My wife and I have been trying to figure out what to do this Independence Day weekend now that we have an addition tike to think about in our planning.
If the weather permits, we're planning on going to my alma mater for fireworks (it does an incredible show every year), but because driving onto the campus is restricted for most people, we'll most likely go early in the evening, park about a mile away, and slowly make our way to the field where we'll let the kiddos play in the grass and make a picnic out of the evening.
Anyone doing anything similar or something crazy?
Are you cooking BBQ for all of them? I've never grilled/cooked for more than a dozen people, and it wasn't easy. I can just imagine the work you'll be putting in, but knowing your history with BBQ, I'm sure everyone will have a great time.

He's bringing in rotisserie chicken from Costco :)
Foo Fighters
Buddy Guy
Gary Clark Jr.
Heart
Joan Jett
LL Cool J
Trombone Shorty
Special guests and jams have been promised. Rumors so far are Jimmy Page. Springsteen and James Taylor are lined up to play as guests.
Yeah it won't suck.
That sounds great. If I were to host that many people, it would be cater knowing how lazy and novice I am at grilling...ha!
Make sure to bring a case of Earl Grey tea to throw at their faces.
I assume there will be plenty of beer, bbq's and fireworks.
Thanks, guys.
I'm there!
You are a brave, brave, brave, brave, brave soul. Please check back in on Monday so we know you survived.

And this is a prime time to be surrounded by fat sweaty people riding those scooters around Disney. I bet Brett wants to visit Disney now.

Wow......I would never go on a major holiday. I hope it works out for you and the kids!
Coworker is going there the same time as you
If the weather permits I might just spend it at the beach. If not I can always binge watch something.
Like a bat signal to Brett!

As if there will be that much walking/standing room.
We have been warned about how crowded it will be. I will be sure not to wear flip flops so my toes don't get crushed.

I'd make good use of the pool(s) ;). The first time I ever went was in July and swore I'd never return. Of course I did, but we now go at a slower time of year.
We did the whole fireworks in our cul-de-sac deal last year after spending the morning at our city's parade and the afternoon at our community pool (which was mostly empty, thankfully). I'm all about letting my four year old run around with sparklers, but my wife isn't having it. Even when I suggested we use the whole Solo cup trick to protect her hand, I got vetoed.
You're going to love it. I plan to move there in the next couple years. It's where I want to be. I'd be surprised if you don't like it.
We just did Sesame Place at the beginning of June. If you haven't signed up for it, I highly recommend the meals with Elmo deal. While it's expensive for mediocre food (at best), the fact that your kid(s) will get more time with the characters will totally be worth it. With that being said, since school is out and this being a holiday weekend, I'm assuming that the place will be packed, which may make the meal deal not as fun.
When we went, I think the park was maybe at 30% capacity. Not only did my daughter get to spend a ton of time with the characters, but we also got to ride many of the ride multiple times (even the water park rides) with almost no wait. Speaking of the water park, many people I saw wore their swim suits to the park so that they could jump back and forth between the water park and the ride park. We were staying at the Sheraton a few minutes away, so we just did the ride park in the morning and the water park during the afternoon after grabbing lunch back at the hotel. Worked like a charm.
Good luck and enjoy the park!

That's quite a large amount of FUPA.
Eh...that may be impressive during say Presidents Day weekend, but for Independence Day...you better be leading the way in overthrowing Putin or something...;)
What will be pure hell?
better than masturbating to Wilmer Flores ;)
You may want to disown your cousin. Who the hell has a wedding on Friday, especially in the evening? Having said that, good luck!
