NFT: Rays at Yankees game 1

nygnyy274 : 7/4/2015 1:22 am
WoW one of the best Yankee wins in a few years Tex with a huge homer in in the 8th and another big hit later on in the 12th when the Yankees were down 5-3 to get within 1 and then McCann with a huge walk off home run, the first seven innings were aggravating archer is a good pitcher I think he is like 6-0 against the Yankees. They seem to never figure this guy out but once he was out of the game the offense woke up. Hopefully they can get going after a game like this... Have a happy 4th,
Superb win

boy they hammered the Rays pen. I'll tell you a lot of people complained about the Tex/McCann contracts coming into the year but they have more than lived up to them this year. In this wacky year in the East I think they'll hang around all year and make it fun.
Great win no doubt

Couple of things. It kills me when the beat writers bash the Yankees when the offense sputters at times. It happens to all teams. Good pitching shuts down good hitting. This teams is second in all of baseball in runs scored and average runs per game. And, I believe second or third in all of baseball in home runs.

I don't care what anyone says about Adam Warren and why he was the choice to got to the bullpen. Fat Mike Francesa says he's a good pitcher not great. Hes been their most consistent pitcher. You know what you are getting everytime he takes the mound. I worry about Nova. He's talented but has shown to be a head case in the past.

As for C.C. , if he wasn't pulling down so much salary there is no way the Yanks demote Warren and not scratch C.C. From the rotation. He's pitched on the same level as Chris Capuano and he is now in the bullpen. I realize the Yanks hands are tied and its a shame because Warren has developed into a solid starting pitcher, and deserves to stay in the rotation.
Archer is one of the best pitchers in baseball

and probably the best pitcher nobody talks about. He's a handful. Caught some of the game last night and it was like a Yanks win during the dynasty years against Pedro...wait out the starter and hammer the bullpen
For sure

Yanks have very few answers when they face Archer. And that goes for anyone who faces him. He's a damn good pitcher.

I could not agree more on Warren, he is their most consistent pitcher I guess francesa has been focusing on the met games to much an has missed games warren has pitch, because his show just has to revolve 4 hours around that team win or lose, while the Yankees are likely to get 50 seconds of air time about the game the night before with about three Yankee callers the whole day.
I hated the Warren move...

but Tanaka hasn't been as efficient as usual, Eovaldi tends to be inefficient, Nova's health is a concern and Pineda might have an innings limit of his own. We're going to see a lot of 5-6 IP starts and a lot of the bullpen being asked to make things stand up. I know Shreve struggled a bit yesterday, but Wilson went five weeks without giving up a run and Rumbelow had a nice inning of work. This is shaping up to be a very good pen and considering the issues without our rotation Warren is going to end up being an important part of it.
Let's

Also keep in mind Miller should be back no later than after the AS break.
Around the 8th I was tempted to turn off the game

And watch insidious chapter 3. Glad I stuck with the game! Fun game

wildly inconsistent season so far but here we are.
Agree about warren
djm : 7/4/2015 10:48 am : link
He deserves to keep his spot in the rotation but I think he will put out a lot of fires in the bp. He may be even more valuable out there. And knowing the yanks they will trade for a veteran starter before too long which will move CC to the long relief role anyway. So you'd have tanaka, Pineda, nova, evoldi and the newly acquired pitcher. There's you're five. Warren could literally save this season as the bp horse-- the Mendoza of his time.

We really need ellsbury.
McCann not in the lineup

I understand he caught 12 innings and day game after night but we had a off day thursday and we have a off day monday and we are a week away from the all star break,

So wait, you just stated that he caught 12 innings last night. And today is a day game. And you STILL don't understand why he needs a breather?

You are a treat.
The thing about the Warren situation...
blueblood'11 : 7/4/2015 11:24 am : link
that annoys me the most is that it would appear the Yankees have some young arms to possibly assume that seventh inning role that Warren has so adeptly handled the past couple of years. That's how he broke in.

Rumbelow was outstanding last night and Mitchell has shown he has good stuff as well. I just think taking a known and reliable quantity out of the rotation and putting him into the bullpen is like robbing Peter to pay Paul. Then when they realize they made a mistake he won't be stretched out like he is now.
