Sounds like he won't be back tonite. Maybe tomorrow or Sunday. How about next Tuesday? Or Friday? Or August? Geez, take your time, pal. Guy has got to be the slowest healer in MLB history.
especially since he was the best guy in the lineup before he went on the DL. So, screw him. Baseball players gonna baseball player, but this guy takes that to the extreme, I guess.
That would say they would have signed Cano at those numbers needs a brain scan. I agree that the Ellsbury signing was bad, but the Cano signing would have been worse yet. Have you looked at what he is doing, and don't give me the Yankee Stadium bullshit either. I would have been OK with Ellsbury on a 4 year deal, the guy busts his ass when he does play and plays one way, the next time Cano busts his ass will be the first, so let's not revisit Cano, let's stick with one thing, the Ellsbury signing, which was bad, no doubt.

Exactly, Plus down the line we can have a Beltran situation. Those last 3 years should be interesting.
I would of stayed away and resigned Cano who played 150 games a year
Do you have any clue on how awful Cano has been this year? Yet, you have no problem signing him to a 10 year contract? Yay! Only 8 1/2 more dreadful years to go, but at least he's not Ellsbury!
and I hate the contract, but at least he still plays at a high level when he's on the field. Sure Cano plays every day, but he goes 0-4 every day too. Hurray?
honestly I think the Yanks have been very mum on the injury
A team that has more money then anyone so yes. I would of gave him that money and at the time he was the best second basemen in the game he was consistent he is a great fielder. How is our second basemen done the last two seasons??cano on one leg and on a down year is 1000 times better then Stephen Drew. And he was a home grown player. If cano was still a Yankee he would be a lot better then he's been for Seattle because of Yankee stadium.
I can't believe there are still people on here clamoring for Cano. You really want 8 1/2 more years of a diminishing second baseman on a huge contract?? These are the same morons that have been bitching about Sabathia and Teixeira's deals.
Regardless, to actually want Cano his contract right now, shoooo.. Have you watched him hit this year? It's been brutal. 5 home runs and a .244 average in the 2nd year of a 10 year 240 million contract, to want that you must be crazy.

Over Stephen Drew and two players who can't steal healthy Beltran and Ellsbury ,,yes
But maybe ellsbury didn't want to shoot juice into his veins unlike mr perfect David Ortiz. Ortiz actually yelled "rich bitch" at ellsbury in center field when the yanks sox squared off earlier. Stay classy Ortiz we all know you can do no wrong.
Ellsbury could just be hurt and isn't ready to play yet. Or he's a lazy rich bitch. Impossible to know for sure.

Cano's slash line so far I s .244/.282/.360.
His splits are .269/.306/.393 at home and .222/.259/.329 on the road
Why do I get the feeling that, had the Yankees re-signed him, you'd be right there with a bunch of other people pissing and moaning about them giving out another huge contract?
I also love how people just assume it's Ellsbury's decision
to come back. Yeah, that must be it. Can't be the FO is being cautious because they don't want to risk an even bigger injury. No, it must be because he's lazy or a pussy.
I never liked Cashman's decision to let Granderson walk
and to instead sign Ellsbury. Sure, Grandy's not producing much for the Mets, but nobody hits in that ballpark. With the Yankees, Granderson was good for 40 HRs a year and he played a more than acceptable center field. Even if Ellsbury had left behind his injury history (which he hasn't done), I'd rather have Grandy with his 40 homers at $15 mil/yr rather than pay Ellsbury $21 mil/yr and assume that his one decent year (32 HRs, 105 RBIs) was going to become standard fare.
Yea I would cry like a baby if Cano who was a home grown Yankee and one of my favorite current players at the time was highly overpaid to stay in pinstripes to finish his career like other Yankee home grown greats i grew up watching Don Mattingly And Bernie Williams. And then guys like Jeter and Mo,
