Losing a finger, I'm sure it's going to affect you a little bit, but it's not like offensive linemen are going to punch it, go for it. You can't grab it, right? It's not there. So he'll be fine.
Seubert earned the right to fighting his way back from one of the most horrific injuries a Giant has ever sustained. It took him three years to return to form, not six weeks, but still...
looking out for one of their own. It's nice to read these stories and all, but the Giants are going to ask their doctors and front office/coaches to make that decision. A few days after Plaxico shot himself, Drew Rosenhaus was saying that he was fine and would be able to play in a few weeks. I recall Pat Hanlon posting something along the lines of "oh, he's a doctor now?" And shortly thereafter, Plaxico was summoned to the Giants facilities and suspended the rest of the year.
As I said in a post earlier on, my guess is that the Giants have made up their mind, but they aren't going to say anything until camp starts. My gut is that over the course of the past week and up through camp, unless JPP is forthcoming and works with the Giants doctors, the Giants are going to pull his tender and put that money aside to use either for an in-season injury, perhaps a trade, or to extend other players.
Maybe Tuck can ask him why he refuses to let the Giants
are they going to come out and say he'll never be the same ? JPP wont play another snap as a NYG ... this is a major life altering injury ...
There's probably a percentage of 'player looking out for player here', but you've got a guy who played his position, a guy who played on the OL who came back from a grotesque injury it was thought he'd never play again due to, and also orthopedic surgeons offering a lot of "It's not as bad as you think" on this.
RE: RE: Maybe Tuck can ask him why he refuses to let the Giants
Maybe you can explain why you think he has to? It's his choice and he's not under contract with the team.
And it's their choice to pull the tender, which frankly I'm stunned that they haven't done, or not pay him by placing him on the NFI. Either way, the fool isn't getting paid. People don't hide better than expected news. They hide worse news. If he were smart (which he clearly isn't) he would have taken advantage of the fact that the Giants are known to take care of their people and be open with them and be in a position to cut a deal that would help him and his young family if the worst were to come true.

Well, they are a prospective employer. In fact, technically they are the only prospective employer he has right now. If he wants a job, he should show some good faith and let them get a look-see.
RE: RE: RE: Tuck and Seubert both quoted as saying they think he'll be fine

we've seen/read it before when players comment on other players ... this is all fluff, showing love for the man, in reality, he is good as done, beyond the injury he has carried himself in a very unprofessional manner and has shown ZERO home-town love ... F' this guy ... there is already a plan in place, and the team will move on without him ... his contributions over the past few seasons hasn't changed the fact that we have missed the playoffs for 5+ seasons, have been among the lowest in team rank defense, and have had a few losing seasons in a row now ...
If they pull the tender he's a free agent and they have given up on him. They won't do that before seeing the hand. He is waiting as long as possible before showing them because that will allow it to heal. He wants to pass the physical. If he does he gets his whole 14.8. If he signs too soon, he could be placed on the NFI. It all makes sense.
because doctors haven't seen him or because of lack of patience. They don't need to do anything now and they won't.
Fans get upset about some imagined loyalty owed to the organization and want to punish the player if he offends. The organization knows that criteria is irrational and is unlikely to make decisions based on it.
he wants to maximize his dollars earned this year. the best way to achieve that is to cooperating with the Giants. The Giants aren't going to dick him over if they can keep a harmonious relationship. But if he wants to play hardball, they'll play hardball.
he wants to maximize his dollars next year. means he has to have the best year possible this year. best way to do that is to have a harmonious relationship with the Giants.
If his hand is fooked, it doesn't matter what he does. hand fooked=JPP fooked. being a dick on top of it doesn't add to his value for us or for anyone else.
for the last four seasons when responding to anything Giant related. Do nothing and see what happens. Amazingly this time I agree with him. Anyone that thinks JPP will see one minute of NFL football this season is either a moron or severely delusional. Put him in the rearview mirror and move on.
If it's fooked, pull the tender. If his camp is completely bluffing to try and either 1) get the full tender locked in or 2) get the tender rescinded so he can sign elsewhere, the Giants still hold the leverage.
He's not getting any kind of guarantees without an examination.
Or, he could have an offer from another team and is hoping to get released. I don't quite see why anyone would offer up a long term contract in the range he wants, without knowing what the long term effects are.
It sucks for the twitter age, but nothing is going to happen for at least a month. in the meanwhile, we'll all just keep on posting the same ole shit.

Good grief. It is not a life altering injury. I don't know what the end result will be, but its entirely possible that he will be able to play at a high level again. The big issue is his thumb. The finger is not as big a deal as some of you seem to think.
I'm done with this whole thing. Whatever happens happens... The Giants are building a new team with young talent. JPP was great here but no one player is irreplaceable except Eli.
I'm keeping an open mind maybe JPP will be fine but I'm prepared for anything. I trust the staff to do the right thing.

This is equally as delusional as expecting him to be an all pro by week one. None of us has any idea what to expect. Why would the Giants even think of pulling the tag right now? The biggest argument is cap space to carry over which is a non issue. Either way they have a ton of cap space next offseason. If he will never be the same Reese will be spending big on a pass rusher next March anyway.
with this issue. Same statements of "pull the tender" and same responses of "it costs them nothing to leave it there". Let's just wait for it to come to its own conclusion and go from there. Good grief.
I always felt JPP would go for the biggest deal and that it would not come from the Giants. I would rather they pull the tender now, but as an organization they aren't emotional like fans so we are going to have to put up with this crap.

(guilty smirk).
Side note; that beard makes Tuck look very old
