"It's the greatest victory in the history of this franchise,

without question. I just want to say to all you Giants fans who have supported us for more than 30 years at Giants Stadium, for all those years in Yankee Stadium, and some of you even back to the Polo Grounds, this is for you!" - John Mara, following Super Bowl 42

For some reason I thought of these words today - maybe John Mara's finest moment during his tenure as owner. I was sky high after that game, and remember pumping my fist at those words, and did the same when Terry Bradshaw introduced Eli as "your MVP!"

What a night that was.

Bout' damn time to make some new memories

I love the fact that I can ask...

which one was that?

(I know it's 42)

I just saw you put that in there.

Disregard!
Haha I actually don't remember his '46' speech that well.

Something about being left for dead in November. Nothing beats Super Bowl 42 for me.

I had a really good feeling about that team heading into

the playoffs. My biggest worry was getting past Dallas in the regional matchup. I wasn't laying bets or anything, but just had a really good vibe about that club, and about how Eli might rise to the occasion. Spags was awesome as our DC during that run.
18-1

And damn there isn't anything better than having ultimate bragging rights over the Patriots and their fanbase.

Oh Brady won 4? Well he could have won 6 if it wasn't for Eli and those GGGGGGG-Men!

18-1, best day of my 23 year old life thus far that is for sure.
We beat Tom Brady

And the undefeated (UNDEFEATED) Patriots on the Super Bowl on a drive in the final 2 minutes that included the best play in NFL history.

Hahahaha
I thought SB XX!

That would have been another moment for his "It's nice to see arrogance humbled." comment.
It's difficult to top SB XXI for me. Remember,

the Giants wandered in the wasteland for 18 years between 1964 and 1981. I became a fan in 1968 and lived through the worst of it. SB XXI was special.

Of course there are some old-timers who will say that 1956 was the best.
The '86 team is irreplaceable
Torrag : 7/4/2015 5:35 pm : link
They're the best Giants team I've seen...so far. The 2008 club had my attention for that spot right up until Plax shot himself and it all unraveled.

+1
You almost exactly match my Giant experience.
I am an Old Timer

and 56 was great but nothing will ever compare to breaking the hearts of the Pats in XLII. We Really did shock the World, and I am convinced but for Plax we would have won again, he shot us all that night. Think about how that one incident changed the fortunes of so many different Teams and People, it's quite Amazing really.
as a giant fan for more than 65 years I can say every win is joyous

After dying with the team from 1970 when I became a fan, it was surreal when we pulled away in the 3rd quarter. It wasn't like a screaming "lets get them now" feeling, it was like a "holy crap whats happening" feeling. LT, Simms, Banks, Carson, the Suburbanites, and Bavaro will always be #1 for me.
