After Knicks had sitdown with Greg Monroe in DC shortly after midnight, Milwaukee got its audience with Monroe ... starting at around 2 AM

Saw that Lakers brass are on way to Washington DC to meet with Monroe and Falk after Phil had first crack
he's not a player who can actually run an offense. Playing next to Harden is the only reason he's a starter. Would be a bad signing on the Knicks imo.
This. He's a good fit on a team with a dominant backcourt ball handler, otherwise he's really just a 3+D player whose 3 isn't all that great and whose defensive versatility is limited by his lack of ideal size.
so unless we are offering $7-8+, we are just going to get our money locked into a player who is more of a luxury than a necessity for us at this point.
He had a shooting guards that played the point. Kobe and Jordan. I can't stand this triangle offense and what it needs. Nobody knows what the f it needs besides a 3 point shooter and a passing big who can play with his back to basket. It's a failed system that's why nobody uses it. It's a ridiculous notion to find players to fit the triangle when the second Phil leaves the triangle leaves the nba forever
Atlanta, Washington, San Antonio, and Golden State make use
Spacing. That's what it is. Monroe is not a triangle player if we are going by the real definition of a triangle offense. I would grab Monroe which seems like we will and obviously take green over afflafo and that would be a nice offseason. This is a 2 year rebuild like we all know
I think that 90% of the people that talk about the triangle
Melo is a similar style player to them and would fill that role.
And like any "system", the triangle needs good players to work. If the Knicks sign good (hopefully young) players, they'll be fine whether running the triangle or not.

Goran Dragic has reached agreement on a five-year, $90 million deal with the Miami Heat, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
Pretty interesting. Its a great fit in Orlando, but Atlanta just made the Eastern Conference. Have to feel bad for them, nothing ever breaks their way.
@ESPNSteinLine Hearing Bulls swingman Jimmy Butler is leaning strongly toward taking the five-year, $90 mil max Chicago offered as opposed to shorter deal."
stuff many teams run. And Phil hasn't had ball-dominant PG's because he had 2 of the best perimeter players in NBA history for his entire coaching career. You probably don't want a ball-dominant PG because you have Carmelo, not because you're playing the triangle.
We have a lot of cap room and it will get larger in 2016. My question is why would we go on a spending spree this year, when all the real difference makers will be F/A's next year?? There's also been talk about Monroe, he's young, will command big contract ,and plays Porzingas' position. Why did we draft Porzingas if we're going after Monroe hard.???

It you can't land mid level talent when you have ample cap space it may suggest that you will serious trouble landing big stars the following year.
Monroe and Porzingis really don't play the same positions

There are no bigs available next year, unless you're a real big Ian Mahinmi fan.
I thought he was LA's second choice after Love, and LA might be LMA's second choice after the Spurs. Haven't talked to my boy in some time, he's busy with website ventures and the LA Times.
I thought San Antonio moved Splitter prior to their meeting with LMA.
They did, that's why Blazers and their fans are annoyed. No one is accusing them of tampering but it is more than evident that the Spurs had a bit of a head start with LMA. It happens.
I was just wondering why we would commit possibly half of the available money now to possibly one body when we are going to need more than one. Thank you for the position explanation between Porzingis and Monroe!
LMA would be 2nd choice for Lakers behind Love, he's a better player than Love.
It has more to do with him being a favorite son of LA. UCLA favorite coming home is a big deal.
He played at UCLA for one year. He's not from LA. This whole connection to LA thing has been completely overblown for years.
Why would him playing at UCLA matter to Lakers brass? They should be concerned about one thing and one thing only, getting the better player, and i dont think anyone can argue Love is better. Getting a favorite son of LA doesn't matter to Mitch Kupchak, nor should it.

Could see why they'd think that but teams make gutsy decisions like that a lot. Lakers did that one year with Lamar Odom to free space for a trade for Paul I think. Rockets did that last year with Asik and Lin to go after Chris Bosh.
About a year ago I was told they coveted Love, and planned to make a pitch for him the first chance they got. That was backed up by Larry Coon. Like I said, haven't talked to the friend in awhile and it's possible LMA moved ahead of Love, can't say either way for certain.
Hard to believe they wont since they are meeting right now in DC...
I disagree i like Beverly depending on Contract...still young, good defender, can hit the open 3..

Thad young 4 and 50
Nothing unexpected- they are basically done until next year unless they find someone to take on deron - not likely

And they're not just collecting players that fit into the Triangle.
Porzingis isn't a back-to-the-basket, low post big and probably never will be.

worse team, less money, stronger conference....

Yeah I know, but he was apparently all about the Lakers in recent years. Playing with Lebron probably has enough power to reverse course.
