...and isn't passed by Roethlisberger or Rivers, Eli will move into the top 10 of all time this season. At 259, he needs just 17 TDs to pass Montana (261), Krieg (273) and Testaverde (275). In 2016, he's likely to pass Unitas (290), Moon (291) and Elway (300). He eventually has a shot at Takenton (342) for the sixth spot. That's as high as he's going to get. Peyton, Favre, Marino, Brees and Brady are out of reach.
Obviously, TD passes come a lot easier than they did in Unitas's day. And as much as I love Eli, stats will never tell his story very well. Consider this: Aaron Rodgers has thrown 33 fewer TD passes than Eli, and 128 fewer interceptions. As for the video, I imagine a reel of Gus Frerotte's 100 best TDs would look pretty similar.
Reminded me how good shockey really was. He could take receptions into the end zone. There are a few but not many TEs can do that. He was a bit polarizing from a nyg fan pov but from 02-07 he was a damn good player. It gets forgotten which is kinda sad. Tiki too. Both players had such good runs here but missed out on the title runs. Weird careers for both..
makes me wonder what might have been had Shockey and Nicks stayed healthy. Actually if Shockey had stayed healthy and not become an asshole.
Lots of "What if?"... but yeah, both Shockey and Nicks are the two big ones. Shame injuries and attitude basically tailed them out. People pile on Shockey for being an asshole, but in his final year, Nicks was not getting much fan support due to giving up on routes, and apparently late to some meetings.
Steve Smith is another one. Might not be as electric as Cruz is in the slot, but dude was a precision route runner.

Wasn't that also a Jersey Joe thing? Or am I thinking of Thomas?
