A source told Sporting News at the opening of free agency that the Knicks have major interest in Beverley, and that the interest is mutual. The Knicks contacted Beverley shortly after free agency began.
Maybe he likes the Southeast?
In a rapidly rising cap environment, if you're paying $15m per year for 15 and 10 on 50% shooting and 70+% from the stripe, you're doing just fine. These may be unsexy numbers for a second option on offense, but he's only the second option in year 1 (and perhaps not even then), if things go well....
He's a good athlete. He moves comfortably in his body, which is no where near a given with guys of his size. Very coordinated. Those traits have made him a force on the offensive end and on the boards. It could also help him on the defensive end with the right help.

RT @Chris_Broussard Sources: Danny Green has agreed to a 4 year, $45 million deal with the Spurs
Yeah same here, I thought he was from Louisiana and checked to make sure he was. Born, raised and attended college there. I know Orlando is exciting and I am happy for them if he goes there, but it kinda stinks seeing Atlanta just hit 60 wins and still isn't an attractive spot for even their own guys. You wonder what else Atlanta can do. At least they are well coached and I am sure they'll find one way or another to hit 50 wins again this year. I think they'll end up taking on David Lee and whatever pick GS gives them.
the Orlando offer is the only one that's been reported so far and there's only so many teams with max cap room, especially once LMA and Jordan decide. If there's another team willing to go 4/80 for him it would be somewhat surprising.
Another underrated aspect of his game is playing the passing lanes. 1.2 steals per game doesn't do it enough justice, but he does have good hands and great BB IQ.

I think that was me. All his rate statistics (both offense and defense) are better at the 5. Even his block rate, although he's still not good enough to qualify as a rim protector. You can look it up on 82games.com.
Not exactly a bold statement. He averaged 16 and 10 this season. You're basically saying he can score one more basket a game.
But yeah, now SA has to move Splitter and maybe even Diaw. I'd rather have Splitter; I wouldn't mind absorbing his contract. If we could stretch Calderon, we'd have $6-7 mil to work with.
I hope Green in SA means LA in LA, since the Lakers are maybe the biggest competition for Monroe.
If we stretch Calderon and the cap is 2 mill more, it may not be impossible to sign both (at least in theory).
Melo,Monroe and Jordan/LMA would be a team that could make some serious noise in the East.
More than any other NBA city, the beauty of Orlando is in the eye of he beholder.
How are the school systems there?

The no state income tax is a big draw for any Florida team, but you're right. Unless you're a player with kids the allure of Orlando is kind of nil.
I really think he'll break out with ~33 mpg at C.

Splitter trade tells me LMA to SA more likely. Makes Monroe to Knicks less likely. Makes Carroll to Knicks more likely. I think that's it.

I know Dan's in on O'Quinn, lets start sending petitions to MSG!
Spurs are walking into the LaMarcus Aldridge meeting right now, armed with Danny Green, cap space and frontrunner status on luring Aldridge.

Why does it make monroe to knicks less likely? Don't get that connection. Because Portland wants him now?

I like Carroll a lot, but it would be scary to pay big money to a late bloomer kinda guy.

Maybe he thinks the Lakers have the inside track on Monroe after missing out (potentially) on Aldridge?

That's true too

Eric, that's not what I was meaning to convey. I was saying it's interesting how mixed their free agent history has been, there's really no parallel to them. They are the organization who hasn't been able to retain the 2 best players they've ever had, yet they've also attracted guys like TMAC and Grant Hill who were both mega free agents at the time. Almost nabbed Duncan too.

I think this means Carroll is going back to Atlanta now.
My read on Hawks taking Splitter ($8.5m) into cap room is bye-bye DeMarre Carroll.
Id rather carroll then Afflalo. I dont really know why, but i would, ha.
