for that gaffe on the TDA throw to 2nd. This way no one gets upset on BBI for fingering one of the middle infielders.
Well, naturally
Flores isn't there so why actually blame a different player for a gaffe?
I give them credit: their plays are so bad they don't get errors called on them. Flores just holding the ball yesterday, the line drive the other day, no one bothering to cover third last night or second tonight....nothing in the boxscore.
the past few games but man does this feel like the now traditional early mid season swoon. Don't need to make the playoffs, but fuck give me a full season. And yes I realize they're in first place.

Oh man, you just sent up a bat signal to the village idiot. There goes the thread.
The stats may or may not bear it out by the end of the 2015 campaign but this team is just awful in the field. Wait, someone quickly recite some advanced stats to make us all feel better!

You are not wrong. But the offense is by far the bigger problem. Can't win if you can't score, no matter how good your pitching is.
Cincinnati has the best defense in the league and they are 31-35. Defense is important but not nearly as important as the offense. That's why it boggles my mind that every thread is consumed with bitching about the defense, rather than the minor league level offense.

I'm not looking for a debate and since it can't be qualified the issues in the field, whether physical or mental, are and will take it's toll on the pitching staff. Innings are extended when they shouldn't be and nothing is more deflating to the pitching staff then to know your defense will fail you in some capacity night in and night out.

Hard to argue with that. However, I will say that I've see three errors the past few games where a player just flat out took their eyes off the ball. I'd say those are mental. And, no matter what some here may say, it's well documented that players have gotten the yips with their throws at times. I'd say those are mental also. But it is hard to distinguish between those. And even though they are mental, it's still not excusable. All that said, I agree with you.

I don't blame Collins for the lack of offensive talent but he doesn't mansge the game well
There are few hit and runs. There are few bunts to advance runners. There are few stolen bases. Collins doesn't know how to manufacture runs

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Braves and Diamondbacks have agreed on a trade which is sending Bronson Arroyo and pitching prospect Touki Toussaint to Atlanta and infielder Phil Gosselin to Arizona.
Arroyo, currently sidelined after undergoing Tommy John surgery last July, is owed $9.5 million for the 2015 season plus a $4.5 million buyout for ’16. Arroyo may be available to join the Braves’ rotation in August, but Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic notes that his recovery from surgery has been slow and has been trying to overcome elbow discomfort in recent weeks.
Toussaint, 19, was considered the fifth-best prospect in the Diamondbacks’ organization and was one of baseball’s top-100 going into the 2015 season. In 39 innings at Single-A Kane County, Toussaint posted a 3.69 ERA and a 29/15 K/BB ratio. He was the club’s first-round selection, 16th overall, in the 2014 draft.
The Diamondbacks appear to be concerned with clearing Arroyo’s $14 million remaining salary, but they signed a TV deal believed to be worth more than $1 billion back in February. That they gave up one of their best prospects to save $14 million seems rather curious.
I doubt they can go a single game without making a mental error, they all too frequently look completely lost as to the fundy's. A physical error, well, that appears to be a real challenge as well.
I'm one of the biggest proponents for getting a real Big league SS. I was also one of the proponents for Not trading away our young pitching for one... I would rather WF learn on the job... The problem is with Wright and Murphy out the mental and physical errors are glaring and not just at SS. I love Campbell off the bench as a spot starter In@Of but as an everyday 3b No way... So we basically have an all rookie infield.. Shits going to happen.. We need a professional consistent hitter... Also Lagares needs to be shutdown for a while.... His elbow needs the rest...
-Bases loaded with infield in and 3rd baseman doesn't throw home
-Catcher throws to 2nd and nobody is there
-3rd baseman doesn't lock on a bunt with a runner advancing from 2nd and pitcher fielding the ball
-1st baseman is late to the mound on ball from CF for play at the plate
Sure, blame the Manger. I think Flores tries harder AB with RISP despite the numbers being almost identical (RISP or Not).
Written by a member of the saber religion whom isn't competent enough recognize what doesn't calculate in the metrics. Without a metric of explanation to include the mishaps not calculated this type of fan usually defaults to labeling others "haters"
but Keith, look at these metrics and why is Darling agreeing with you along with ALMOST everybody else? The Mets booth must be haters too.
Haha, I've seen darling commend Flores on getting to an impossible ball and then killing him after the commercial break for not getting the DP...ON THE SAME DAMN PLAY. Excuse me if I don't take their ever changing opinions as Gospel. Dismissing stats and saber metrics is just ignorant.
And the continuation of mental and fundamental mistakes is absolutely a reflection on the coaching staff.
Fantastic trade by the Braves. The type of move you wish Fred would sign off on being a big market franchise
(Not blaming Sandy here)
That's an understatement... Bought a huge upside pitcher for about $7mm. The cost of a CY for a year. Why not get in the conversation and offer a Dillon Gee and pay his salary plus a Bowman? Or Niese and pay his salary?
2-0

Agreed ...it just permeates througout the whole roster and it's embarrassing.

Show me the one person who has ever said that here. I'll wait.

Can't lie, the chant would be better if we were winning. But it's funnier because the Braves are actually winning, lol.

He's actually a very good color commentator but he's in over his head carrying the play by play.
Well the guy was running full speed right into his arm there. Lucky its not broken. Kinda like the Cliff Floyd play at first base
Ty - Keith
he should really move down to 6th and let TDA bat 5th.

Lol. So the two kids I was hoping Mets would draft last year have both already been traded.
