Colin Cowherd hangs up on Jim Harbaugh.

Two egomaniacs going at it. Can't post the link but it's on ESPN's site. Very awkward, but funny as hell.

Haven't heard the interview, but you get a guy like Harbaugh to come on an proceed to hang up on him? Should do wonders for booking future guests...

Bad guy to interview.
On the Lebatard show the other day they had Shawn Marion

who was the absolute worst. At one point the host asked him who his coach was in Toronto and Marion said he couldn't remember.

Right up there with Chris Russo interviewing Serena Williams. Sometimes there is no connection or skills with the radio interviewer and the interviewee can pick up on it. A lot of Cowherd interviews are hit or misses from what I've seen.

Probably had it coming. He's awful.
Do these two have a history?
RobCarpenter : 7/1/2015 2:04 pm : link
Harbaugh just wasn't going to give him any real answers and when he started to set up for the 49er questions "you only look in the rear view mirror' Harbaugh decided he was done.
I really don't care for Cowherd myself.
Tittle 9 20 64 : 7/1/2015 2:07 pm : link
But why agree to the interview in the first place if your not going to give the host anything. Unless contract wise he has to.
that's 100% on Harbaugh

I agree. He better be sure to always have some charismatic assistants on his staff. His super-intense attitude won't relate to a whole lot of teenage football prospects and his name will only pull so much weight, especially with the kids being recruited by multiple "big name" coaches.
I actually think it's a good situation for him.
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/1/2015 2:50 pm : link
His act can wear thin and alienate players. In college, you only need to deal with it for 2-3 years.
Cowherd is the best IMHO.

The ONLY sports talk show I tune in to in the football off-season is cowherd. I have less than zero interest in basketball, baseball etc., but he makes them interesting and I never though that was possible.

And the fact that the NFL is by far his favorite sport means I'm liable to catch some football talk even in the off season.
Good for Cowherd...
John in No Cal : 7/1/2015 2:52 pm : link
Harbaugh would do this to the local homer radio station on a regular basis. Exactly like that.....short terse answers to open ended questions where the host (who was giving him lay up questions) would awkwardly keep asking questions.

Really? Listen....I am not a fan of Cowherd...and that is an understatement.

But, you have 10 better questions? On the spot?

Generally when you ask a question, the answer you get will be a pretty good segway into a follow up. Harbaugh didn't even attempt to answer the questions from the very beginning.

Harbaugh blows. Cowherd Blows. Case closed.

From everything I've seen and read Harbaugh is very involved in recruiting. Just because he didn't want to talk to Cowherd doesn't mean he's that way with recruits.

If he didn't want to talk to Cowherd, he shouldn't have told the show ahead of time that he would come on to talk and that they should book a slot for him.

You do realize that just 5 (five) years ago, he was the head coach of college kids he recruited at Stanford, correct?
To be fair..
FatMan in Charlotte : 7/1/2015 4:21 pm : link
Harbaugh wasn't at Stanford long enough to say that. His last year was the only time he had close to 4 years worth of recruits, and some of the seniors and redshirted upperclassmen weren't his.

haha both of those interviews sound amazing.

Cowherd is basically a smarter Skip Bayless. He is all about pushing the narrative and agenda that he wants. Everything with him is so black and white it's ridiculous. I do respect his knowledge, you can tell he actually watches a lot of sports but his POV is awful more times than not.

I heard the interview on the radio live. IMHO, it was entirely on Harbaugh. Cowherd wasn't rude, didn't ask him any "out of line" questions. Harbaugh didn't seem as if he wanted to be there.

Personally, I find Cowherd entertaining. I don't think Cowherd takes himself seriously and knows he's just there to give opinions, generate discussions and provide entertainment. He also talks a lot of NFL.

I find Dan Patrick insufferable. He is so full of himself. Loves to schmooze with celebrities. Has a staff of sycophants. Rarely has anything interesting or insightful to add.

Now that I have NFL Sirius Radio, I listen to Cowherd less and, thankfully, Patrick almost never. The best part of the Dan Patrick show is his weekly segment with Rich Eisen.

If today's Cowherd interview with Harbaugh is even a small window into Harbaugh's personality, Harbaugh is an even bigger ass than I thought.

Cowherd doesn't carry himself like, say, a Francesca. He has fun with his role in the media and doesn't pretend to be more than he is. That's why it's comical when people express hatred for Cowherd. What a waste of energy. He's just a dude talking sports and doesn't pretend to be anything more than that.

I recall Colin making mediocre predictions for Michigan this year, perhaps that was the reason for Jim being indifferent at times.

That's exactly why he has the radio job. You got to have an agenda to be a show host, not just a yes man and kissing up to everyone. 9 times out of 10 you get dull raido show hosts asking the generic questions or giving the generic opinions. Cowherd is usually right on most things when you look at it objectively, but he kinda states them in a douchey way.

Cowherd didn't hang up on him. Clearly there was nothing but dead air on the other end of the line anyway. JH did drive one point home though he has already done this....He's an asshole!

That was the first thing I noticed too.

No "Jim, how are you", "Jim, good morning" or anything to start out. It was just straight into character.

Now, maybe he does that with all his interviews. But the way that started out would have put me in a not so good place.
Harbaugh with his annoying act
NINEster : 7/2/2015 10:43 pm : link
wore out Niner fans last year, finally.

I think the league will start to see that he was a decent but not great coach. He had a few nice moments like the first time the 49ers played Green Bay, and that game in New England. Other than that, a lot of talented players winning grinding games.

I'll spare you the details but more than half of Niner fans now think he was pretty overrated and the reason the team never got a Lombardi with him.

The Niners are gonna suck this year or repeat 2011/2012.

Nothing in between, you heard it here first.

Beating NO in 2012 was a pretty impressive win whether it was in NO or SF. The three year run was damn imoressive, and whether or not JH is overrated... he still should get credit for it.
