Hire Wally, he's coached the entire roster and wins where ever he goes

I heard Andy Martino on the WFAN one day, say there is no way Wally is going to get it because Alderson wants someone that is basically a YES man. If they fire Collins, they'll just give to Bob Geren. Alderson is the real problem.

Yeah, that's my fear also.
My fear is that the Wilpons become desperate

Fire everyone an the new gm an manager clean house an make "Win now" based trades using up 5 years of a farm system
Glass half full or half empty?

Cuddyers knee has a boo boo and likely heading towards the DL. Assume Capt K comes back, but would also like to see some new blood - maybe give another rookie like Taij a shot too? Who knows what will happen. In the next couple days.
Collins sounds like he's feeling the heat

#Mets manager Terry Collins: "I don't give a s--- if it's the Cubs or New York City College. We've got to win tomorrow's game."
If they fire Collins i'd bet they just hand it to Teuffel
Eric on Li : 6/30/2015 11:11 pm : link
and honestly no matter who they gave the job to it wouldn't make a difference. The hitting problem didn't get fixed against Cincinnati, they kept doing exactly what they had been doing which was score less than their meager season average of 3.5 and it wouldn't get fixed changing a manager.

Tejada blows, Granderson is streaky, Flores, Lagares & Plawecki are young. Murphy back helps but as we've all said, they need a lot more.

Ugggggh, please no to Tueffel.
It's even more aggravating seeing this past offseason biggest potential acquisition siting in the visitor dugout.
I think it's safe to say that how each team handled the managers

in the offseason indicates exactly how serious each of the 2 organizations are about doing everything possible to win.

Kirk is terrible. If Cadaver lands on the DL and they start trotting that guy out there in LF every day, that basically tells me this org does not give a flying shit about trying to win baseball games.

Very frustratingly, it's those fringe of the roster moves that this FO just doesn't focus on. The clubhouse could really use a scrapper type too. Perfect backup OF for the Mets.

But just adds to the glut of OF the Sox have. Would love to see a Gee for Jackie BrAdley or Victorino move.
FYI, in all the Niese to Cubs talk
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 7/1/2015 9:59 am : link
Jon Heyman tweeted on Monday, that while conversations were had between the two clubs, the Cubs have moved on to looking at the Padres' Tyson Ross and Andrew Cashner (who was a top Cubs prospect traded to the Padres for Anthony Rizzo).

I personally like both guys and feel they'd be better out of SD. Ross has a problem with walks, and Cashner was good early and got no help, and I think his confidence is shot.
Am I the only one?
Shecky : 7/1/2015 10:05 am : link
We need bats. Which means trading a pitcher. The better the pitcher traded, the better the bat.
Niese is fine. A lefty. A veteran. A competitor. I don't mind him being our 5th starter AT ALL. And I actually like his contract. See no reason to be in a rush to dump him.
Colon is the same as Niese, but a goner after this year. I'd rather a bag of balls for Colon than moving Niese, but I know I'm in the minority.

I wouldn't move Matz but I'm not against moving Thor. Who do you see as a realistic target, though? Say we are willing to move Thor.. what type of matches would we get?

I don't think a guy like Gomez is enough return and Thor won't be enough to fetch a Frazier. If Thor could net Bogaerts, I would make that swap.

I just don't know what's realistic and if we'd even move one of the big 4. Seems like the FO is expending all of their energy trying to pawn Niese/Colon off on someone.

is the kick in the dick many of us saw coming. I said it all offseason, as long as Collins was still here it was only a matter of time before Tejada was the starting SS again. And it didn't even take until mid season, lol.

Do you think that's Collins? I don't. This is an organizational decision that goes to the top. While it is very possible, even likely, that Collins agrees with the move, I don't think it was his decision alone.

I do agree with you in general about TC, he's pretty terrible, but Sparky Anderson couldn't get anything out of this bunch.
I don't
Metnut : 7/1/2015 10:17 am : link
like Tejada at the SS position, but does it really matter at this point? I've been a huge Flores guy but he's made a ton of mistakes on defense and has been ice cold at the plate. I'd rather leave him at SS, but he's still getting everyday ABs playing 2B and our defense is likely slightly better each night with him at 2B and Tejada at SS.

IMO, if we want to contend next year, we should sign Justin Upton and Ian Desmond and qualify Murphy. Flores and Herrera can start in AAA and whoever is doing better gets first shot once someone (likely Wright) gets hurt. Desmond isn't having a good year, but that might make him relatively affordable. He has a really good long term track record as being a plus SS and would make us better.
