Crazy match earlier between rivals Chile and Argentina in Santiago for the Copa. At the very end of the 90 minutes, Messi led a break and found Lavezzi on the left. Lavezzi slipped a great through ball to Higuain who put it on the wrong side of the post from point blank range.
The match goes to penalties and Higuain missed the 2nd penalty by skying it over the bar. Chile hit all their penalties, including an Alexis Sanchez 'panenka' to seal the title on home soil.
Normally there is a 2 or 4 year wait for the next tournament but this time Chile will have to defend the Copa next year in the States as US Soccer hosts the 100th anniversary of the tournament, the Copa America Centenario. For a long time American soccer fans wanted their team to compete in the Copa America and I think from this point on, US Soccer is going to commit to it. The US in future Copa Americas is a huge money spinner for the TV networks both in the States and in Latin America as the US soccer audience will produce huge ratings for major tournaments and the Latin American audience wants to see us embarrassed and will play up a US showdown as the gringos trying to conquer them...
