NFT: Knicks in trade talks for David Lee? Nene?

There was speculation (pre-FA) that they would get assets from GS in exchange for taking Lee's salary and providing them with luxury tax relief.

old rumor. This would have been only done if the Knicks missed out on guys like Afflalo, Oquinn, Williams, RoLo, etc.

In the case of Lee, Knicks would absorb his large salary to save GS some money. GS would have also thrown in a pick or two to sweeten the deal.

Nene perhaps the same situation although he's a much more valuable player to DC than Lee is to GS.

Both would be good additions at this point as the Knicks could use a scoring PF, but seems very unlikely.

I believe they could trade Calderon and use 5.9m trade exception to get lee back right?

Nah, can't use the exception in combo with another player if I'm not mistaken.

That he went to boston, yes, but the idea that the Knicks were involved, or that it didn't happen because "phil didn't want Isiah players" is sketchy at best.
