Including good article on Will Tye, Matt LaCosse, and Jerome Cunningham.

I think Raanan is jumping to conclusions about Adrien Robinson.

It's pretty much known what Daniel Fells and Adrien Robinson are at this point of their careers. Their top skills appear to be their blocking. Fells is a serviceable pass-catching option and Robinson has five career receptions in three professional seasons since being a fourth-round pick in 2012.
I wouldn't lump Robinson in with Fells as a completely known quantity. If the Giants didn't see any upside in Robinson, I doubt they'd be wasting reps on him.

what was interesting was Gilbride's comments on LaCosse...pretty high praise there.
LaCosse's road to the Giants resembles Jake Ballard's.

Their college stats are nearly identical too. Overall, Ballard played a bigger role on a much better team, and still needed a year of practice squad seasoning. LaCosse is lighter and faster. He might be able to contribute sooner in the passing game, but I'll be surprised if he brings much as an in-line blocker in year one.

A lot hinges on Donnell's health. If the Achilles' continues to hinder him, the position will be wide open.

LaCosse came with the reputation as being more blocker than receiver, but physically, he doesn't look like he has an NFL blocking base to me. On the other hand, the reports are that he looks sharp as a receiver.

I must have missed the praise for LaCosse's blocking.

His nfl.com profile sure doesn't make him sound like the next Dan Campbell:
Quote:
STRENGTHS
Smooth release from the line and gets into routes quickly. Good play speed inside his routes with ability to get on top of safeties quickly when he's asked to threaten on third level. Sinks hips into breaks and accelerates into cuts. Can go low and make the tough catch with soft mitts. Used in-line and from wing spot, but was lined up outside in his last regular season game. Willing to fight and sustain when asked to square up as in-line blocker. Block technique needs work, but he has ability to get better.

WEAKNESSES
Tall, angular frame with more meat needed through his lower body. Unable to generate push as a drive blocker and gets rocked from his spot by bull rushers when asked to single-up on them. Tested out at 20 reps, but needs more core strength. Sluggish to release into routes against jams and can be knocked well off course. Played in less than 50 percent of the snaps over last two seasons and had just 38 catches for his career. Needs more fluidity in routes and also needs to stop giving them away with early lean.

DRAFT PROJECTION Round 7 or priority free agent

NFL COMPARISON Arthur Lynch

BOTTOM LINE With a long frame and good speed, LaCosse has the tools to work with for teams looking for a tight end who can stretch the field or stress linebackers in one-on-one matchups. His lack of college production will limit the number of team radars he hits, but he has enough talent to warrant a legitimate look and his ability to play special teams should help his chances.
LaCosse is tall and white (like Lynch). That doesn't mean he's a good blocker.

You hope someone like Cunningham, Hill, or Lacosse make a big jump in pre-season and training camp.

Robinson has been doing well in camps for a while now. But he doesn't show on gamedays. Until he does, I think it's quite appropriate if writers or fans aren't so sure of him. Fells is decent, although not admirably your logical #2 TE. Still works hard.

The TE battle will be fun this summer due to the new bodies.
Not Hill

Whoops. Meant Tye.

Robinson has been kept around for a reason: raw talent being developed. I think this will be his year to show up and produce.
