at a bar during my lunch break. As soon as the USA beat France, the female bartender cranked on "We Are the Champions." Had a bad feeling as soon as that happened.
world cup games are getting monster ratings on TV. I think it's a bit of a generation gap as younger Americans are more interested in women's sports and soccer.

I can't recall but have they had world cup games (even with the US playing) before on weeknight prime time on a network channel?
its amazing to me that people care about this. This isn't the best soccer in the world, its the best soccer by people who aren't naturally as good at soccer and therefore need their own, subpar league.

That is idiotic
By that logic no one would care about high school sports

if for no other reason than losing out on Ian Darke, but I like what Fox is doing. They are making big plays on the WWC, are promoting the Gold Cup, will be showing NWSL matches, and signed a deal with the Bundesliga which is huge.
It's important to keep in mind that US fans get excited and watch products with USA slapped on the front of the jersey.
But more than the ratings, I thought that the biggest positive indicator about interest in this team is that the attendance in the send-off matches.
2011 Send-Off at Red Bull Arena: 5,852
2015 Send-Off at Red Bull Arena: 26,467
The more I like them. So much of men's sports is simply about who physically can dominate the other player. Women's sports seem to be a lot more strategic and team oriented. Basketball seems to be like old style basketball with everything about moving the ball to get the open shot. I really like that it is more about playing as a team.
Its actually a shame that they don't get more exposure.
have each beaten #1 Germany in the same month. Not bad, not bad at all.
Only one of those games actually mattered. The men's win is the equivalent of the Giants bearing the Pats this August in the preseason. Doesn't make us the champs.

Wow. You remain the biggest cock sucking douchebag on this board. Congrats!

Man...just when I think your actually not going to make an asinine comment somewhere, You prove me wrong time and again
Friendly wins have been overrated by USMNT for a while
US Soccer, media, fans... All give them more weight than they deserve. It's indicative of the inferiority complex that USMNT continues to suffer from and is its single biggest impediment.
Friendly wins carry zero meaning. The latest example is Brazil, who had won ten friendlies in a row only to lose to Peru when it actually mattered last week. The sooner we all (media and fans) stop treating friendlies like they matter the better for the national team, because I think that perception fuels decisions made by the federation.
Time to stop acting like little brothers on the world stage.

It's not a league.
It almost sounds like he means gender
it must be that it was chris r who advised Sepp and his #2 to stay away from such inferior play, the Finals no less, have them play on artificial turf, stay in the same hotels as opponents, etc.

try telling that to the two women who both almost cracked their skulls open.

What?!?!?
Merkel: Were you listening in on Frau Neid? There's no way your manager could have come up with that game plan
Obama: We only promised not to listen in on you, Angela...
is there does not seem to be as much flopping and the dramatics that come with flopping. Great win for the USA. Great defense!
Colombia sure flopped a lot, but I agree that it seems like the women seem to flop less than the dudes on the whole. Is there any merit to this observation?

Yes, there's been far more honest play from the women. However there are a few exceptions as noted above and Marta from 4 years ago went to ground pretty easily

My dad always said, "there's no limit to stupid". Some guys just insist on continually lowering the bar.

That is a huge increase.
My whole family was going nuts last night.
I'm also a former classmate of one player (my brother was in her grade, I'm a grade below), and it's so cool to see her representing.
Its actually a shame that they don't get more exposure.

It eliminates a large fountain of stupidity on BBI.
