So I work at a hospital and management wants all employees to register their car and put a sticker on their car that identifies that you are an employee. The problem that I have is that it is in a bad neighborhood and cars get broken into and stolen all the time. Management claim that they sre not responsible. So my question is if management will not be responsible for my car I don't want to put a sticker on my car which says to the car thieves hey my car will be here all day, and easier to steal .The security guys make Barney Fife look like James Bond. Do I have any legal right to say unless you want to be responsible for my car I refuse to put the sticker on my car.

And since there is just as likely a chance of anyone walking up opon them in a parking lot if breaking into any car I doubt the sticker makes that much of a difference. It is not the same as a pile of old newspapers in front of a house might be to a thief.
It just makes no sense to me to have to register your car and have a sticker. They obviously want their lot/garage only to be used by employees, so if they register before towing a car they should be able to check the registration.

Steve, we park along with patients. If you know that nobody will most likely come to the car because they are working instead of a patient that can be approaching the car at any moment, it make a difference. They have video surveillance that is useless.

But that is my very point. Since it is a general parking lot the owners of any of the other cars parked close to you could just as easily come along and see someone breaking into a car. I really don't think in an open general parking lot a criminal would care as much about stickers as he would where in the parking lot the car was parked, in other words one parked way off in a corner may be an easier target than one parked in the middle of all the action. Or past that the type of car and what things may be visable inside it.
I read once that a car strewn with trash like old food wrappers and bags are much less likely to ever get broken into. Just get a little messy (grin)
I can imagine. Thieves are awful, and getting robbed is horrible.
I know another person who gave up and bought a beater with a cracked windshield. He only had to drive it a few short miles to a lot before taking his train into the city.
Its a shame we have to think this way, but there are people who are scumbags and only enjoy life when they can take or ruin others property.
