only the best player on the team, but also one of the most popular. By contrast, the love for Michael Strahan bloomed rather late - after his Page 6 divorce and me-first antics had faded from memory.
Anyway, another +1 for Rich Seubert, Justin Tuck and Eli Manning, who are much more "Coughlin-Era" than Barber or Strahan.
If I could cast a -1 for Shockey, I would. He had one excellent year under Fassel, and even that one was spoiled by an epic drop. By the time Coughlin arrived, Shockey was already in decline. The billion-dollar talent eroded quickly. The ten-cent head remained intact.
for the Giants was Jacobs. His physicality early in games (and the OL that paved the way) let the opposition know they were in for a long day, best example being the GB NFC title game in 2007 when he ran over Woodson.
Eli - I don't care if you think he's great or not so great he's the consummate professional. I'm proud to have Eli Manning on my favorite team and I'll bet Coughlin wishes he had 52 other Eli's on his team.
Tuck - was my choice for MVP of SB42.
Tiki - until he imploded he was the Giants offense. As a player he was headed to the Hall of Fame. As a person...not so much.
Strahan - He seemed to get better with age. Early in his career I thought he came up small in big games, but he was consistently a force in his later years.
Diehl - Another one of those guys that every coach wishes he had more of. He played everywhere was damned good at it.
Cruz - The underdog made good. It's good to root for the underdog.
Guy. Unstaffed free agent. Made the team after having, I think, a 15 tackle or so game against Baltimore in the preseason. Just a tough dude and hard nosed player

1. Right on about Tiki and Strahan.
2. Sadly, right on about Shockey. A friend lived in his same condo in South Beach. Dude just didn't take care of himself.
I second that. Looking at our TE situation, I still miss Shockey. I liked what his skill set and energy he brought. It sucked that he bitched his way off the Giants.
RE: Not to turn this thread into a referendum on Tiki Barber...

I agree about Tiki. Easily one of my favorite players while he was playing. Afterwards, not so much. Who knew he was such a dumbass?
Other favorites: Amani Toomer, Michael Strahan, and Corey Webster
I second that. Looking at our TE situation, I still miss Shockey. I liked what his skill set and energy he brought. It sucked that he bitched his way off the Giants.
I hated Shockey because he wasted his talent. He was more worried about being an asshole instead of winning games (See SF playoff game)

By the time Boss replaced Shockey, Boss represented an immediate upgrade in team play. Gillbride was laughing about it, concerning JS's lack of knowledge or concern about the playbook. I liked Boss a ton more than JS.

Honorable mention - Toomer, Steve Smith, Boss, OBJ, JPP, Kiwi, Webster, and Rolle.
Diehl would be up there were it not for the DUI.
Of course, that's not to say I don't love a whole ton of the rest of them too, but they can't all be favorites now, can they?

Jacobs was my favorite - still is.
I loved how late in the game as we were running out the clock, some of our opponents just didn't want to try to tackle him anymore. :-)
And I loved Belichick's quote to TC after a pre-season game in the big man's first year. "Where the hell did you get that guy?"!

Shockey and Plax were up there before their disasterous 2008's.
And whom will always be overlooked as an all-time Giant.

Toughest guy on the team, and on a team with Eli that is really saying something huge.
I also gotta give some love to Hixon. He's was one of my favorites too.

Agree Blue Lou.
