1) His weapons
a) Cruz is going to be the comeback player of the year this year. Having him in the slot and not being the focal point of the offense anymore is going to be the best thing for him and Eli.
b) Randle is a great third option. Manning seems to have a lot more trust in him last year especially after that terrible 2013 season.
c) I believe we will have good receiving TEs. Donnell is a good receiver and i believe Cunningham will make a lot of noise this year.
d) Dwayne Harris and Cory Washington will be more effective situation players. We don't have to rely on them much and that may be a good thing for everyone. Harris is a good blocker/ x factor receiver and Washington could be a red zone threat.
e) Jennings and vereen are good receiving backs. Eli doesn't have to force a lot of passes this year. he has PLENTY of guys who can get the YAC. Also, they are both great in pass protection.
f) Odell...yea
2)Have you seen the corners behind prince and DRC?
They can't afford to get hurt. But since prince has never been healthy, i am going to assume he will miss games and cause the giants to have to play in a shootout a few games.
3) aside from the jets and bills, they don't really face many top defensive teams. San fran could have been but they all retired.
4) The O line is the biggest x factor, however, in this offense, it is more 3 step drop back not 7 like gilbride. In 2014 the ball come out a lot faster. The only issue is if the O line is not able to run block. If we can run the ball more effective, that would make the offense more unpredictable and open up PA. But i don't expect that because i am not convinced this will be a better OL than last year. This will cause eli to have even more inflated stats just like 2011.
My prediction for his stats this year.
4850 yrds, 39 TDs, 13 Ints, 66 comp %.
Just some reasons why I think Eli will have his best season. Let me know what i missed.
4850 yrds, 39 TDs, 13 Ints, 66 comp %.
God that'd be awesome.

Eh, 5,000/40 sounds better.
'IF' those two huge question marks come up aces this offense could be special imo.
If.
I'd absolutely LOVE for this to be the case, but given the injury and the position he plays, it's nearly impossible. I don't expect V.C. to be 100% for a single game this season. It would be near a miracle if he's back to 100% for opening day 2016.
Brett yeah, but also tied to the other positions. I think he was handcuffed by the OL early to mid season. So he had to be more conserative in his playcalling. I actually liked that. He protected Eli during the course of the game by calling conservative plays when the D/D dictated it.
If our OL can't run block and puts us in long D/D then I expected him to be conservative again.
I think he did a very good job overall, though. I'm sure transitioning to the play calling role is hard enough - but it was only exacerbated by the shitty OL.

I don't remember that game. What did he do?
I don't think he could have had balance. Not when you run the ball and you get 2-3 yard losses setting you up for 2nd or 3rd and long. As I coach it fucks up your play calling for the series.
The Eagles game I thought was god awful. He tried going more 5 and 7 step drop because of the 1 on 1 match ups and It was a shit show that game. The next game then he went back to what originally was working. I thought that game was the worse game. That Eagles game was god awful.
I agree with the run blocking aspect of the OL. That's the big question mark. Pass blocking I am not concerned with as much. I actually don't have confidence in our weapons. Cruz is a question mark. RR is inconsistent, and our Tes need to be more consistent too. To me it's the OBJ show, and then hoping anyone else can contribute and be consistent.
Yeah, I actually liked that aspect. That's what I mean about protecting Eli and trying to stay balanced. He wasn't going to put Eli in a bad situation due to down and distance. So 3rd and 9, we ran the ball. Look at the game threads and see everyone flipping out because the run game at that point was not working, yet 3rd and 9, it was a failed run again. Why? Because we weren't going to put Eli in a situation where he might get picked off.
I actually loved that about Ben M. A OC who finally protected Eli. Not like fucking Gilbride, who in the seattle game, where Eli threw 5 Tds, had Eli throw a hail mary before the half, when he had already 3 Ints. I despised that play call so much. Your QB is struggling against a great defense. He already has 3 ints, and now you want him to throw the ball up, a jump ball? What the fuck? Ben M. protected Eli. That's the big take away I got from Ben M. year 1. He wasn't going to put Eli in a bad situation due to a shitty OL.
I think the addition of Vereen will be helpful in alleviating some of these issues.
Donnell exceeded expectations for a guy no one knew and never started a game before the season. I believe he will be even better this year.
We have great receiving backs now. Vereen can also play slot in some formations.
Eli has a lot of weapons. Randle can be inconsistent, but he is the 3rd WR. He is not getting the best defender on him. he should be able to win most of his battles as he shouldn't see any doubles. I also believe the giants will bring in a Mathis, Long or Blalock. I am not sure they will roll with the current OL.
It seems a lot of guys are immune to that, like Big Ben. Eli has a really good season in 2014 but it's all Odell. Ben has a really good season in 2014 and the mentions of All Pro's Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell are rare compared to Beckham's.
Another SBMVP
That's all the stats you need to define "his best year".

Production like that would guarantee Eli's entrance as a first ballot hall of Famer...Who would end next season with the following career #
44,605 Career Passing Yards...only 6 yards short of Drew Bledsoe' 44,611 who is 10th All time on the career passing list....and 39 TD passes would give Eli a total of 298 career TD passes good for 8th all time....and only 2 TD passes behind the Great John Elway...who ended his career #7 with 300 TD passes...
Gentlemen we are experiencing greatness...and am praying that we continue to see this continue for God willing the 5-7 years he might have left...its like when LT was here...we have to enjoy watching Eli play because we will never get this kind of QB play for a long time...might take another 30-50 years
Hope the nursing home has a big screen!
The whole thing is unpredictable. Players will surprise, as Cruz did when he first broke out. Others' performance will fall of a cliff, as some of the Giants' O-linemen did a couple of years ago. Someone will get hurt. Someone we all wrote off will break out. That's part of why it's fun to watch. You can only predict so much.
