But what I really can't wait for are some posts about how the isles are building something special! And the players know it! And they want to be here! And the balance of power in NY hockey has shifted!
Don't worry, we're only about 3 1/2 months away from the annual 12th Man proclamation about the changing of the guard that will be wrong for like the 10th year in a row.

I think they should upgrade. Thinking a press conference where Rex Ryan and Prokhorov declare that the Islanders own NY.
like the Zacha pick and Palmieri pick up. That trade basically becomes Jagr for Palmieri. He should be a top 6 fwd for us.
Sadly top 6 forward is not a particularly high burden with us. But I like the Palmieri pick-up. Presumably Zacha stays in juniors this year unless he absolutely blows them away in camp.

Well, they are coming to Brooklyn after all. Perhaps a billboard is in order?

Love you cocksuckers stroking each other all week long over Talbot, glass and any other shit you could muster up. And nothing goes your way and total silence.
Do you even contribute on, you know, GIANTS threads? I didn't really understand the whole "suck it, Fish" sentiment before, but I do now. Anyway, I'm sorry. I'm sure whatever issues have led to a personality that would prefer to taunt than contribute could not have been good. It's ok Fish. Things get better. Not for the Islanders, per se, but otherwise, yes.
Boston f'ed up big time, 3 straight picks and no Barzal or Connor? Jesus, it's a pretty big consensus among most hardcore hockey fans that boston lost this draft big time, despite the 3 straight picks in the mid 1st.
Isles - Jesus great day 1 of the draft, I can't think of any possibility of how they did any wrong.
Devils - Zacha is a great pick, his first year stats in the CHL isnt' great but he was injured/suspended a couple times, as well as going to the WJC. Kid has size, speed and a great shot and while next year he won't be in NJ(passed maybe the first 5-9 games) kid should be a gamer, is also super happy to be drafted by the Devils. In an AWWW momenet kid has a picture of him and elias with the stanley cup from 03 and he wants elias to sign it now.
Hurricanes - Lucked out with Hanifin dropping to #5, kid is going to be amazing, a do it all at a high level defenseman.
Overall have to say Buffalo and Isles are the winners of day 1. The overhaul by Buffalo is great, Eichel, ROR and Lehner that might be one quick turnaround. Isles getting Barzal that late is a solid pickup, kid is small but he's a Gomez type playmaker with slightly better scoring touch when he focuses less on making his teammates better. The first round has a chance to compete with '03 for a tremendous first round (granted it'll be hard as hell to compete with the skill that came out of that draft)

You know last I checked Arc 0 for your last two at the cup. I have big shoulders, I admitted when I was wrong but you know what the Islanders have won the same amount of cups as the Rangers in the last 20 years. I still believe hockey in the tri state is going to be very enjoyable the next 5 yrs. hopefully there will be a few Islander Ranger playoff series during that time. I will look forward to watching BBI implode when it happens.
Oh and just when you think about going into next year all I will say is TANNER GLASS!!!! Looking forward to next year.
I actually bring nothing to hockey threads but grit.
And have had many Giants discussions over our Giants. But don't you worry about our hockey wars here. We have it under control. Thanks.
After the worst off season a GM could have(until Boston this year) Snow has followed it up with two great drafts and I'm excited to see what he's do next. I think the whole Talbot for a 1st was wishful thinking but a 2nd or a player(jumbo Joe) would be a great haul for a backup goalie. If that's what Eddie Lack returned you'd think Talbot would get more of a return. It's so rare to see the Devils pick this high and considering they only had 1 RW signed the Palmieri trade makes sense.

OFFICIAL: #NYR have acquired the 41st pick and Etem from ANA for the rights to Hagelin, 59th pick and the 179th pick. NYR on the clock
Brett, your GM had your hands tied with the moves he's made in the recent past. At least he's provided the ability to get some potential talent back into your depleted pipeline. Doesn't help in the win-now category - the horses you have better produce - but it helps given what Slats had mortgaged in chasing the shiny.
I thought they could have gotten more for Hagelin or signed him to a shorter term deal and dumped him next off-season. He has a lot of value. Maybe Etem is better than I'm giving credit for, though.
I think Snow has done a great job the past year, OTOH.
Yeah it is pretty amazing to see Snow's turnaround. Not long ago he was considered a joke now he has had a great year and has added some good talent to an already talented team.
He was a mediocre NHL goalie with no pedigree of success as a player, and also being part of the NYI organization that was shaky at best in the initial Wang years, so it was easy to ridicule him.
Contrast that with golden boy Stevie Y who brought championship and leadership qualities as a player to the TB front office, whose competency as a GM wasn't scrutinized, yet inherited a roster already stocked with Stamkos and Hedman, Snow has not only done well in that comparison, but overall in general.
You know I'm biased, but I agree with you that Snow has done a good job...not just drafting, but making trades as well.
I think Snow was absolutely brutal his first few years.
But Leddy, Boychuk, etc. were all good moves. And even though I don't follow prospects closely, the risk/reward with Ho-Sang last year was the type of move I like a lot.
I think Yzerman has done really well in Tampa (MSL trade, Stralman signing), but I think you're right. Snow did a lot more to improve his team last year than Yzerman did, imo,
Garth Snow has done a good job the last couple seasons
fishing trip since Friday 4am, just got back and get caught up.
WTF were the Bruins doing?
I get the Lucic trade, he's just not a first line player. And his toughness value is just not enough to outweigh the lack of skill.
but Hamilton, was a budding superstar. Great two-way defenseman with sneaky offensive ability. Not going to be surprised to see him win a Norris trophy in the next few years.
And Sweeney can simply blame it on the "mess" Chiarelli left but I'm glad they did this and I don't think it had to happen this way.
was a real strange move. Trading Rask now might be wise as they have a very talented goalie Subban in the minors who could he their franchise goaltender.
Very recently it looked like the Bruins would compete for years

Only if they allow the players on that billboard to go all steampunk. I hear the hipsters go for that big time.
LOL.. I still don't know what the hell "steampunk" even is. Probably better off.
Oh, if only that were true.

Some people have such thin skin. This is hockey.
Thanks yat solid return for the Devils for moving down 6 spots.

SJ sends Niemi to DAL for pick 193. Since Niemi is a UFA, no guarantee he signs there although DAL is reportedly already working on a contract.
Khudobin from CAR to ANA for D Wisniewski. ANA unloads salary. Interesting to see what happens with Andersen and Gibson.
Rangers send Cam Talbot and pick 209 to Edmonton for 57, 79 and 184
Should have taken the 2 2nds...hindsight is a bitch.
OFFICIAL: #NYR have acquired the 62nd and 113th picks from Washington in exchange for the 57th pick
The team is worse today than it was Thursday.
