Heard he was In good spirits. Flesh off palm/ fingers, tips but all fingers are there. Thank God. Prayers to him and his family.

Agreed. Very foolish to play with fireworks, but people make mistakes. His entire life is likely crashing down on him right now. It says more about the person name-calling him than JPP himself, IMO.
because he had a real concern about safety and handled it foolishly. This is basically moronic. Did he forget the reason why he didn't participate in OTAs on the 4th of July or something.

Awful judgement on his part to say the least.
Ok well if he has all his fingers thats a good thing
who may never see the tens of millions of dollars that could've transformed their lives because their dipshit dad/grandpa/uncle couldn't resist playing with explosives.
You feel bad for the non-existent grandchildren of a millionaire. Yep, I've heard everything now.
What's so crazy about that? This guy may have just pissed away close to $200 million. He let his whole family down - not to mention teammates. If this is a career-ended, it's one of the colossal fuck-ups in history.
He's made millions.
We live I'm a meritocracy.
Go get a job you lazy bums looking for a handout.

Jason Pierre-Paul expected to meet with doctors, they will have their say, but early indications are, hand injury is not career threatening.
things in their life and don't pay a price. OK to feel sympathy for a guy who isn't so lucky. Wish him the best right now. Plenty of time to chew over the consequences for the season later.
Some of you disgust me that I'm ashamed you're Giants fans and you root for the same team that I do. Can we at least find out the severity of his injury and the circumstances surrounding his injury before we rescind the fricking contract? The guy was a huge part of a Super Bowl championship, and maybe he hasn't lived up to lofty expectations in the past few years. But, at least, be classy about this before you mock the shit out of him and call him dumb. This thread would fit in real well on igglephans.com

Yeah, but we do love to say how Giants fans are a cut above and classier, don't we? Not in this thread.
It's sad when I know for a fact that family members of Giants read this board.
He's always been dumb. That's ok I know some dumb people and have some dumb friends. I'm just not surprised when they do dumb shit. Just like I'm not surprised JPP did something stupid. As the saying goes you can't teach stupid. He's still a good guy.

So your first instinct when one of your dumb friends does something stupid is, "I knew he was stupid."
I would think it would be, "oh shit, I hope he's ok."
So he exceeded my already low expectations for him.
In the long term this is good for the Giants. It Sabres them from potentially doing something very stupid.
The stupidity was clear the day he threw Prince in the tub. Might as well have started a countdown clock to stupidity then.
The tub thing again? Come on Terps.
You're gonna tell me you didn't think this guy was a complete fucking moron? At best an immature fool, at worst someone who would let a firework explode in his hand.
I hope the injury isn't bad, but he did the Giants a favor.
Yeah correcting grammar on a forum will getcha into Mensa

Humans are complex beings with the ability to feel multiple emotions at one time. I can simultaneously feel empathy for him and his family (knowing you may have messed up your family's future must weigh very heavily in ones mind) and at the same time feel he is incredibly negligent and dumb for handling fireworks when he has so much to lose.
It's one thing to think he did an idiotic thing-most, if not all, would agree-but another to say stuff like that when the man could possibly have lost fingers.
Ok, here's a substantive rebuttal. If you're JPP's sister, are you happy about what Giant fans have said on this thread?
If we're saying we're "classy" Giants fans, let's not act like Eagle fans. That's my point. One of our own is hurt, and half this thread, people are mocking his intelligence.
But don't worry, if JPP sacks Romo twice in September, he'll be our boy again. I sense a little hypocrisy.
So he exceeded my already low expectations for him.

You were the first guy I thought of when I saw the Twitter rumors.
You hated Plax's re-signing, then he shot himself.
Hated JPP and does this.
Quit with the voodoo?
Not voodoo. Common sense. Stupid people do stupid things. They don't stop being stupid because they wear a particular jersey, and they tend to get more stupid when they get money.

It's as easy as understanding why character, work ethic, and dedication are important when considering whether to invest tens of millions of dollars in them.
It's weird, there are a lot of guys that would want to let Eli walk, the guy that embodies all of those things, and yet they would have been the ones to re-sign Plaxico or JPP in spite of the way they carry themselves off the field (including practice and offseason workouts, etc...) without giving it a second thought.
Big difference between a friend doing something stupid...
and a high-exposure star player doing something stupid. Yes, if it was a friend, my first instinct--and the next 20--would be concern, even if he got hurt acting foolishly.
With a star athlete, my first instinct is to wonder how it happened--and if it was screwing around with fireworks, I would be pissed. Sorry, but this is part of the price one pays for the disproportionate compensation that comes with fame in the entertainment sector.
Yes, I hope he's OK, but if it turns out that he risked his career, and his value to his team, to fuck around with explosives, I really have difficulty feeling much sympathy. I still hope he's OK, of course.
Even if it isn't career threatening, btw, it seems very likely that he will lose lots of time in terms of conditioning and preparing to play football again, eventually.

The report about him losing fingers, if true, is absolutely horrible. I pray to God that's a false rumor.
Maybe if you'd have spelled "you're" correctly, I'd have been offended.
Steve Weatherford's car flips over
JPP blows his fingers off lighting fireworks
Beatty Injurid lifting weights
We're cursed when it comes to injuries
