NFT: OPM/ Credit monitoring

Walt in MD : 6/19/2015 1:30 pm
I finally got my notice today. I'm on hold with CSID now. The estimated wait time is 90 minutes. I've seen people in my office get written up for PII violations. What happens to you when you have 4.4 million PII violations? On one hand though, it's good the hackers chose OPM. They have so many non-digitized paper records, they have to store them under a mountain in western PA. The only way to hack those is the old fashioned way. Flood or fire.
Yeah it's rediculous

I'm off today so I haven't checked my email. I think my credit monitoring is still active from the last spill...

expecting my notice soon. I'm not sure about signing up as after reading their site, it sounds as if they are going to be conducting searches for my information. Not sure how good of an idea it is for them to be using my SSN as a search term for example. Its just another site for my information to be stolen from. If there is a bright side, my information is probably safer with the Chinese than most other places, but I do worry that they will use it to target people in distress and comprise additional information.
I got mine today..

After you successfully register, make sure you go to the "Identity Protection" tab and select "Cyber Agent." that will allow you to enter the specific accounts to be protected (bank, passport, SSN, drivers license, etc).

The instructions aren't intuitive (shocker), so we'll have to figure-out some of the features.

Guys I was told by someone who should know that the hack only hit the Executive Branch, do you know if that is true?

I work for the Feds but not in the Executive Branch and as of today have not received nothing. Just trying to see if the hack expanded beyond the Executive Branch.

Thanks
a second notice came out

Stating that the hack was much more than originally thought and also compromised the background investigation data of US gov't employees past and present... and the Chinese and one other country have the records. This is bad. Really bad.
