NJ.com: Schwartz eager to put 2014 in his rearview mirror

Schwartz is using the "dead period" before training camp to further hone his craft in Arizona with former Pro Bowl offensive lineman LeCharles Bentley. Bentley runs a training center specifically designed to train offensive lineman, and his workouts have attracted NFL players from all over the country.

Schwartz and Richburg will spend nearly a month with Bentley, mixing in some down time when necessary (Richburg said they have some golf outings planned). Schwartz said the results from working with Bentley speak for themselves, as he designs individualized workout programs for each of his pupils that are applicable to what they do on the field as offensive linemen.

Let's hope all the assumed starters remain healthy

It would really be demoralizing to see misc backups in there.
and 2013, 2012 and 2011 also? :-)
Victor in CT : 7/20/2015 9:35 am : link
this guy gets the Lou Gehrig "Luckiest Man" award. Misses all of 2011, dresses for 13 games in 2012 but starts none, starts only 7 games in 2013 and ends up with a 4 yr, $16+ million deal with $5+ million guaranteed from the Giants.

Put up or shut up time. Or we all had better pray that Hart becomes this year's Billy Ard.
Bentley has

a Facebook page with video clips. Interesting and informative. It's L Bentley Offensive Line Performance. I don't see clips of working with the Giants. It gives you an idea though what the training is all about.
That must be a pretty big rearview mirror...

doenst strike me as a guy who is all in with football.
ODB: What exactly would you like him to do...

...to convince you of his commitment? I just want him to play. A healthy Geoff Schwartz would probably upgrade the right guard position to a level we haven't seen in about five years. The worry is that Schwartz's body might already be where Snee's was four years ago.

Complaints about guys like Schwartz and Beatty not being "all in" seems a little out of touch with the reality of pro sports. These are adult men with lives and families.
I'm still trying to figure out what the Giants and many posters saw
Victor in CT : 7/20/2015 11:27 am : link
(see) in Schwartz that leads to these rosy predictions of his impact. He started 9 games since 2011. NINE GAMES! Missed all of 2011 and has dressed for only 31 of 64 games in the last 4 years. I think it remains to be seen if he can even play at all.
People are funny

When he signed last year it was a great thing, almost everyone wanted him and were thrilled with the signing. Now all of a sudden the guy is a bum who doesn't care about football?

The guy trains all offseason with Bentley a former all-pro C, and he isn't all in with football? Is Richburg not all in? Because he is right next to him at this place.

Looking at his metrics, when he plays he is very good. Yes there is a bit of an injury history and that is a valid concern, but I don't understand why people on this board view him the way they do now.
Of course, unlike most NFL players...
Big Blue Blogger : 7/20/2015 11:57 am : link
...Schwartz does have the distractions of manipulating the world economy, controlling U.S. foreign policy, and kidnapping Christian children for use in Passover recipes. The man has a lot on his plate.

What they saw in him was that a PFF ranking based on his 7 game stint in 2013. I highly doubt that many here actually watched him play for the Chiefs that year.
His former coaches, Any Reid included,

had nothing but good things to say about him. Unfortunately the guy is starting to look like Davis Bass redux. Hoping he has a healthy productive season, we can't lose any more on the line, either lines.

In addition to that, thinking was that was a late bloomer who was finally coming into his own at the position.

Then came that Friday night against the Jets and boom, another lengthy injury.

If he gives you anything of significance, consider it a bonus. Just don't bet the mortgage on it.

Over/under on his games played for 2015 should be set at 9.5.

All his coaches said great things, but Father Time gets the last word and he's had some major injuries already and it's a violent game.

I was expecting to see him sitting in a cave, wearing a black robe, reading the playbook by candlelight.
Black robe and candles my ass.

Not since he signed that big contract last year.
I tend to agree about Schwartz being overvalued
Sonic Youth : 7/20/2015 7:41 pm : link
Shit, I didn't realize he only started 7 games in 2013. He's probably a viable starter, but I don't think he's anything special from what we've seen.

His brother is pretty good though.
We'll see how much he can practice/play
ChathamMark : 7/20/2015 8:02 pm : link
in training camp/pre-season, sounds like his ankle is still a bit of an issue.
The short period he played at RT

he showed he was very good
Sure hope this it true

and Reese indeed, made the right choice with this guy. Great talker and interview giver. Would like to see the high priced player now.
He's a good player

But he has to be out there...

He's got to stay healthy this season.
Dave in Hoboken : 7/20/2015 10:26 pm : link
No excuses.
Hoping for the best

Although his comments indicate he still feels the toe a little and the ankle has not fully recovered.

I see Hart as a PS player. Only time will tell how the OL shakes out but, I don't see solid options if Flowers moves to RT. That giant-Giant Michael Bamiro is an intriguing prospect though. If Schwartz goes down again this year, Moseley must step up his game because I don't see success with Jerry or Hart as starters.JMHO.
schwartz is really running that media chatterbox lately
