I can't stand Collins and want him gone
Torrag : 7/2/2015 10:36 am : link
Who is he going to play? There is no talent. Any shakeup has to start with Sandy and involves player movement.
YIKES! My son's American Legion team could out hit
Victor in CT : 7/2/2015 10:57 am : link
that bunch.

Shecky, exactly how is this Collins' fault? which prime time bat is he not playing today? HE DOESN'T HAVE ONE. NOT ONE LEGIT MAJOR LEAGUE BAT. Blame Alderson and ownership.

Also, you do understand that Collins (nor any manager) does not have free rein to run the team as he sees fit under the Alderson/Beane model, right? The manager is viewed as "middle management", there to execute what he is told by the GM.

Do we get shut out again today? Gotta be a decent chance with Arrieta on the hill for CHC I would think.
Maybe they can DH Matz, Harvey and Syndegaard

when they play in AL parks. :-)
Mets sign Giminez

the number 2 ranked IFA and Gregory Guerrero. Not a bad day for the organization. Please don't tell what this does for today
And they still don't DL Cuddy

Bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.

Blaming the manager for the terrible offense and sub-par defense, I don't get it. Murpy and Tejada have no baseball sense, Flores can't do anything lately, Duda forgot how to hit, etc.

That said, I'd probably can him, shake things up. Easier to fire the manager than the squad.
You can not blame
Metnut : 7/2/2015 12:27 pm : link
Collins for the team's offensive woes and still think he's a shitty manager.
Duda
Hilary : 7/2/2015 12:57 pm : link
This guy cost himself a lot of money when he turned down contract extension.Hard to blame Sandy or Collins for injuries to D'Arnaud,Wright,Murphy,Blevins and regression of Duda.

and Guerrero was ranked number 6, right? Nice! I'm choosing to focus on this positive and not our embarrassing lack of offense/triple A position players.
Is there a dumber

base runner than Murph? He would have been picked off of 2nd ladt night with just an average throw from the catcher.
lol MURPHY
feelflows : 7/2/2015 1:27 pm : link
gets picked off at 1st...BY THE CATCHER

same ol story same ol NY METS...my friends
jeez that is pathetic. can't field, can't run the bases, no baseball

IQ, and he's their best hope in the lineup today.

I'm laughing..seriously.

He doubles off the wall, other guys can't get it out of the infield.

Either Sandy
gmen9892 : 7/2/2015 2:00 pm : link
Is desperately trying to get to the ASB with this team as currently constructed until reinforcements get back, or there is truly nobody selling anything of notice.

I would find it very hard to believe that Sandy is doing nothing with all this outside pressure. It would be a really bad look if that was the case.

If I start seeing other teams make moves while we are still standing by idly, then I will start pointing fingers at Sandy.
example given

Tejada 1st pitch weak grounder to SS... nice
Grandy comes

You can get anything you want in MLB, if you're willing to give up
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/2/2015 2:03 pm : link
something.

The Mets could probably have Tulo at SS if they were willing to trade off one of these pitchers.

I'm not saying they should, but strictly saying that there are always deals to be made if they're willing to pay up in prospects or absorb salary.

They're not willing to.
And the first runner
Stufftherun : 7/2/2015 2:04 pm : link
to cross the plate in 20 plus innings is our SP ...should have known.
I personally do not
ZGiants98 : 7/2/2015 2:06 pm : link
want to trade off one of our big pitchers under and circumstance.

The worst thing would be to trade one off for a temporary bandaid that likely only mildly helps us. If players like Duda don't come out of it and we don't get a couple guys back from the DL like TDA and Wright this team isn't going anywhere anyway. Might as well keep the stud pitching and reload in the offseason.
I wouldn't give up anything for Tulowitzki. He's always hurt
Victor in CT : 7/2/2015 2:14 pm : link
and offensively he is a completely different player away from the thin air in Colorado. Here are some lifetime home vs. away #s:

xxxx avg slg OPS+
Home .325 .563 116
Away .276 .466 84

Add in his ridiculous contract and it spells A-V-O-I-D
I would move one of our young starting pitchers in a package
Torrag : 7/2/2015 2:16 pm : link
It would only be for the right bat under contract. Who that is and what assets from the pipeline would be sacrificed I hope Sandy knows because that is his job.

Wheeler will be back and we'll still send four studs to the mound out of five next season. I'm thinking long term with the understanding that David Wright can no longer be 'the man' for this club.

The player acquired would be expensive though so the 'don't trade any pitchers' crowd can calm down as the Wilponsis will never go for it.

Agreed. There's no reason for a panic move at this juncture and unless a potential move is centered around Niese, Gee or Colon it likely isn't worth it.
It just hit me like a thunderbolt
Headhunter : 7/2/2015 2:32 pm : link
you can laugh at me and tell how obvious it is, but it just hit me. Yes they need bat(s) but what the need more is someone other than Matt Harvey that has a personality and will get in players faces and kick them in the ass. They need a Keith Hernandez or a Gary Carter type who wouldn't stand for this nonsense and get in guy's grills. This is a team of Duda's. No personalities, no fire, no life. I'm not talking about Keith's bat or The Kid's bat which would help. Gets Nails a Backman an in your face guy

That's a copout. Sandy should know because thats his job?? You don't have a single solution but he should? There are no solutions. There's only a handful of elite hitters in the game and they aren't available. The second tier guys aren't worth it and some like Upton will be available in the offseason anyway.

Sadly, thats the reputation Cuddyer had. Reynolds seems like he might be a gritty player. I agree with your premise though.

BINGO
It is so in front of my face
Headhunter : 7/2/2015 2:38 pm : link
this is like watching the Walking Dead. Harvey can only do it 1 every 6 days. You need a spark plug a Chase Utley that plays with an edge. Ray Knight where are you to punch Eric Davis in the face?

Agree 100% with your last post.
Couple weeks ago when they struck out in 9th inning all by looking at strike 3 pitches Cuddyer came out and said ,"hey thats baseball". Pussy attitude approach.
Actually going back to the Beltran

era, I long thought this team was full of pansies. We've long had a team full of choir boys that wilted like flowers when the heat was turned up (see 2007-2008) and it hasn't changed since.

Lol. Ok so continue bitching about moves that should be made that you have zero solutions for. Thanks.
You also have serious reading comprehension issues

Not surprising as you view every statement through the goggles of your own agenda. Done with this. Please go back to your daily bipolar meltdown.

Daily meltdown? Do you even post here? Seriously. You show up once a year to offer gems like...

"I'm not immersed in the business of baseball to build a winning team." That's Sandy's job apparently.... Yet you come here to tell us how to run a business of baseball and to build a winning team...lol.

Thanks for your awesome input.

There is a huge lack of personality in baseball. And it goes all e way down the ladder. It's become too "professional" in High School and stays that way. There are some personalities out there, but few and far between. It has become a very bland game which makes it difficult to promote.
