A sad day for us Knicks fan's when we're pumped about a kyle O'Quinn signing. Jus saying
I agree but damn it, Knicks don't have their 2016 pick and they need bodies. I don't think Phil did a great job this off season but Grunwald is the reason why there is an urgency to add average bodies in here. Shame on people praising that Bargnani trade when it happened. Just SMH.
BTW: Every Knick president has killed prior history of trading our #1s and then they turn around and do it when their plan goes to shit. What's up with that? Serious, from Checketts to Grunwald they have all said no more of that and eventually do it. And before someone says it's Dolan, that practice went on even when Paramount owned the Knicks.
And the guys they got have potential to do better then they have shown.
Top talent want to go to a winner......and the Knicks are certainly not there yet
And truth is, while nobody thinks the Knicks will be a real contender this season, the gap between last seasons Knicks and being a playoff team in the mediocre East isn't too wide
the talent is so watered down in the NBA.....way back when, just about every team had their Big 3....now, a lot of teams don't even have a big 1.....
Knicks have been cursed since somehow, someway, they got the #1 pick, and it was Ewing.....Remember all the titles we were going to win when we drafted him?
for four years. The Afflalo signing was nice, but it's a short term rental. Lopez is a good player but cost too much. I don't get the Williams signing, but I hope Phil knows something that leads him to believe that Williams attitude and work ethic will improve.

False. The talent in today's NBA is leaps and bounds better than the last generation. Every team had a big three? No.
He needed to rebuild this team with a solid base. RoLo, O'Quinn are not flashy pickups. But they give this team a inside defensive presence that they had been lacking. AA gives a us a decent SG. Williams is a question mark, but maybe his light can turn on. He has the potential. Grant and Zing give us an injection of youth with potential. It's a rebuild back to respectability. Next year we will look far more attractive in free agency because we will be a team on the upswing instead of a 65 loss team with holes everywhere.
clear they weren't interested in coming to the Knicks. That's what you'd expect from a smart guy.
But O'Quinn is JAG, and we'd better hope that Aflalo can be an effective starter, that Lopez stays healthy, that the rookies are able to give us a lot of good minutes, and that Fisher learns how to coach pretty quickly. Because this team is not very talented unless the rookies are outstanding.
Fifteen years of mismanagement can't be fixed in one offseason.
And you should give him minutes, then you need an answer when they start pushing him around on the block. This is a really good answer. Very complimentary to vote Williams and porzingis. Nice deal. Brings toughness.
the $10m for two years spent on D Williams. Although he was the 2nd pick in the draft a few years ago, he has had chances to show that he was worth that pick and has bombed each time.
His defensive ranking was among the lowest of all forwards in 2014/15, he is an average passer at best and is a poor shooter.
If the Knicks had no one else to spend the money on, they should have kept their powder dry to see what else emerges during the season.

He'd obliterate any talk of the NBA being watered down compared to the 80s and 90s.
Proof? International players. There's my proof.
Collegiate players aren't as refined or seasoned as year's past but they are still here. Mix in the international element and it's pretty clear that the NBA is not watered down at all. There's more talent in the NBA today than ever before.
Doesn't even pass the eye test in my view. At the very least the athleticism in today's NBA is off the charts. Back in the day you didn't see nearly the same amount of athletic bigs that you have today. I don't think the NBA lacks big men today I think many of the big men are much more athletically gifted. Guys like durant and lebron simply didn't exist 30 years ago. If they did they'd be playing stay at home center of power forward. The game has changed from an athletic standpoint.

I think under the current circumstances, the Knicks did about as well as they can, and that includes the signing of O'Quinn.
If they can make the playoffs they are going to look a lot better to players

Ever watch the Atlantic Division games?
